Paul is an artistic genius. Nothing weird going on here. Just beautiful music!!!!

Music has no limits, this proves it quite well :)
Where should I start? Not only a skillful integration of the effects, loops, transducer and tone, which are completely masterful per se, but vibrato, growling multiphonics, improvisational skills and impecable phrasing.
This is a completly step forward for the bassoon, may more woodwind musicians take the 'weird' path in their instruments.
    Great live content MWM :D

Have you heard of Colin Stetson? Amazing next level saxophone

@@thomp9054 No I don't but thanks for the recommendation I'll check it out!
I should had written oboe, flute and clarinet players instead of woodwind in general, I'm quite sure there's people out there doing this kind of things with effects and extended techniques on cylindrical woodwinds, for example there's really old barrelpiece pickups and effects for the clarinet but I guess is not that integrated into the prog music scene, in this case Paul Hanson is doing exactly this for the bassoon: breaking a few borders and bringing his instrument to a whole new audience.
In fact, if you're reading this Mr. Garone, it would be a rad happening if you set a blind date for Paul Hanson with The Stickmen, if you think about it the bassoon is another big wood stick/tube so makes total sense 😆

I've known of him for years, but was able to see & hear him live with the Billy Cobham band. Cobham was amazing as always, but hearing this guy play lead-lines, shred, comp',.....live and in the moment, was a treat!!

I wish I could have seen him when he played with Cobham. It was right by my house but I had a work commitment or something.

Stirring performance of an unforgettable recording. The morse code nuances at the end of the original were pure genius. WELL DONE!

really enjoyed this . also I worked as a cable splicer for AT+T which is similar . we didnt use gaffs ( spikes on your boots to climb the telephone poles) we carried ladders , so technically we werent the real deal but yeah for years i was working up there on the telephone poles. 53 ground locations ( with a helper) and 18 ariel - my top numbers . carrying a 50 lb ladder , 30 lbs of tools and then the equipment ... around fences ... it was hell allright . i remember one day on the ground it was 1:30 i was finished . sun shining, i had started working on the actual run at 10:30 am , and i had made over 400 dollars . that was the one good day .

When asked what Frank Zappa thought was the most difficult instrument to play, Frank said the Bassoon. And I'm still having problems with the Kazoo.
