I'm about 3 hours in and really enjoying how charming this game this. It really makes me miss when there used to be more lower budget B Games like this. Games that are flawed and lack some of the polish of games with a a higher budget but get really creative and weird.

That's because it was built for PS4 (and the other consoles)...... wait until we start getting more PS5 exclusives a few years from now..... the load screens will go back to taking forever. Remember when PS4 came out (maybe you're too young?), the load screens were only a few seconds (because a lot of games weren't made with the full potential of a PS4), then toward the end of PS4, load times took forever. It's a brainwashing trick that game companies do to gamers. They make it seem like the new hardware has amazing load times (and they do, but only for weaker games that can be played on old hardware AND/OR exclusive weaker games on the new hardware), and a lot of gamers (such as yourself) fall for it, and praise it like it's something amazing.
@@ericvisser5253 He's exaggerating a bit considering when the PS4 and Xbox One released they were still using outdated hard-drives while most PCs had transitioned towards faster SSDs... But load times at the beginning of the generation were most definitely shorter compared to the minutes of load-times that were common during the final years of the generation... Before, long load times were generally reserved for larger open world games, but by the end even more linear/hub experiences were taking minutes to load.
Still having lots of fun with it on gamepass day one. Enjoy the beautiful artstyle. It's not perfect but lots of love to the developers for making a wonderful game.

Played it for 15 minutes on Game Pass last night...Got sick of all the loading (XBOX ONE) and stopped playing. No way a basic turn based game like this should be loading 10 seconds before / after every battle.
It's a shame the devs went with the boring visual novel approach for dialog interactions. I'd prefer seeing these charming character models move and interact within the world itself when speaking

Played this for free on Gamepass, and as much as people are dissing the reviewer for being overly harsh on genre tropes... the score is probably a little high. The game is truly and dreadfully sloggy, and this is coming from someone that cut their teeth on NES and SNES RPGs and still goes back to them from time to time.
No. There's compelling turn-based combat, and there's long, poorly-designed slogs against meat walls that don't take advantage of the game's mechanics. Wanna guess what this is?
