Double Decker Root Bridge Trek Cherrapunji Meghalaya 2023 | Blue Lagoon, Rainbow Falls

Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek in Cherrapunji (Meghalaya) was just a vision till we actually accomplished that on our visit to Meghalaya.
3500+ steps to Double Decker Root Bridge, 2000+ more stairs to Blue Lagoon and Rainbow Falls, and 9 hours (approx) of trekking later we understood that what we did was quite something to celebrate and thus decided to share this amazing experience with you all.
The journey was difficult but worth it!
The general fee for guides till Double Decker Root Bridge trekking is 1000/- and if you decide to go further till Blue Lagoon and Rainbow Falls, then the fee for the guide becomes 1500/-. We had decided that if we could complete the trek to Double Decker Bridge in 3 hours, we would go ahead for the other two spots as well. You can also opt to stay there overnight and finish the trekking in 2 days. Homestay options are also available.
Trekking through harsh roads and steep stairs can be a challenging and rewarding experience. The rugged terrain and treacherous path demand physical strength and immense willpower. Despite the difficulties, the breathtaking views and sense of accomplishment make it all worthwhile.
From the breathtaking beauty of the twisted and entwined roots cuddling together to form one of nature's best artwork to the Blue Lagoon with sheer blue water sun glittering surrounded by lush greenery and towering cliffs, is a sight to behold. Earth without ‘art’ is truly ‘eh’!
While returning, the Sun had set and our legs had given up on us. The guide joked how we would be carrying this pain with us as a souvenir of this beautiful place. In conclusion, Double Decker Root Bridge trekking is a must in your Meghalaya Itinerary. Happy Trekking!!
Few things to note:
Time- From Starting Point to Single Decker: 1-1.5 hours(approx), Single Decker to Double Decker- more 1-1.5 hours.(approx), From Double Decker to Blue Lagoon and Rainbow Falls- 2-2.5 hours+.
(This might vary from person to person depending on the speed of their trekking, weather conditions, etc. We took a rest and had refreshments once we reached Blue Lagoon.)
Best Time to Visit- November to April. ( this is an ideal time to trek to the Double Decker Root bridge as it is relatively dry in Meghalaya during this time.)
Guide Fee- 1000/- ( till Double Decker Root Bridge) and 1500/- (if you also cover Blue Lagoon and Rainbow Falls)
