I'm Nigerian, visited Dakar a couple of years back and was completely impressed. Very different from Nigeria. Nigeria (Lagos/Abuja) is more contemporary in many ways, but things like the Central Business District with tree-lined plaza is something Lagos can only dream off. Same with the beach front establishments that would rival anywhere else globally (no exaggeration) in places like Almady, in the Terrou-bi/Radisson Blu area.
I am from Ethiopia, all the way from east Africa, and visited Senegal some years back. African Renaissance monument and Goree slave museum are places to be visited. What impressed me the most was the hospitality of people, Teranga. And you can walk around Dakar day and night with no problem.
@Oumy Neferti Yep something like that👍... I need to go back to 116th and get me some DiBi it's been a while I have not been there. Thank you sis Diam akk khewaal 🙏
Thank you for this one! I seen bunch of other videos about Senegal all good but never seen walking in the streets etc. Great one and gives better idea!
Goree's Slave House is definitely well preserved. The Elmina Castle in Ghana is the largest followed by Cape Coast. With that said this is a very nice video. Thank you for sharing.
If you go, don't forget to learn about the history of Jacqueline Lemoine and her husband. They were from Haiti. They made great career, became Senegalese citizens. I won't tell you much. Find it by yourself! Interesting people!
Funny, I’m going to Portugal in June, and I’ll go to the easiest African country I can add. Tunisia and Senegal are my top contenders, but Senegal requires a shot. Maybe, Morocco. People are telling me to go to all these places, they don’t realize you need to pay, and apply for a visa ahead of time. I wish more African countries made travel easier.
Yeah, people kept asking me why i skipped some countries, but they don't understand that you need visas for many African countries as an American. It depends on what you're looking for, but I enjoyed Morocco. Plus, it's closer to Portugal and no Visa needed for Americans.
@@slyslife Yes, Tunisia also. Tunisia, all you need is a valid passport. They don’t care about how many months you have, as long as it’s valid during your stay. Fine, as long as you can get a direct flight. My passport is expiring in a few months. It just didn’t get used as much as I planned. 😔🦠
@@sewruba2 No, but at the time I was planning to go, it required Yellow Fever shot. Ghana also required 1 more shot, and at the time I was researching, all updated Covid shots, but also I have to get a visa. 2 other countries in West Africa required visas as well. The point, was making sure you know all the requirements for all the places you planned to visit, when you think you’re just bopping around. It would be great to have more regional visas. The shots, it just depends on varying conditions. I had a flow chart for my 1st planned trip I cancelled for 2020.
Hey Sly! I’m almost a year late to the party, but really enjoyed watching this video! A couple of things - we speak Wolof, Pulaar, Sereer and other ethnic languages in Senegal. I’m going to subscribe and check out your other videos on Senegal! 🇸🇳🇸🇳🇸🇳🇸🇳
Wow! Sidewalks, clean streets, no gutters or garbage or a random guy pooping openly on the street. Nigeria really needs to improve because it has all these things, when Senegal seems to be orderly.
