  • The Royal Ballet is a Cambodian tradition dating back more than a thousand years. Closely linked to the royal court, it has suffered all the repercussions of the nation's eventful history and, at various times, has almost been lost to us. Kings invariably took the dancers with them when forced to flee their capitals and fortunately there have always been young women who desired to serve their King as dancer

So beautiful and I'm so proud to be Khmer, but at the same time my heart ❤️ feel very sad 😭 what happened to dey's Khmer and Khmer people due to horrible Khmer's men politicians " the Khmer Rouge" and now dictator leads in Cambodia. Khmer people endured hardships included me. Visited Angkor Wat in January 2018, what a magnificent place built by Khmer Angkorians and beautiful Absara dancer were carved on to the walls all over in Angkor Wat. It's a shame dey's Khmer's getting smaller an smaller.

This is a truly Siam dance in the Apsara dress . It is begin in the50s- 60s by the support of Queen Kossamak nearirath that want to show to the world that Khmer have their own the original dance. By use the dance of Khmer royal court that receive from Siam at the time of King Ang Doung to mixed with the dress that invent from the sculpture of Angkor Wat.But the Khmer people in the present day commit an evil thing by distort the truth that Thai people stole everything from them 'May be because of a present Khmer people derived from a labor and rural people that survive from Khmer rouge regime ( the high educated people was killed already ) , they don't know the international manners and don't know how to give the credit to the other nations.

Thailand was once part of the Khmer Empire. It’s well documented that when the Thais invaded, they tried to transport an entire dance troupe back to their kingdom. The history of the area is the winner or larger group who wrote the story. Cambodians, however, managed to keep their culture alive in spite multiple invasions from the current neighbors, who absorbed many Khmer people into their empire, Thailand and Vietnam were once part of the Khmer Empire.
