This summer I have changed two things in my wardrobe. First off I went back to wearing shorts. I’m 58 and have not worn them in years. Second, I have cut way back on the black. I made both of these changes simply because I am tired of being so hot and it has been a game changer!
I absolutely loved the color of the shirt you were wearing. It stunned me to see you in that color. It made you look so young and fresh. I am happy that you are at least trying to incorporate some color and this is coming from someone who only wore black for YEARS! I still wear black but I’ve incorporated color and realized that it makes my face look so different than black.
Colors are nice to have but if you feel more beautiful and comfortable in the Black and Grace and that’s what you should do, you’re beautiful no matter what you wear

I’m a summer, lots of cool pastel colors. You would cringe (as a choice for you) but i really like it. I love that you are autumn, that makes a lot of sense to me because it is soft and warm. Instead of black, you can also think chocolate brown. That would be a great basic. Only problem is it is not as readily available as black. But maybe navy will be easier to come by. Well! Not what I expected 😂 I had my colors done back in 1983. I am also an autumn😊 I tend to go towards warm brown for my solids in place of black. I wear some navy and I then add in my other colors.

But it helps to accent the perfect color close to your face - even if your blouse, shirt or tee is off a bit. I'm a Spring so gold jewelry is right for me. You are so warm with gold. Black & white are cool with silver. Warm doesn’t glow with cool but lights up with the warm colors. You look beautiful no matter what you wear but you really glow with the warm colors.
I'm so happy to see so many people doing color analysis. I am on the board of Dress for Success and we have been doing color analysis way before it was trending. It's funny because so many of us gravitate to black because its dark and flattering, but most people never understood or realized that shades are not always flattering against eye color and skin tone. When you lifted up your color swatches, I feel like its spot on.

I absolutely love my Zella leggings as well. I buy them during the Nordstrom anniversary sale. I had my colors done a long time ago (Soft Summer) and have stuck with the colors ever since. I can pretty much wear any cool color as long as it isn’t overly bright.

I definitely prefer neutral colors and absolutely love black clothing the most. It is always best to wear, what makes you feel great in it. I follow the 80/20 rule and it keeps my wardrobe predominately neutral with enough splashes of color for me to maximize my wardrobe.

I think wearing all black or gray (or some other neutral) is sometimes the result of not having confidence in our fashion choices. Therefore, once you were given the assurance on the specific colors that compliment you, it became a huge confidence boost and allowed you to make this change. Good for you! 😊

Ashley, like you I love black. I also love purples, blues, pinks and white, but, black is my main go t especially in the fall and winter. Those are 2 seasons I hate. I love spring and summer. Sometimes stepping outside of our comfort zone can be great for us! Live the pop of colors you’re doing! I’ve been doing the same I’ve been precasting and negotiating walking for myself but lately I been doing it everyday as long as nothing is going on and I feel great I go for it! Ashley, like you I love black. I also love purples, blues, pinks and white, but, black is my main go t especially in the fall and winter. Those are 2 seasons I hate. I love spring and summer. Everything wakes up and is so beautiful. Fall everything dies and winter is blah. But, good job on your part for trying to bring change. Thanks for the video and God Bless.

I found a local company on Facebook that did mine. If you search color analysis near me on google you will find people that do the service and you will go to their house for the consultation

You did good, Ashley! Give yourself some grace. I've always thought navy blue looked beautiful on you! I remember your 1st house tour in that flower dress with shorts outfit. Lol I'm also autumn. Red is in my color wheel but when I wear it, I feel angry. Lol I get a lot of compliments but it's just not me. I compromise and wear olive green, that way I'm thinking of the Olive Garden. 😂
