    Wow! At first I didn't think this would work, but I'm amazed at the results. I switched to the "best" eye pattern and have never even thought of going back. Thanks BilliardsDoctor!!

    i appreciate the more natural way of teaching vs most other "teaching" videos. a lot of the times i notice that you explain why and explain your errors on why you got to your new way of playing, etc. to someone like me, it's much easier to relate to and i'm not being "taught" how to do something vs just being spoken to like a homie. it's much more relatable lol. thanks for all the videos thus far.

    Realized why my shooting shots was inconsistent ---wrong eye pattern! (when tired or distracted I would take my eye off of the object ball at the time of executing the shot)What a difference this has made in my game...thanks for posting up this vid BD...God Bless.

    Determining which eye is your dominate eye is extremely critical. here is how. Make a a square using both thumbs and index fingers. Place it with your arms straight out and focus on a spot on the wall. Slowly pull your arms in continue focusing on the spot and thinking of nothing else but the spot. When you pull your arms to your eye your hands will come to your dominate or stronger eye. Most people are right dominate and every lefty I have played with did this and their square wound up around their left eye.
    What the gentleman said was spot on about focusing solely on the spot you want the cue ball to hit, factoring in for throw. By throw I mean when the cue ball is hit with left english the object ball travels to the right of the path if hit with center english. The better the felt the more the throw. A clean set of ball will no throw as far as dirty ones. Practice will enable to determine how much to compensate for the cloth and how clean balls move less. The throw is caused by the side spin being transferred to the object ball. The more slight your stroke the more throw the object ball will have. Its no easy game but if you want to be good it this type of knowledge and skill that will get you there and enable you to shoot good pool on a more consistent basis.

    Good advice because this is what I am training now. Look at the cue ball where you will cue it your eyes looks at the object ball back to cue ball then back to object ball making sure you will hit the cue ball to the part where you want to hit it going back to the object ball last look where the cue ball will make contact to the object ball. This is really the right way than looking at the cue ball last look then hit it without looking at the object ball. Its like gun point the gun at the target you will not look at the front end of the gun but you are looking at your target near or far before you fire. The same in pool your last look after your eyes goes back and forth before striking the cue ball is last look on the cue ball. At first to people who are used to looking at the cue ball last then striking it and not looking at the cue ball this eye pattern last look on the object ball is uncomfortable to them because they are not sure if they are hitting the cue ball at the part where they want to hit it. At first trying this eye pattern last look on the object ball I did not miscue but it is uncomfortable.
    YOU ARE CORRECT YOU HAVE TO TRUST YOUR STROKE WHEN LAST LOOK AT THE OBJECT BALL BEFORE YOU HIT THE CUE BALL. This is the most effective way to be good at pool. Do this for a couple of days up to 2 weeks so 14 days if you will follow my advice because if you are not used to this new eye pattern it will make you uncomfortable. You have to get use to this before you play money game or even friendly game.
    My advice in doing this eye patter last look at the cue ball is perfect how you swing your cue, your stroke and stance.

    I thought this was the only way to shoot lol always look at the object ball before you shoot

    One great way to analogize this is with batting mechanics... The player doesn't watch the bat hit the ball... he watches the ball coming to the bat right up until contact. The cue AND cue-ball are the Bat in this case.... the object ball is the baseball as it were. Just like Paul Newman said, the cue becomes a part of your arm... and the cue-ball too in my estimation.
    Both Cueball and Baseball and object in sniper scope are the TARGET... the principle reason for creating any point of focus in the first place. Eye on the prize.
    The key refinement I hear you making is go thru shot routine, practice strokes, then eye on object ball, Leave it there, THEN commence final backstroke, shot, and follow through.
    It makes perfect sense any way I slice it, and when I think about it, it is what my eye wants to do anyway... Great video! A very fine yet critical detail. Peace.

    I've always looked at the object ball before I shoot I mean you're not going to be able to shoot pool if you don't

    Didn't know this was an actual principle of playing pool. I do this because I measure my angle, set my cue to ball impact point and English, then keep my eye on the exact spot I want the cue ball to strike the object ball

    Can't believe people actually focus on the cue ball in the first place. Interesting

    • @TheBilliardsDoctor
      @TheBilliardsDoctor 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes this is surprising. I would say that more than half of beginners will focus on the cue ball and then transition their eyes to the object ball as they follow through. If you develop confidence shooting this way early, people may just keep their old habits. I know of only 1 pro player who shoots this way, David Alcaide. All the rest of the pros that I have seen will focus on object ball through the entire stroke.

    It's crazy. Because I do that sometimes. I don't know why don't stick with it. Maybe because sometimes I miscue. Hmmm.

    • @TheBilliardsDoctor
      @TheBilliardsDoctor 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since this eye pattern requires very good stroke mechanics since you are not looking at the cue ball during the stroke, it is easier to miscue if you are not a super experienced player, especially on back spin shots. But overall, it is much more accurate and definitely something worth trying
