Táta Vega is an incredible singer who has shown talent her whole life. In part one of her interview with Lydia Nicole, Táta Vega tells her amazing story of how she rose from living on the streets of Hollywood to getting cast in the musical Hair, to then performing with Earthquire and being discovered and signed by Berry Gordy. Táta made four solo albums for Motown and is the singing voice for Margaret Avery in the film The Color Purple.
She also sang with Andrae Crouch for years and was featured in the documentary 20 Feet From Stardom. Over the years she has graciously loaned her voice as a background singer for many top recording artists, including Elton John, Michael Jackson, and Ray Charles.
Táta Vega has an amazing spirit and unbelievable voice that fills your soul. Please enjoy the first part of our interview with this inspiring and extraordinary woman.

Tata Vega....Met her back stage at one of the Andre Crouch concerts during his final years....She was such a sweet down to earth lady, very warm & easy to talk to..
Tata is the BEST!!!!
I love the song "mercy" with Andraé and I especially love the verse where Tata sings: "We are your people who are called by your name we humble ourselves and we pray we seek your face turn from our wicked ways forgive our sins and heal our land"!
If, TaTa ever gave her full testimony about her trials, tribulations struggles and her journey, it would depict the source of where she got her deep expressions, from pain to contentment.
This is so interesting i love her am glad she reconnected with God to really real her full potential to go even greater places in the music world
Tata is amazing ❤️
Tata is a force of nature!
Yes, she is!!!
She seems really down to 🌎.Im glad you did this for her real fans
Tata you are amazing. The interviewer is right on spot. It was a huge thing for a Latina 2 be on Motown. I felt like she did wow !!
I NEED YOU NOW, is one of my favs.
But she sounds so good!!Before Gloria, and Jennifer Lopez
ANDRAE CROUCH to the rescue!!!
I Love Tata.
Tats is the best❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of the greatest voices on the planet
Yes she is!❤️❤️❤️
I loved the vibe of this interview, even though I could barely hear Tata most of the time. I love her. Hope she's doing well.
Next time we will make sure sound is better. But I am glad you enjoyed the interview
I love seeing two powerful women together. TH-cam needs more content like this 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽✊🏽
Nice! 💥💥💥
I love your energy on this!!! I also love your intro slide.
Now What Thank you so much
God picks the foolish things to confound the wise...Tata I've been riding way before Color Purple..when I heard Earth calling Heaven on KJLH in Cali..working maintenance at McDonald's late nite..i searched you down and I've been listening to you every since....sad people only know you from the movie..but a blessing that people were exposed to you thru the movie...out of many blessed singers I've grown up on..you became my favorite that nite...still even now..i believe You are an extension of God..
What a beautiful thought. Thank you Reginald. 💜
@@LydiaNicoleLive she is definitely unsung..god bless you for recognizing.
Tata is definitely unsung and underrated. She is one of our icons. 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Thanks so much.
Great raport! Love this!
Thank you so much!!
@@LydiaNicoleLive can't wait for part 2!
Tata Vega might be a great person to tell us about Andrae Crouch. Not to disrespect herself or her great artistry and contributions to music in general and Gospel in particular. I think many people would love to hear her experience with Crouch, as he was maybe the most important Gospel artist from last Century and beyond. IMO Andrae was so great and at the same time so difficult (for me) to comprehend. I would love some good Movie Maker to bring his life to the Big Screen.... and Tata might be the greatest contributor to such an enterprise, considering Sandra passed away recently. God bless.
I will reach out to her next month and see if she would be up to talk about them.
@@LydiaNicoleLive great.
One of the greatest singers
Almost 20 minutes and still no questions regarding Crouch or The Color Purple. Bad interview.
So sorry, it was to be a two part interview, but she ask that I not post the second art. She want to redo that part but we haven’t been able to reset another time to shoot it yet. ☹️ hopefully soon❤️
@@LydiaNicoleLive I appreciate your kind feedback. I am Boricua and a big Crouch fan since the 1970 so... Tata is well beloved. She has a lot of personality and I am sure she isn’t easy to interview!
@@LydiaNicoleLive I plan to talk about Crouch and Tata in my channel in the future.
@cmorales5 actually Tata is wonderful to interview and she is a dear friend who I love. She makes me proud as a Latina
