I have never seen a Frieren fan make actual valid points to counteract criticism, which is quite telling of the quality of this show. Instead they just whine and create strawmans as is nicely demonstrated in the comment section here.
I agree. The story is designed to waste as much time as possible. With useless side plots, cardboard 1 dimensional bland characters, aimless and meandering plot points. Focusing on small, useless tasks instead of trying to make the story advance. It's garbage designed to waste your time. "Peak fiction" my @$$. Its the same as writing an 800,000 page book about wiping your ass - its not needed and pointless for a "story". The entire show can be summarized as: "Then she retired and walked around visiting friends or remembering memories" 20+ episodes is OVERKILL for a story as boring, uninspired and LAZY as this one. I also get it - she is a grandma elf that should have dated her old friend Himmel: PEAK FANTASY GUIS 100/10, AMAUZING Give me 900 more episodes of Frieren farting, watching grass grow, eating food, sleeping, shopping, reading a book or picking her nose. YAAASSS PEAKKK FUCTION. Its a lobotomy simulator, its actual trash.
Frieren is not really that bad but i’m sick of people calling it a masterpiece. There are many anime that deserve the title masterpiece more than Frieren.
There is a lot to like about Frieren, and I broadly enjoyed it for what it is, but having granted that, the community really needs to chill with this *"greatest anime of all time", "10/10 perfect masterpiece", "will never get better than this"* nonsense. It is exceptional in multiple aspects, yes, but it is not without significant flaws as well which hold it back from being the objectively timeless classic that everyone is feverishly painting it as. Speaking personally, I found some of the character writing to be its biggest weakness. The decision to pair up Frieren herself with a person of a nearly equal disposition like Fern was boneheaded and served to drag down the overall experience for me. Additionally, I often found the latter to be an insufferable twerp and/or judgmental hypocrite whenever she wasn't actively competing with her mistress to be the most monotone party member. Her interactions with Stark especially rubbed me the wrong way (Am I the only one who was deeply put off by the "so small" scene alone? That was an incredibly distasteful attempt at "comedy" on the part of the author and permanently marred my impression of her for the remainder of the series.), and their "relationship" felt very forced to me. And speaking of Stark, while I wanted to appreciate him more as a refreshing balance to the rest of the core cast, it seems the plot was desperate to both underutilize him as well as treat him as the obligatory punching bag of the show, a trope in anime which I am thoroughly exhausted with. More often than not he is framed merely as this wimpy musclehead that the rest of the group begrudgingly drags around for no reason other than to handle odd jobs and occasionally help with fighting a monster - in other words, a child with no significant agency or dignity of his own to speak of and who does not really stand with the others as an equal. The most obvious example of this is, of course, the magic exam arc wherein he is just completely and unceremoniously benched for several episodes straight with no thought whatsoever on the writer's part of how to make use of him in a potential side plot - a real creative blunder, yet I feel there is an even more pertinent moment which most people overlook in this regard. Remember the scene where the party is caught in a blizzard leading up to them meeting Kraft? Some may see this as a bit nitpicky (I firmly disagree), but you're trying to tell me that the one member of the group who is not only a male entering his prime years but even a hardcore bodybuilder on top of that is the single person who succumbs to the frigid conditions and even enters a freaking coma? Yeah, not buying it. To me, that was all the evidence necessary to reveal how the author truly regarded Stark as a character: a glorified paperweight who is mostly there just to serve as padding for the other members and to be the target of all the jokes. It was really irritating to watch. Anyway, there's more that could be said along these lines, but those are a couple of the biggest instances of the issue. Overall, I still give the show a solid 8/10, and I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't curious to see what a second season could feature (not that such a thing is very likely to happen in the first place, at least not as a production on Madhouse's part again), but can we all stop treating it like it's anime's second coming, like this is what all of anime throughout freaking history has been building towards? That would be much appreciated. In conclusion, Dungeon Meshi is actually the best show to come out of the Fall 2023/Winter 2024 period, and if Frieren is overrated, then the former is underrated. So do yourself a favor and go watch it if you haven't yet. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
Stark definitely isn't a "wimpy muscle head" and while yes he was benched for the majority of the exam arc...someone like stark wouldn't really be able to do much in that arc. Whats stark supposed to do against someone like denkin, frieren, Ubel, the hair sage (forgot her name), he might be able to pass the first trial but the second would've gotten him disqualified. Stark isn't really a wimp either, hes afraid yes but hes not zenitsu leveks of passive fear. Stark definitely has his own personality and goals, he wished to actually live up to what others expect of him. Theres a really good moment where stark takes a hit from one of the demons and despite his fear, despite being on the verge of death he still pulls through. Now i won't say frieren is perfect but to say stark is treated as a wimpy musclehead seems like a gross oversimplification of who stark is. Not only that but Dungeon meshi definitely isnt underrated, I love it and everyone i've seen watch it praises it.
He's completely right. I also only had a vague sense of "Wow, that's too bad for her." They showed that she cared about Himmel, but they didn't give us a reason to care about him, not in a direct way that was independent of his impact on her. If they had developed his character more before he died, we would have connected with him emotionally, and his death would have had a stronger impact on us. This would have made us care more about and empathize with how Frieren was feeling because we would have felt it too.
@@whyguy2324 Himmel is repeatedly shown doing good deeds, and saving people. It also is strongly implied he cares about Frieren more than as just friends and companions. Both are reasons to regret his death: The passing of a good man, and the unfulfillment of affection.
1:21 "Frieren chooses to leave and be alone"? Really? Frieren offered Eisen to come with her, but he declined. /: 1:36 "She spends a good couple of months with him along with Fern". They lived together about 5 or 6 years. Dude, I literally just started watching and you've already said a bunch of nonsense. lmao
I watched three anime in the past moth, Moshuko, Frieren and Re:Zero compared to those two Frieren was not as good and I found it kind of dull most of the time. The concept was nice, but I was not that heavily invested into it like Mushuko and Re:Zero. Re:Zero is one of the best anime I have seen in a long time.
You were WAYY nicer to the story than I would have thought. Frieren is neither "the spawn of Satan", nor is it "the 2n coming of anime Christ", but it is indeed extremely overrated. It does have A LOT of issues, that nobody seems to adress. Even YOU left out tons of things, that are signs of poor writing in this show: 1) There is NO character developement in Frieren! 2) Frieren STARTS OFF with the premise of coping with loss. This, however, is dropped after the first 5 episodes and the only thing Frieren's """"character arc""""" amounts to, is some random flashbacks where we learn (mostly useless) stuff about her former party. [While the flashbacks involving Flamme mostly DO have a purpose, this purpose has nothing to to with the story's supposed theme!] 3) BUILDUP AND FORESHADOWING: From what we have seen in the manga so far, most things in the story just happen without buildup or foreshadowing and most of the stuff that happens has no consequences for the narrative. If I had to take a guess, I'd bet, that the author of Frieren is making up everything on the spot and then just tries to connect certain things he set up earlier in the story in some way. There really is no sign AT ALL, that the author plans out anything in this story. (Just go back to certain scenes, like the fight against Aura for example. The information, that is necessary for the audience to understand the plottwist, is only given to us RIGHT BEFORE the plottwist happens! Same is the case for most other such scenes in Frieren......... Or go back to the scene with Qual in ep 3. What purpose did that episode serve? I can tell you: NONE. It established the fact, that magic is essentially advancing at breakneck speed, but for no logical reason ancient spells still are considered to be the most powerful ones......smart writing, everyone!) 4) Frieren's characters are EXTREMELY bland. They just stand around and stare blankly in most scenes! What do we know about Stark, a supposedly important character? Well, ....he is a warrior, he failed to protect his village in the past, because he's a coward.....that's it. Not very compelling or complex, tbh. And none of the characters have any goals they want to achieve. And in case they do actually have goals, theses goals are just, again, very bland. e.g.: "I want to visit the place where d*ad people dwell (which is in earth apparently....), because I want to talk to my friend, who passed away." --> That's not interesting. Nothing thrilling will come of this. Nothing of any relevance will come of this.
Wow this is dumb. 1) Lolwut? I don't even know how to respond to this, character progression and change in all the main and significant characters is pretty obvious. 2) No, Frieren uses coping with loss as an inciting incident for the new journey. The premise was always "elf hating on demons shoots them on sight" 3) > scene with Qual in ep 3. It does absolutely nothing except a) It establishes existance of magic as a science b) It confirms technological progress in research of magic c) It shows that unlike elves or demons, humans have to adapt and advance quickly to survive d) it shows that Frieren is well-aware and probably connected to human research of magic e) It shows how advanced and quick to invent and analyse Qual was, and how much of an achievement his defeat was > for no logical reason ancient spells still are considered to be the most powerful ones You did not get the magical system in the show at all didn't you? In case of Zoltraak it was neccessary to research and advance the science of magic to remove the threat of this new category of destructive spells developed by an enemy commander and widely used by enemy forces. In case of the AWESOME POWER of laundry spell, it's an overly complicated tough magic which can be easily beaten by a bucket and some soap. There is the reason the spell is lost to time. > There really is no sign AT ALL, that the author plans out anything in this story. Exam arc foreshadowed in Granat arc. Eldorado arc foreshadowed in Exam arc. Most Exam arc characters added obviously for future narrative purpose. Empire was taught of since the early episodes with Flamme. Dunno what you're on. 4) You seem to be watching the show with your ass. Try using ears and eyes next time. Just with Stark there was the whole psychoanalysis on how he interpreted his brothers protection love and affection as a sign of his own weakness and cowardice, FFS.
My friend left 10 years ago so now I wanna go find my friend gorilla warrior Lmao Really really horrible writing. Actually great example for education on what not to do
@@Rastrellybro said "theres no development in frieren" thats just...outright false? Even frieren herself develops even if it may be subtle, she initially didnt want to accept fern as an apprentice but eventually is persuaded to take fern in and trains her. Their relationship goes from a simple mentor and deciple to one of family, Stark gets development within the first like 2 episodes he is introduced with killing the dragon and his face off against the demon going from fighting defensively and with fear to literally taking an axe to the side and still pulling through. Then theres fern and Starks relationship with starts of with fern being rather cold to stark but as the show goes on fern does warm up to him and while she's still quite blunt, she obviously cares a lot more for stark. This is especially shown in the manga where despite fern being dissapointed that their date was full of places frieren picked for stark, fern still enjoyed the fact that stark put so much thought into the day.
I started the anime (im on chapter 14) and it's ok, but it's not exceptional in any dimension: characters, magic system, environment, music, politics etc. All ok but nothing exceptional. I was expecting a masterpiece lol.
Ikr I was like who would unironically have that name. Bro must be a coom brain who needs constant stimulation because porn fried his dopamine receptors so a peaceful anime like this just is too boring without ATLEAST some family guy funny moments on the side. I mean like he can't get past the first few episodes being slow but that's almost every single anime, but also kinda ironic that he's saying the beginning is slow as it just casually skips through 80+ years lol
I could put more emotion in describing the molecular structure and properties of chalk than Frieren could giving a speech before a battle let’s not kid ourselves
But what is the point ?? I don't understand why it was exceptional ?. Himmel and frieren relationship , for me this anime was so boring unlike Vinland saga for ex.
I agree that it can feel overated because of the high expetations (maybe a 7/10 for me). I liked it and I don't think it's boring, but it lacks a little bit of something for me and ending with an exam/tournament arc was uninspired (that was the worse aspect for me). I guess that the problem is that friendship and the experience of loss/grief specifically as it's portrayed in this show aren't good enough for me to carry the show. However, I love the demon concept and the emphasis on immortality, so it has virtues and potential.
Agree, probably this is the most overrated anime of all time, first part was okay but the second past was abysmally boring. Characters were pretty simple, the comedy elements wer cliched and cringe and almost nothing happened at all. 7-8/10 would be the real rating, nothing more.
4:00 was the moment I cried. What a cinematic masterpiece you made. Anyways, I appreciate you giving your opinion out. A lot of people have complained about how boring this show can be and you've made a good point about the characters talking in a monotone voice but personally, I'm fine with the show being the way it is since it gives a lot of context to Frieren as a character. I do think it's ridiculous that people cried at the deaths. We can't really feel weight to them as we didn't get shown enough of the characters before those deaths.
I agree that it's stupid they cried, and as stupid as it sounds but some people really are Empaths and they are really good at putting themselves in that situation or they imagine it being someone THEY know which is what causes them to cry. Not the character dying, but the act of dying itself or the meaning of it I guess. Atleast that's how I understand it.
@@kaguya6900 for some reason media fans think action shonen is the worst and all functions like fairy tail when tons of action stories can be complex and moving while telling a story with fun action. They act like slice of life like stories cant be done in shonen. It's weird. Shonen has romance, sports, card duels, thrillers, etc. And having action doesnt make them or any automatically bad. A story isnt bad for a person when the story just doesnt entertain you and it's not fair to call anyone who wants action just typical etc.
Legit watched the show without your eyes and ears. 1:20 Frieren literally asks Eisen to join her m. You even use the clip of that scene. Did you even try to make this video make sense?
So if an anime tries to do something a little different and tones down the most common anime tropes, then it’s an absolute masterpiece. Like for real this is the only reason people are crazy about it (most logical explanation to me since I found none of the thousands miles depth in the themes and characters everyone is talking about), anime has gotten so saturated and cookie-cutter it took one boring story in a boring setting with a different aesthetic and vibe to swoon the entire anime community who had been starving for something just slightly different for so long it’s lost its sense of taste. Notice how all the supposed fans down here have to push back against the review boils down to: “the channel is named The Harem Reviewer so I’m not gonna listen lalala”, “you don’t get it you’re a shounen guy” and “it’s supposed to make you feel bored and frustrated”. Because there is nothing substantial to praise, the interesting concepts thrown by the author are always dangled above your head as he expects the audience to do all the work and expand on them (not the same as leaving things vague, this is straight up underdeveloped), probably because he’s not a good writer and went beyond his current capabilities, and being butthurt and unable to defend their pretty slide show of colorful background with moving dolls by describing the incredible depth they were promised but never actually got, they try to shut down criticism as quickly as possible. Sounds like something Fern would do if she had internet, you know the petty woman-child? Coincidence? Frieren is a 7\10, Just give Full Metal Alchemist its throne back you rats
Based on your review, you like an action anime them this anime will not suit you or since this anime is blowout in anime community you are giving this review to trigger many people and gain more attraction in your channel
@@Gecko3456 Not even a hater lol. Freiren is 6/10 for me and far from masterpiece. You're probably just a Freiren simp. Freiren added nothing new to the genre. No world building, it just copied the rpg system in another fantasy anime. The characters are all pretty much similar. 90% of them are stoic with no personality. The fights were also boring. Just throwing random projectiles. I get it though you're a simple-minded simp. Lol
Sorry but he's absolutety right , frieren is so normal , boring and tooo tooo normal .. Himmel as hero ?.. but why ?.. what is the point of their relationship (himmel and Frieren) .? And the boring moments of Fern , Stark was enjoying though .😅
Show: “Beyond Journey’s End.” Channel: “wtf is it boring at the start???” The show is a great take on the Hero’s Journey and how it really never ends. Instead of saving the world Frieren wants to improve herself. Those no stakes, no rush, so the call to action took a couple episodes.
@@Nieblham To be fair they explained in the video that they understood what it was trying to say. He just didnt think it's as mindblowingly deep as people made it seem. The hype for the series tells people its the greatest series ever made...so you'd have expectations its way more exciting and crazy great right off the back. I see people claim stuff like chainsawman is boring and drop it 3 eps in while saying frieren is the most heartfelt amazing series in existance just 1 ep in. I think its the way people make it seem like faster stories are not as good and being slow and thoughtful about living and enjoying the moment is so much better. Both imo can be good. I like a good jjk season of adrenaline fights and i dont enjoy people telling me there was all action no story when i can see and comprehend a story right there. Frieren, its also annoying when peopel act like it's just vibes and slice of life when there is definitely a story and a goal it's just not foremost in the plot. Doesnt make it so much bettter like people act than something more action based. IDK i think discourse is what got him and alot tilted. Its 1 on MAL so you expect it to be the greatest series of all time (not me but some) lol.
you're spitting fact man! personally, i don't think frieren is bad, but it's nowhere near a 10/10 likes everyone makes it out to be, it is around 6-7/10 for me. I could see that it could get better in the future, but as of now with only season 1 in mind, it's just beginning to set up characters, world, etc,... nothing of particular interest has happened yet, all in all, it's just enjoyable, but that's it. Nothing ground breaking or impressive has been demonstrated as of now. Hopefully season 2 will get better
Yeah, me too. I feel like anime is overrated as hell, even exceeding Full Metal. What the heck? Also, some fans say it's a slice-of-life series that teaches you about the value of time, but somehow it's still very boring, with slow character development and wasted time in episodes. My preference is for gothic-themed anime, but there are very few of them
I don’t like frieren but I actually disagree with this review I prefer the first few episodes to the rest of the show. The start is great, the rest is shite with slight glimpses of the brilliance of the first few episodes
I know you are trying to get somewhere with your channel with the clickbait title. But this is how you watch your channel implode. good luck with the ...MLP and kids next door ranking videos.
6:03 this part IS MEANT to be frustrating for us humans, since this shows us just how different sees time compared to us humans. 6:43 This episode is mostly spent building up Qual as a lethal mage, only to reveal that his unique magic has been analyzed and become widespread, thus his magic has become obsolete due to ‘the passage of time’. It’s not just that ‘a’ defense magic was developed 7:15 , it was a magic that is meant to ‘counter’ his death beam. I know it is boring, but I implore you to take ponder this just for Frieren:’why is it boring?’ Cuz the latter half of the season is just one masterpiece of writing after the other.
I'm pretty sure you have good reviews, but this is definitely isn't it. You clearly did not understand the point of this anime. While I do think Frieren is easier to watch on a weekly basis instead of binge watching it, the slow pace is crucial to make the story work. Also how can you say "hitler's" death wasn't emotional while at the same time holding the belief that he's the best character in the series? I can understand someone not feeling empathy for him, but I think he's a clear representation of us, mere humans that live, fail and die. He's at the same time afraid and ready for his death. Isn't that the whole thing that makes us humans? Anyway, there are a few criticisms that Frieren can take. For example, even though they are mostly well implemented, the overuse of flashbacks can be exhausting, and it sometimes can get annoying when Fern throws a tantrum for the fifth time over nothing. But that wouldn't make Frieren mid. Heck, Full Metal Alchemist was considered the best anime for a long time and 80% of the time the plot is convoluted at best (although the character work is top notch and makes up for most flaws in the story) Anyway, good luck with your next review. I can assure you it's gonna be way better than this one and won't be full of misinterpretations, or you will actually care and try to understand what the story is trying to tell you
Some people don't get emotional about stuff like that. I'm one of them, though I can empathize. And yea you're right the reason why anime's like Frieren and FMA are insanely highly rated even if they aren't considered the best anime is because they are short/compact and pretty simple. There's very few mistakes they even CAN make and what mistakes there could be made or were made aren't enough to bring it down from 10/10 or 9/10. They are simply enjoyable.
Its crazy cause the reason he hates it is why people who like it like it lol. It's basically a shonen for people who hate shonen. SLower paced part that was slice of life according to fans was the deepest thing ever. I liked it but sometimes i was like ok the morals are like im watching hey arnold again, a mini adventure where the end point is hey life is short enjoy it. XD.
I don't think it is that he didn't understand, I think he just had different preferences in anime. I tend to agree with the majority of his points and I can understand the point behind the anime. It just felt like a nothing-burger at the end. I really like emotions in anime and Frieren only made me feel any bit of anything in the last minute of the anime. I genuinely don't understand the point of meat riding this anime. My best idea is that it is very unique for the Isekai genre, but that is an incredibly low bar. I don't know man, I don't like hating but I have never been so perplexed by something so slightly above average being praised by so many people. I've tried to gather others' opinions but other than explaining good themes. they mostly just spew subjective opinions. I guess everyone is entitled to their own but for something to be so widely beloved, I guess I had significantly higher expectations than what was delivered.
@imperialbagel Frieren isn't an isekai. It's honestly pretty easy to understand how frieren became popular. Amazing and realistic characters, amazing world building, all battles are well paced and well animated, most characters act, well, in character, compelling villains and protagonists and, above all else, the plot is easy to follow and you hardly have an interaction that could only happen because the plot is convoluted (FMA Brotherhood has 90% of It's plot based around someone finding someone somewhere at exact time those people had to meet in order for the plot to continue). A simple yet compelling story, with amazing characters with amazing interactions in a world that truly feels unique and real. Trust me, even if most people don't realize it yet, most media nowadays tend to be terribly written, looking more like a swiss cheese than an actual script to a narrative. Frieren feels like a refreshing in a world where the only drink available is poop water. And trust me, that's not meat grinding, that's excitement for finally finding someone decent to watch
ikr, i tried my best to watch this anime because i'm curious why is this anime got the first place on myanimelist, until i suddenly stopped at episode of 15/16/17 or something like that. it's very slow paced and boring, no shocking moment like fma, death note, one piece, or even hunter x hunter. i haven't watch bleach so maybe that anime is better than frieren too.
same like jujutsu, confusing plot and action, the pacing is weird, and my only favorite part is the support characters are easily died. not like fairy tail where u had invinite lives
Fucking thank you! So much of this is what I've been trying to tell other people! It's an okay anime at 6 (maybe 7)/10. One of the worst beginnings to an otherwise decent anime I've seen in a while. Good plot for the type of story that it is, but not the type of story for everyone (especially me). I would give it a 7, but waiting until the 7th episode for it to START to be interesting was torturous. Worldbuilding (5.5): The worldbuilding is slightly above average, providing enough details to support the story but lacking in depth and immersion. The setting is functional but not particularly engaging or memorable. Viewer Experience (6.5): The viewer experience is fair, with the anime being generally enjoyable. It has some memorable moments, but there are also parts that might feel less engaging. Overall, it's a decent watch that can hold interest without being particularly outstanding. Characters (6): The characters are likable and relatable, with some depth and development. They fulfill their roles adequately, though they might not be deeply explored or exceptionally memorable. Storytelling (6): The storytelling is fair, holding attention and providing an interesting enough narrative. While it may not be groundbreaking or highly creative, it’s structured well enough to keep viewers engaged. Pacing (4): The pacing is mediocre, with noticeable issues that affect the viewing experience. Some parts of the anime drag or feel rushed, leading to a disjointed or uneven narrative flow.
I'll also add that many of the episodes follow the same ark. Go someplace new. Wow, Himmel did something here once, now it needs to be fixed/resolved some way. Fern gets mad at Stark. Solve problem and Fern forgives Stark. Next episode. Way too fucking predictable imo.
Based on facts and analysis.... Frieren is literally designed to waste your time with story and character arcs that go nowhere. Character "development" is forgotten. Random and boring information is focused on instead of important or dramatic story plot points. Its straight trash and the characters are boring, lame trash too. Its designed to shut your brain off and waste hours of your life with "Will Frieren read a book? Will she clean a statue? Will she wake up early? Will she volunteer to clean a beach?" - This is so far from "peak fiction" its actually enraging to hear. Its straight garbage from the bottom of the dumpster bin. Take away the fantasy and you have an elderly grandma wishing she had dated a guy years ago... Ughhh gross.
Buddy, this is not a harem romcom or a shounen series, it's a slice of life fantasy, it's gonna be a slower story. Also Fern and Frieren are not emotionless, they're just series. Idk how you can call Frerien's silly ass emotionless.
No... Its just actual garbage designed to waste the viewers time. Spending 20+ episodes for a story ending of "huh, i should have dated that guy" is peak insanity and time wasting, mindless boring, story drivel that is POINTLESS. With characters that literally have the personality of a lobotomized zombie.
@@Paopao621 The meaning of the show is to waste your time on pointless errands and too many flashback memories. I get the whole point is "appreciate your friends and what you have" - except the show completely ignores Heiter and Eisel, the two main friends... They can F$%# right off and die... As they actually do in the show. The only one who is important is Himmel because of the romance implied... But even then, who really cares because he's dead. Wow, great story writing 100/10 - amazing guis. Masterpiez

If you don't understand why this anime is good is the same as you don't understand why FMAB is good. this is just not your cup of tea, same for me that amines value for me goes down x10 the moment I notices it's a harem anime, since mostly 90% of the time, the focus will only be on the main characters often to much focus on fan service and the rest of the world feel dumb anime npc and really empty and get so little attention it's just really forgetful anime for ME and really overused so hard to remember any of them.+ I felt for the characters at the start, we don't need to 100% know them we can see that to them and each other they had a important past and now it's ending. also remember we are in a medieval time when TRAVELING takes TIME, not like the anime AGAIN that feel the world is empty where characters cross the world on foot in less then half a day. so the thing where she is gone for so long makes a really good reason that makes sense. one of the things that killed GoT for me at the start the world felt legit travel took time people remember, and when show passed the book suddenly the WALL was only 50 km away from kings landing
If you arent interested or like the show in its entirety then dont watch it and also dont make a complete brainless roast about it.. you honestly deserve to have your video not be recommended, let it sit and never do a review again. (we dont deserve nice things)
I agree. Characters are boring, plot too, overall it is as bland as water. I noticed that this anime is mostly liked by lonely men for some reason heh. If you want something wholesome and just better in every aspect, watch delicious in dangeon

6:40 she cares so much she did not visit or sent a letter until he was on the death bed... right..
Idk
Garbage ass comment. You have ultimate Garbage taste
I wouldn't really trust someone named the Harem Reviewer to review a show such as Frieren...
And seriously? A My Little Pony smash or pass? Fucking degenerate.
Same here dude
"I don't feel anything." Coulda just ended your review there.
@@whyguy2324 that's what the flashbacks do, we see what Himmel done in his life and understand more of him and see what his actions meant for Frieren
@@whyguy2324...
You're absolutely right , this anime is normal ..and Himmel's story has nothing exceptional .
i dont found any episodes boring at all... i like the slow pace.. its like im enjoying a slow hike with nature
1:21 "Frieren chooses to leave and be alone"? Really? Frieren offered Eisen to come with her, but he declined. /:
1:36 "She spends a good couple of months with him along with Fern".
Even YOU left out tons of things, that are signs of poor writing in this show:
1) There is NO character developement in Frieren!
2) Frieren STARTS OFF with the premise of coping with loss. This, however, is dropped after the first 5 episodes and the only thing Frieren's """"character arc""""" amounts to, is some random flashbacks where we learn (mostly useless) stuff about her former party. [While the flashbacks involving Flamme mostly DO have a purpose, this purpose has nothing to to with the story's supposed theme!]
3) BUILDUP AND FORESHADOWING: From what we have seen in the manga so far, most things in the story just happen without buildup or foreshadowing and most of the stuff that happens has no consequences for the narrative. It established the fact, that magic is essentially advancing at breakneck speed, but for no logical reason ancient spells still are considered to be the most powerful ones......smart writing, everyone!)
4) Frieren's characters are EXTREMELY bland.
The premise was always "elf hating on demons shoots them on sight"
3)
> scene with Qual in ep 3.
It does absolutely nothing except
a) It establishes existance of magic as a science
b) It confirms technological progress in research of magic
c) It shows that unlike elves or demons, humans have to adapt and advance quickly to survive
d) it shows that Frieren is well-aware and probably connected to human research of magic
e) It shows how advanced and quick to invent and analyse Qual was, and how much of an achievement his defeat was
> for no logical reason ancient spells still are considered to be the most powerful ones
You did not get the magical system in the show at all didn't you?
My friend left 10 years ago so now I wanna go find my friend gorilla warrior
Lmao
Really really horrible writing.
"The Harem Reviewer" reviews an actual good anime, doesn't like it, who would have thought
I love to see fans gouging eyes out for everyone thay dislikes this.
This is most boring show I had the displeasure of watching..
Do you feel it's more boring the Serial Experiment Lane?
Ironic that your biggest critique is that they all talk in monotone voice while you also talk monotonely

The difference is, he’s self aware and obviously leaning into a joke.
I could put more emotion in describing the molecular structure and properties of chalk than Frieren could giving a speech before a battle let’s not kid ourselves
It is called "Projection".

🤣🤣🤣
I haven't found an anime that hit like frieren did yet. I absolutely adore this show. If anyone knows of any, please let me know.
4:00 tragic
you make lots of good points and was overall enjoyable video, idk why so many dislikes....unless its all from the mlp crap then i get it xD

A typical shonen fan expecting action from every genre of anime.
but frieren is a shonen sooo....
Well, it IS published in Shonen Sunday, but so are most of the Mitsuru Adachi stories, so shonen covers more than just action/fighting manga.
A story isnt bad for a person when the story just doesnt entertain you and it's not fair to call anyone who wants action just typical etc.
still frieren is the most boring thing i saw in my entiere life
Legit watched the show without your eyes and ears. 1:20 Frieren literally asks Eisen to join her m. You even use the clip of that scene. Did you even try to make this video make sense?
He probably didn't watch it much
I liked Frieren but I would rate it 7.5/10. The Rating Frieren Got was rediculous. How is this thing 9.5. that does not make any sense.
I like the show a lot, I ''get it'' fully, it is not, anywhere near a top 10 anime. A solid, very solid to great 8-8.5 potentially
This is my opinion as well.

The show is a great take on the Hero’s Journey and how it really never ends.
Yeah, me too. I feel like anime is overrated as hell, even exceeding Full Metal. What the heck? Also, some fans say it's a slice-of-life series that teaches you about the value of time, but somehow it's still very boring, with slow character development and wasted time in episodes. My preference is for gothic-themed anime, but there are very few of them
It’s supposed to be boring/slow that is the point/theme of the show 😭
Doesn't make it enjoyable. I love SoL and stuff but Frieren doesn't really have anything going for it

fma, hunter x hunter, one piece, bleach, code geass, and death note still better for such action and drama
Yes but the majority says it was a masterpiece !..😮
I don't understand why ?!... A good anime yes ..but it's too overrated.

Can you review Ranking Of Kings anime, is pretty good
Great review
Heck, Full Metal Alchemist was considered the best anime for a long time and 80% of the time the plot is convoluted at best (although the character work is top notch and makes up for most flaws in the story)
Anyway, good luck with your next review.
XD.
He definitely didn't understand
@imperialbagel Frieren isn't an isekai.

Frieren is boring asf . My least favorite character
And you total garbage.
ah, another frieren boring guy. skip.
It is an opinion.
@@centripetal6157 Sure, I personally like boring as trash where nothing important happens.
Buddy, this is not a harem romcom or a shounen series, it's a slice of life fantasy, it's gonna be a slower story. Also Fern and Frieren are not emotionless, they're just series. Idk how you can call Frerien's silly ass emotionless.
you just have bad taste
Bro really said " let me go against everyone so ill be somehow unique and in turn ill get more views" 😂😂😂😂
@@centripetal6157 then you didnt understand the meaning of the show.
@@Paopao621 The meaning of the show is to waste your time on pointless errands and too many flashback memories.
I get the whole point is "appreciate your friends and what you have"
- except the show completely ignores Heiter and Eisel, the two main friends... They can F$%# right off and die... As they actually do in the show.
The only one who is important is Himmel because of the romance implied... But even then, who really cares because he's dead.
Wow, great story writing 100/10 - amazing guis. Masterpiez
@@centripetal6157 lmao, you really don't have critical thinking skills, to you everything is linear and boring 😂😂, you always see things at its face value 😂
@@Paopao621 explain how anything i said is wrong. Im waiting
"the harem reviewer" says that Frieren is EXTREMELY overrated guys!!
Nah you need to retire from reviewing anything
If you arent interested or like the show in its entirety then dont watch it and also dont make a complete brainless roast about it.. you honestly deserve to have your video not be recommended, let it sit and never do a review again.
(we dont deserve nice things)
So edgy
I agree. Characters are boring, plot too, overall it is as bland as water. I noticed that this anime is mostly liked by lonely men for some reason heh. If you want something wholesome and just better in every aspect, watch delicious in dangeon
bro thats the point its supposed to be a wholesome peaceful anime go watch another anime if u dont like it no need to bash it without understanding it, and like dont say lonely men bro just bcs u didnt enjoy it doesnt mean u gotta say that shi.
@@karmin8135 There are wholesome, calm, peaceful anime that are just BETTER story-wise and character wise, that have some DEPTH. Like mushishi. Frieren is just nothing compared to the 2 examples i provided.
Don't get triggered over what other people say, everyone can have their own people, and that's okay.
And I am not your "bro", thanks.
@@mesgard8624 Mushoko is nice but compared t other adventure anime u cant really bash it,its a way better option than alot of anime industry stop being a hater if u dont like it then dont watch it . and P.s u dont even know slang "bro" end of conversation if u reply more it would be tiring to waste my time.
Delicious in dungeon is not even close to Frieren. Get better taste.
@@Gecko3456 You are just lonely, nerdy anime boy, don't speak to me about taste, thanks.
To all the next frieren fanboys - i would wish yall to not procreate, but that is unnecessary, since your future is bleak on that part anyways. Muting this thread, since you are as pestering and dumb as mosquitos, months after my comment you have nothing to do then come and leave your idiotic opinion. Sayonara
