How is this band not bigger? They definitely set themselves apart from the myriad other death and black metal bands, not many other bands sound quite like them. Henri's vocals are also great, you can understand everything he says.
This song is about reality, the observation of human violence and the appropriate reaction to it. Observation upon the violence of mankind's history, metal isn't about pleasantry, it regards the brutality of existence, and this fucking song rules! God Dethroned are the shit, know they reformed, hope that leads to a new album.
Koud Vuur look it up its not Henri singing that part. I have the album and that other guy sings all the clean vocals. I dont know why they couldn't get him in the video. Plus Henri did all the guitars.
A song about WW1, but so awesome, I like how they made that montage in the cemetary of the dead soldiers who were killed in the WWI, that's how you pay your respects to the soldiers that fought for their country in my opinion \m/

Certainly in the top ten death vocals of all time given what i've absorbed since the late eighties. If you don't have a really good 'death growl', then you cant achieve what is fundamental to death metal and that is ultimately brutality! It's why Black metal is lost with me to some extent because the vocals (generally speaking) just don't get this feel and it looses its oomph.

I have always liked this band not because it is inherently evil, but because they do have a sense of reality, and that reality does not represent true evil, but a sense of true evil, and what that evil holds for humanity. In a way, they represent the truth the life and the way. mend your fences and get right with the lord. I say this because I gave my life to him. If you are someone who is plagued with sleep paralysis, calling upon jesus christ is the only remedy.

Love God Dethroned, but they were never the same after Jens left. I don't think it's a coincidence all their best work was when Jens was there.
