If I unprotect it, make changes and hit save, and close the workbook - does the sheet default back to hidden-do I need to redo this process every time?
Yes, exactly! You could put other code in there, but workbook_open is easy and doesn't require typing/memorizing any actual code and that's why I chose it.

ALT F11 did nothing in online view, have to do it in excel computer copy
