Yeah Shoppers, Village Supermarket and Target has lots of international products that really surprised me. I lived in Mexico for 4 years prior to living in Tanzania. An you couldn’t get any UK normal products in Mexico, very hard to even find a Cadbury’s chocolate bar. So very nice to have all these brands here in Tanzania. Although they do come at a cost as imported. Where in Scotland are you from? That’s cool you are visiting Tanzania in July. Just visiting for a holiday or for work purposes?
@@TheDockrays My wife is Tanzanian and she travelled home last week. I am working in Germany and will join her in July because our son is still at school here. We have a house near Bagamoyo but we are going to start building our retirement home near the beach just south of Kigamboni. Hence the main reason for my visit this year. I am originally from Glasgow.
@@gordy21 oh wow; that’s awesome you have a house in Bagamoyo. An yeah probably a better choice to retire in Kigamboni - as looks really nice there and more established/closer to Dar. We love Scotland, more Edinburgh than Glasgow though. Scotland has some amazing natural beautiful places to visit - St Andrews and any golf course town from the British Open I love. That’s amazing you get the opportunity to travel and work such as in Germany and the United Kingdom; an also have plans to retire in Tanzania with your wife - enjoy!
Hellow am Tanzanian gir and am 22 years and a have o-level education,, would you please help me to get a job in your supermarket please even to make a clean or to prepare some tea or coffee
Hi, the supermarkets are not mine. Therefore I would suggest you go into the shop and talk to the manager if you would like to work in one. I just purely made the video. Thank you.
Haha: yes the intro is very dramatic: probably not the best for my types of videos an more for a Hollywood trailer lol. As I tend to stick with show and not talk on my videos to let people just see what each attraction/location is like. An this video is really long too; but good to skip through if you want to know what you can actually get here in Dar es Salaam. Thank you for the comment though.
Yeah cherries are hard to find in Dar es Salaam. The other items you suggested, I am not entirely sure. However, in Tanzania, fruit and vegetables can be bought on the street stalls on the side of the road/markets. They are extremely fresh and available when they are in season.
@@TheDockrays I have yet to see canned or fresh/frozen salmon or a variety of sardines, cleaning gloves, and paper towel holders! AND their prices for kitchen items I usually get at thrift stores ARE GINORMOUSLY PRICED!!! A $10 toaster for $85 BUCKS or so??!!! Good thing I brought my air fryer! 😬
@@Sistasu1 these 4 shops have those items - definitely Shoppers do for Frozen Salmon and cleaning gloves. But yeah you are right, the prices here are ridiculous compared to other places around the world. It is very expensive to buy imported products in Dar es Salaam. Stick to local products and try some of the markets to bring down the cost of your shopping.
Hi, there are 5 different supermarkets in this video. One of the bigger ones is called Shoppers an has around 5 different chains mainly in Dar es Salaam and in Arusha too. One of them is in Milimani Shopping Mall filmed here and the other is Mbezi Beach location of Shoppers. Thank you.
Nice
Shoppers even has Irn Bru which is good news for visitors from Scotland. I'll be there again in July just to check that they still stock it.

Hi, you need to go to the supermarkets and apply: I don’t work for them, this is just a You Tube video.
The intro music had me on the edge of my seat waiting for a chocolate bar to attack
