I agree with you on that one ☝🏾, Imagine that you discovered this album 💿 right here when you were 12 years old, that’s when I first heard this album, and then I didn’t know what genre it was, but I knew right away that it was extremely unique, Allen was the best guitarist ever, and Bill Buford was a beast on the drums 😳👍🏾 The “UK” Album it came out in 1978 I was born in 1966
A funny, intelligent and very humble guy that Alan. Those are the qualities that allowed him to become so great. I would have loved to just hang out with him at the pub. ^-^
Aylbdr Madison : i got to hang out with him at a pub, in cypress california, one evening. a guy who road managed for “big al” was my friend. alan lived in orange county. my friend arranged for the three of us to meet at a british club in cypress. we drank a few boddington ales and shot the shit for a couple of hours. talked about bruford, gong and soft machine, and other bands. he was just a great guy.
He was at the bar in Swallos Inn in San Juan Capistrano when my band was setting up for our gig and I said hi and asked him if he'd like to play with us but he was just there to relax. We talked about Carvin and one of their guitars that I bought and I said I liked his pickups best of the ones I tried there. Cool guy.
When I mentioned the left handed SG I used to have, of course Jimmy Haslip has resolved that issue in his own self taught virtuoso way. Jimmy can take any right hander's bass and play it as is. What in the world got him to even attempt to do such a thing, let alone actually do it, is beyond me. It's beyond anybody else too.
In retrospect, if I would have kept that left handed SG, maybe adding the Bigsby tailpiece vibrato kit, that is available without drilling extra holes, would have offset that weight and perhaps added some balance to it. Therefore, helping to keep that neck from sliding down towards the floor. Or at least not so much anyways.
Yeah, just like a sawed-off shotgun it can cover everything. Looks? The reason why I don't play one is because people expect to hear Allan Holdsworth coming out of it. I can't live up to that.
John Heussenstamm , just hold your head up high be yourself and do your own thing. Screw what other people think. They’re jealous and have low opinions of themselves.
Mate I've got an ibanez jem and I can barely play a note of Steve vai lol, but it's so comfortable and enjoyable to play, the craftsmanship makes playing it so easy so you can play for longer times!
Hmm, I think it looks odd cause it's too small. Especially on AH, who appears to be a pretty big guy. I'd like to hear what it sounds like as a conventional guitar. AH's sound doesn't sound much like a guitar. He goes for a sax sound. A sax sound with lots of treble rolled off and heavy on the effects.
Again, Jimmy Haslip solved the problem on his own, but for me, being left handed, instead of all the haphazard attempts at turning guitars upside down, trying to get whatever I could get, Carvin would have been the best thing for me right out of the starting gate. Instead of going through all that drudgery, and lack of tone mess over the years.
Great points about guitar. It is ugly but balanced and easy to play. Soundwise it is one dimensional. You can't hear any wood resonance. Plastic sounding. Allan as guitarist huge inspiration. Can't play like him but trying changes my playing too.
@@kipponi The "tonewood" myth has been thoroughly debunked. It's been taken out behind the woodshed and put down. There's one video in particular here on TH-cam that proves it unequivocally. It's something like "Tested: Where Does The Tone Come From In An Electric Guitar?"
No no any well made headless guitar as mixing with chorus and effects is the best!! But if you want that natural woody spank of Strat no nooo you won't find it hear
It is not ugly it is beautiful BUT if you want a truly beautiful headless guitar check out the zt3 it is factory looking not like a handmade Klein or whatever but I actually think it the perfect looking guitar
Allan was the finest electric guitarist in any genre ever.
RIP

J'adore le paradoxe insensé entre la beauté de sa musique et celle de ses chemises ;)
Humble person, superb guitarist. it's always a pleasure to hear from you and learn something new.
it absolutely sounds incredible. I love the sound of this guitar and his entire equipment.
Such a loss. RIP Allan. So glad I got to meet and have a beer with you.

PIT INN
A legend
The Legendary, Allan Holdsworth, just being the legand that he is.
ギターの神様だと思ってます
He was a Genius. Take a look at Per Nilsson. He has a similar sound and play.
Love Per. Nice guy, good sense of humour. Great licks.
Per is amazing. Good call! He does a Holdsworth cover as well!
I love it! !!!!!👍👍👍👍

Good lord that is a low action

@elonmust7470 It definitely was, and, in addition to that, the radius of the guitar was 20

And if you play a strat some morons may expec from yout to play like Jimi ...Why you give a shit?
It would be kind of weird to play one of these and bust out Green Day. Has to be jazz fusion or something similar. LOL

Tenho uma guitarra, moro no Brasil... Amazonas...segundo músicos ele pertenceu ao grande ALAN...como saber se realmente?
2014年のホールズワース。太ってるね。超天才ギタープレーヤー。亡くなってしまって本当に残念。
But Alan, your play is forever.
I know what he means with the SG. Every single time I'm trying to keep the neck from pointing at the floor.
Incredible sound Allan had but I don't understand anything he's playing
Thanks for posting !!!!!!!

Alan! Go on my son. Im getting a carving
They're kiesel now (again) but they're custom so you can order them with the carvin logo

He was playing headless guitars waaaay before Carvin/Kiesel. He had the Steinberg and then the Bill DeLap.
