Thanks for the monthly update. I just received the new Jimi Hendrix box set. I’m listening through the 3 CDs now and will later checkout the movie on the BluRay. Love what the family has done releasing Jimi’s music. Amazing how much he recorded in just a few short years. Greatest guitarist and performer in rock IMO. Rock on!

For jazz rock fusion suggest Jeff Beck’s Blow by Blow and Wired. A bonus is the follow up live album, Jeff Beck with the Jan Hammer Group Live. One of my favorite live albums that you don’t hear much about. Rock on!

I marvel at how you can keep all of that new music straight in your head. Really looking forward to your review of the Iommi /Huges LPs as well as your recollections of "Who do we think we are".

Hi Phil, I am a relatively new subscriber (about 3 months) but I can verify your sum up of the channel was spot on for newbies. Particularly look forward to hearing Tony banks and Thin Lizzy 76. Cheers.

Got The Fanny box set this week. It’s excellent. A review on Now Spinning is all it needs now.

Stay "Rock-centric" Phil, it's s big reason why I come here. What you just said about just being around CD's and albums is true. I can sit in the middle of my collection and just look at it, then pull some album out that I haven't listened to in years and read the liner notes. The physical music formats don't just have a sound and look, they have a feel to them.

Hey Phil! Great video. I'm new to the vinyl community and I just found your channel. Loved so many of the albums you held up. I'm going to go and check out some of your previous videos as well. I just dropped a new video today, myself. Thanks and Cheers!

Hi Phil. Thanks for the update. By the way, I've been listening to the new David Gilmour album quite a bit after watching your review. I've really been enjoying it. Looking forward to the future videos! Also hope you can Biff Byford on soon too. That would be awesome! Watching from South Texas in the USA.

Thank you for this video Phil, I am surprised you have never adopted/co-opted the Doobie Brothers song 'The Doctor' as an intro/outro to your youtube boradcasts. Music is one doctor who is generous with the thought provoking medications....

Great video Phil and a lot of great stuff to review.
We all start with one record and one band and it just escalates from there. My first record was Old, New, Borrowed and Blue by Slade from 1974 when i was 9. I am 59 now heading towards 60 and i am still discovering bands that have been around for years and i still enjoy the thrill as much as i did when i started my journey into music all those years ago.

Great video and thanks for the update Phil. Although there are Jazz tinged tracks in my collection (Doors, Bowie), I struggle with old style hardcore Jazz but I'm open to your Miles Davis recomendation.
I'm currently working my way through,
    Luck and Strange - DG
    No Name - Jack White
    Full Circle - Sweet
Live from La La Land - Jon Anderson
The Ultimate Live at the BBC Box Set - The Yardbirds.

Looking forward to your dive into the Miles comprehensive box set! I've had it for a few years now, and it is, as you described, an absolute BRICK! I feel that no matter how much time I spend on it, I'll never quite get an "immersive" sense of each of the albums on an individual basis. I accidentally stumbled onto Miles via Sketches of Spain back in the 90s when it was sent to me in error by the good folks at Columbia House ... I couldn't be bothered to return it, so I stuck it on the shelf and didn't get round to playing it for a good six months. But when I did, I was intrigued and kept at it until I finally got it. Over time, I became a fan but certainly not an expert! So I'm definitely looking ahead to your discussion about the great Miles Davis! Cheers, Phil!

Here's an album you may not have heard of, Andy Nixon (of Freedom To Glide) "The Waterline", wow, great Gilmour style guitar playing, strings, hammond, great vocals and melodies. Also, a Tony Banks interview?!, great, would be good to know if he's finished with rock music these days...

I hnow your a rock man, but I love the way you look into new music, I was a zeppelin, black sabbath, Reggae, dub, Motown, mod, punk. But with open mind you can go anywhere in music, disco, funk, blues, R and B, jazz, country. Some of the music you started of on I have been buying in last 10years and how I'm spinging more than ever. The only thing a word say to a new comer is buy what you love, it can be anything and as time gos on your collection will grow and your mind with it. Keep spinning, keep healing and enjoy.

Hi Phil. Now, another coincidence. We have had a few recently, haven't we? My first date, with the woman I married over 35 years ago, was at a Nigel Kennedy concert. The first shows of the Four Seasons tour, in 1987. It was at The Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford, (I was studying, Lizzy was working) on St Valentine's Day!

Seriously Phil, do you get these fancy box sets and vinyls for promotional use by the record companies or do you buy them all with your own money? I always thought, i had a pretty decent paid job, but i couldn't even afford 5% of all the stuff you are showing each and every month. Maybe i should start a channel myself :)

    • @NowSpinningMagazine
      @NowSpinningMagazine  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

Quite a few of these I have had for a while and the larger sets I have bought myself. I do get sent some things but there are a lot I don’t. There are quite a few I can’t afford. I am having a go at making Now Spinning Magazine my full time job and I have given myself a year to see what happens. Box sets I would love to review but are beyond reach currently are Rory Gallagher at the BBC, The Faces at the BBC and the new Hendrix box Set. Thank you for your support - Phil
