I both love and dread the moments when Jack switches to calling her Phryne. On the one hand, it's a glimpse into the depths of his feelings for her (which, to be fair, are fairly transparent anyway), but on the other hand it only happens because the shit has well and truly hit the fan in potentially life-threatening ways.
I remember thinking when I watched the beginning of 1x7 that I was gonna freak out when they kiss for the first time ever and then 40 minutes later I just lost myself completely when they did. Even though it was to protect their cover, I KNOW they both enjoyed it
I am so disappointed in the movie. I think it actually cheapens the series. There is virtually no chemistry between Phryne and Jack, and the story line is really lame. I wanted to like this so much.
I was impressed by how well the actors did with a plot and a script that were decidedly lacklustre. It would have been better without the "you were gone for months and married another man/I don't owe you an explanation" situation. They could have gotten together in the first 20 minutes and the rest of the movie could have had them navigating a new relationship while simultaneously solving the case. That would have been more true to the character development prior to the movie. It wouldn't have fixed the plot, but it would have been better.
@Ralph Waldow I completely agree!! I was so excited when I heard a movie was coming out and I got Acorn just to watch it. It was the biggest disappointment. The movie tried to do a mystical/magic Indiana Jones rip off thing and I was like....what???? Where is this coming from? Dot, Hugh, Cec, and Burt were in the movie for two minutes. It was not at all true to the spirit and legacy of the show. The chemistry between her and Jack was so magnificent in the show because it felt so organic and effortless. In the movie, it was like they were trying to get lightning to strike twice and it didn't happen. I pretend that the movie didn't happen. I like to think it was a dream Phryne had when she was in a coma from one of her escapades in catching a criminal. I hope they bring back the old show. That's my biggest wish.

I agree the script needed SOME WORK lol but I think their chemistry was wonderful. I do hope it opened us up for another film or series of the show.
