That was a very descriptive tour of an elevator machine room, nice job Jason I really like that. It’s not too often you get a machine room tour with that much description on how the elevator works.
STL Elevators I wish more elevator machine room videos were just as descriptive as the one you made. It’s not too often you get someone to go over all of the engineering of the elevator
A great motor sound is the highlight of all Schindler elevators. It really must've smelled in there!
3:12 THATS what you used for your quote on quote “Voiced controlled elevator”!
Very nice machine. Although I wish there was more cable management on the pump starter section. (1:27) That is actually the control valve. EECO does not make pumps. The pump would be below the oil line (and therefore, very hard to see). Still, another great video STL! Keep it up :)
I would not have laid the liquid tight flex conduit on the floor from the secondary disconnect switch. However installed 3/4 EMT and if needed a junction box to change over to flex to get into the machine housing.
Epic!
It goes up fairly quickly but descends very slowly
How can I confirm if the oil tank is double-walled or not??
220V seems low for a hydraulic elevator power unit w/ 3 phase power. I looked at the magnetic motor starter, it was three phase. Most of the commercial ones are around 330-440V AC.
The 220V is most likely referring to the line to neutral voltage (Most service terms use the line to neutral voltage [Eg. 120v 3 phase = 120-208v]). For line to line, it would be around 400V in this case. Which is what I expect for this controller.
It makes the same noises as my coffee machine. ha.
@@stlelevators It's a Barista Espresso, and it can be quite noisy. :)
What exactly does the system do when the elevator is going down? Why does it make that wooshing sound as it goes down?
The wooshing sound is the hydraulic fluid going from the piston back into the tank while the car goes down. The motor sound is the pump filling the piston with fluid which causes it to go up.
This elevator goes up fairly fast, but comes down slowly. (But is this normal for hydraulic elevators?)
Where is that located
If he doesn't say, and it's not in the description or title, then he doesn't want anyone to know, and so don't worry about it.
Our main fuse box has power, but the controller won't turn on. Any thoughts on why we can't get it to turn on? Figured I'd ask before calling Schindler 🤣
@@stlelevators They appear to be good, at least the ones I could see....Schindler told us not to touch anything inside the boxes, but it really seems like it should be something simple to get our 1 elevator running again.... it's weird too, we have 3 total elevators, 2 work just fine, and all 3 main fuse boxes have power, but the 1 control box is clearly not on... the UPS at the bottom is not on either, when I hold down the power button on the UPS, it blinks and makes a sound, but then turns right off... it feels like it should be something simple, but we don't want to break anything! Thanks!
If you did hoistway door bypass, would the elevator be able to move with the hoistway door open at full speed?
Absolutely not !!!!
This is why only trained and licensed elevator people have access to these areas. Not sure who this guy is but he really has no business making these videos. I'm pretty sure he is not a member of IUEC Local #3.
@@donaldmiles3232 Also, he had permission to go in there and you need to mind your own business and take your anger out on someone else.
You should go to Chuck e cheese handover nj which has a Schindler elevator.
A machine room at a house. 🏠 and I wish to have an elevator at my house.
That would be cool. Gotta get three phase power if you want anything more than a residential elevator :)
Why did you want to see this machine room?
That is a terribly loud machine room
This is not as loud as most get. This is actually one of the quieter ones I’ve heard.
This actually sounds way quieter than the machine room for my college's dorm elevator.
That’s something you don’t get to see everyday. Very cool!
Glad you enjoyed it!
