The Art Deco era buildings, seaside setting, and garden landscaping make Rye Playland one of the beautiful parks I have ever seen. They have a mix of classic rides as well as modern rides. They have two dark rides, on being an old mill flume water ride that uses boats instead of cars. They have a special high speed carousel called a Derby Racer, of which there are only three left operating, in the world. They have an original Whip ride which is the most intense Whip I was ever on. They have the classic Dragon Coaster, but you have to be careful with that one. If you are tall and/or overweight, chances are you will NOT be able to get the lap bar all the way down. I was cheated out of a coaster credit because of that. It was a bit of a blemish on my day, but the beauty of the park made up for it. As for Niagra, I been watching it closely. So far, so good!
@@125RollerCoaster Rye Playland is fantastic alone for the setting. It is really sitting on a nice spot. The new company Westchester County has taking care of the park, has been really sprucing the place up and they are making lots of changes. So, it is a good idea to keep an eye on the place. I went there the first time this year because I was becoming disappointed with my local amusement park, which is Adventureland on Long Island. I have been going there for years, but lately the prices have been going up and up and the food quality has been going down. It got to the point where Rye was cheaper and it is definitely a nicer park than Adventureland. Next year I want to visit Quassy in Connecticut. It is close to Lake Compounce and I want to do the two in the same trip. One one day, and the other the next day.
@jukingeo we haven't been to Adventure Land yet but the other two parks are great. We have a walk through of Quassy if you want to check it out and thanks for watching
Congrats on facing your fear! I rode the Colossus ferris wheel at Six Flags St. Louis recently, and it was a bit unnerving. That Calamity Jane potato was my favorite thing about this video. It looks delicious. Do you feel this park will compete with Six Flags Darien Lake in the future?
Thanks for watching and to answer your question, it won't get to Darien Lake levels but for three reasons. First, the amount of land they have won't allow it. They are landlocked by the highway. Second, they are owned by one person. Not a major corporation. They just don't have the money backing them. Finally they aren't built to be large. They are a classic family park which is great. They are there for family memories and great experiences with the little ones before they grow up. Thanks again for watching and more Niagara content coming soon
@@125RollerCoaster Thanks for your perspective on that. It makes total sense from what I have seen in your videos. I am glad to know that both parks can co-exist, and maybe even complement each other.
Short term: no Long term: it could... Both parks are landlocked, BUT, Darien Lake is almost entirely filled in with development. They have very little room to grow without removing more rides, attractions, buildings than they already have. With NAP, Gene Staples has a great opportunity to build it into whatever he wants. He's already put down a solid foundation for it to establish itself as a smaller family park that's affordable (Darien is not for most people right now). Give it time and he has the space to make it grow into something bigger as the park's land fills in. There's more than enough space for larger rides here, it's just a matter of budget. Gene has shown he's willing to spend, and spend a lot though.
I'm in the video twice at 3:23 and 7:23 and I'm in the blue sweater
Nice, thanks for watching. It is always a great time when we visit Niagara. More videos on that park coming soon!!

@JamesBond-rv3es very cool
The dark ride is called the Flying Witch and it was originally at Rye Playland, also in NY.
Thanks for sharing. Hoping to visit Playland in Rye in 2025

Have you ever heard where some of the rides from fantasy island ended up like the gravitron version devils hole after the apex diseaster?
No. I would best scrapped for cash. Sorry
Correction, the thruway by the park is the I-190 not I-90, but great video, I hope they get that Huss Frisbee running soon.
Nice catch. I get tongue tied sometimes but when I rewatched it I heard it.
Thanks for watching and the kind comments
