  • Joining Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous can help you better understand your addiction and find healthy ways to cope with it. The 12 steps can help individuals dealing with all types of substance abuse.
The 12-step program is a set of guidelines for recovery from addiction. The steps were first formulated by the founders of Alcoholics Anonymous, Bill Wilson and Bob Smith, and have since been adapted for many other forms of addiction recovery, including Narcotics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous, and Marijuana Anonymous.
The 12-step program is essential because it provides a roadmap for recovery. It helps addicts take responsibility for their addiction and to make positive changes in their lives. It also offers support and accountability, which are essential for long-term sobriety.

Pray to your higher power and realize you have a disease. Forgive yourself by helping others. Remember, you can't keep it unless you give it away! God bless!!

      @@Spin1968 ‘your higher power’
There’s only one higher power. Please don’t confuse people. Just say ‘God’ in the future. When you say new-age jargon like that you’re leading people to believe there’s more than one God. Jesus said ‘I am THE way, THE truth and THE life. Nobody comes to The Father except through me’. He didn’t say ‘I am A way, A truth and A life’. He said ‘the’. There’s only one way to Heaven. I’m not trying to be harsh, but our words carry weight and we need to be extra careful with how we word things when it comes to spirituality.

@InChristWeTrust999 As a fisher of men, Intitially the concept of a higher power is a great starting point, also used to communicate with addicts in early recovery who are hesitant of religion.

So I have a question. My bf is in a 10 month program. He's been there 4 months? Appears to be a really good program. He was all hearts and flowers for two months until he started going into the forgiveness letter stage. I dont think they are using the traditional 12 steps. He's in some program sponsored by a local bible college. But the program has elements of the steps. He's been an addict for his entire adult life. He is 49. I'm sure he has alot of letters to write. But he's backed way way off. Is the process of seeking forgiveness and making amends overwhelming for the addict? He says he has to focus completely on that and can't write me for while. His words were, " this has to happen." Is this legit or am I probably about to get dumped? No more I live yours. No more " I can't wait to see you" no emotion at all and I waited a month for his last letter. I really don't know if I should even write him anymore.

Sadly he has been indoctrinated into a cult. I hope your relationship works out. The program has broken apart many a relationship that don't entirely see eye to eye on certain things. I'm so sorry!

@cycleofgrowth3202 My hands are tied. If I interfere, I interrupt his program. They have a pretty good success rate. If he had stayed on drugs he'd of died. His habit was out of hand and his suppliers were using him up. The people he hung with die off pretty quick. The cops pulled me over two or three times after he disapeared and even showed up at my house. I'm pretty sure he was about to get busted

The problem of the twelve steps program is that it will make u a slave again but not for the addiction but for the twelve steps .
U need to holy tghe program and u need to keep going there ur whole life .
    And that's is very despaired.

I don't know why it's so hard for the people who believe in the twelve steps to admit that their program doesn't work for everybody . The program always say stay away from being selfish while the program on it's own is very selfish system because the program always claims "i am the only way and if u tried another way u are in denial "
And that's too much funny honestly !
      I wish u the best anyway 🖤
