The Things Not to Do on a Cruise
When on a cruise, safety is paramount. So there are several things that you should never do as they are dangerous for you and everyone else onboard.
Among the most essential items is you should never throw things overboard. No garbage, trash, or even perishable items should ever be discarded.
If caught doing this, you can be kicked off the ship. Likewise, one thing you should not do on a cruise is climb or stand on the railings on the outdoor decks. This can lead to severe injury or even potentially death.
Smoking is also strictly regulated on cruise ships. Almost every cruise line prohibits smoking in cruise ship cabins and on your balcony. Smoking is only allowed in certain areas, and if you smoke in non-designated areas, that can lead to removal from the ship.
Another surefire way to get removed from your next cruise is to try and sneak alcohol onboard. Most cruise lines allow two bottles of wine in your carry-on bag. But anything above that will be confiscated. Plus, if you make a big fuss about this, the cruise line can deny boarding at the terminal.
Likewise, other items are also prohibited, including weapons, some sports equipment, and contraband, like narcotics and related paraphernalia. If this is found in your luggage, your cruise vacation might come to a screeching halt.
Ensuring everyone's well-being means practicing good hygiene. So, you should never skip washing your hands. That is especially true before meal times.
If you want to ensure you don't get to sail, skip going to muster drill. Once onboard, there are several things you should avoid doing as well.
Among the things you should not do on a cruise are being rude to the staff and hog lounge chairs.
Another way to kick yourself off the ship is to miss the all aboard. Yup, if you become a pier runner at a port, it is up to you to get transportation back to the vessel. So, that is one thing you definitely do not want to do. Likewise, ignoring your cruise line's dress code is something you should never do.

"Gratuities" are an unfortunate blight on the industry. It is a game they play to artificially suppress the posted price of the tour to the customer. If they are automatically applied to your account, they mean nothing as far as a "reward" for great service - and by shaming travellers who may consider attempting to reverse gratuity charges, it makes them essentially mandatory. Pretty much the opposite of what gratuity means. If the company is so sure the service is excellent, then they should be honest, pay the staff accordingly and adjust the cruise price.
@@em9341 Perhaps I wasn't clear enough for you. I believe they should automatically be paid reasonable wages instead of having to be dependent upon gratuities or as they call them crew appreciation. The cruise lines artificially suppress the price on the backs of the workers. It's a game they play where they pit customers against the workers.

Sailing without a passport is such a key one - it always amazes me when I see people at the cruise port having a meltdown because they didn't bring the right documents. If in doubt, pack it!
On one time on our first cruise my husband had his original birth certificate ; however I didn’t I did have a birth certificate,but it was from the hospital not from the courthouse. Ever since that day soon as we got home I went to the courthouse, and purchased my original birth certificate, and now going on our 6th cruise we both have a passport

You know how certain cruise lines are 'supposedly' known for passenger issues and altercations?
These can happen anywhere on any ship, but my advice is if you see one, LEAVE THE AREA. Do NOT video it, don't egg on the participants, just split. You don't want to accidentally be gathered in by Security just because you're too close to the action or ID'd on camera in the general area.
I had read about a couple on a cruise line who were ostensibly mis-identified as people who started an altercation while getting off their ship in a port. On a ship where a lot of passengers look like everyone else, it can happen, unfortunately.
Have your 'spacial awareness' "Spidey-senses" going at all times!
