The US just hates on success. He didn't do well in rap, so he switched genres and now does really well and is criticized for it. If I'm not doing well in one career field myself, I'm going to switch to a new one so why this much hate for him going somewhere else and being successful?

After watching this my opinion improved slightly, he's not TERRIBLE but I still wouldn't call it good or play it on aux. This is the most generic attempt at pop punk ever, his rap career got obliterated so bad he switched to the opposite genre 😂 I find his singing ability to be sub par, his range is really small and his notes are often really shaky cause he has poor breath support. It's not ALL bad and there's times when he sounds good singing like at 17:50 but I just find the music generic/unoriginal, cheesy, and a bit cringe. But to each their own. Especially because/also he uses trap beats and 808s in the music and that's just dumb I mean it's supposed to be punk dude don't use rap style instrumentals in a rock song, pick a genre If you like modern punk listen to neck deep, the story so far, real friends, and movements.

MGK has always loved both rock and hip-hop since the beginning of his career, the "switch" has nothing to do with the em beef and he didn't even switch, he never stopped rapping and his next album is gonna be rap. he never got the opportunity to try out this type of sound in his career and when he did, he went full out with it. if you feel like the punk music he does his generic that's fine, you don't have to like it but just bc it's generic doesn't mean it's bad. there's a thing called versatility, he's not the only artist doing more than one genre but people only take an issue with him doing more than one genre. why put artists in a box? if they can pull off both genres, let them do both. i really don't get why it's so hard for some people to understand that. or maybe they do understand but since it's cool to hate on MGK to get internet points they choose to act oblivious just to hate on him some more. if you don't like it it's fine, but clearly a lot of people do. one thing we're not gonna do is sit here and act like he's not a good live performer though, definitely one of the best live performers whether you like his music or not.

I saw him live at Luxembourg a week ago (the show where he did sid and nancy and 27) there was 300 people maybe 400 it was an incredible experience, after seeing live in Paris in last September in a big venue. This man is an incredible performer. His shows are always insane

@@LizVictory Definitely. It's great knowing that wherever you choose to go in some venues that you won't be far from the band. I would love to see them play in a smaller space. The arena tickets are outrageous. I did just pay almost $400 to see Paramore and be as close as I could though. Which I swore my entire life I'd never pay more than $100 to see a band lol. I've loved them for 15 years though, and damn they are worth every penny spent to see live. Hayley Williams is a phenomenal performer and vocalist. I'll catch MGK soon though hopefully.

@@LizVictory Yea it's definitely a lot. Even bands I use to see before covid in venues for $25, are now $90! Ticket Master, everyone, all companies they're trying to make back what they lost. Musicians and their crew definitely took a Huge hit due to covid. Yea Paramore have been around 20 years, but their fan base is crazy. The arenas for their concerts are packed. The crowd sings almost as loud as she does. They really are a incredible band, and she gives a incredible performance. It's worth it (for me anyway) just to hear her live. She got better with age somehow. I'm definitely gonna catch a MGK show though. I would just love to hear more rap. Not just the 2 or 3 songs he does from Hotel Diablo. His discography is huge, and his music was so original. He was making music ahead of his time, and I still haven't heard a rapper make a sound like that. You don't hear songs that sound like Raise the Flag, Wanna Ball, Alpha Omega etc. People hate on that man so much for nothing. Because of a years old beef with Eminem. @@TLSXX idk who you were talking to but I agree with you race doesn't matter and it makes no sense to even bring it up. That being said, mgk is not good 😂. After watching this my opinion improved slightly, he's not TERRIBLE but I still wouldn't call it good or play it on aux.
This is the most generic attempt at pop punk ever, his rap career got obliterated so bad he switched to the opposite genre 😂
I find his singing ability to be sub par, his range is really small and his notes are often really shaky cause he has poor breath support. It's not ALL bad and there's times when he sounds good singing like at 17:50 but I just find the music generic/unoriginal, cheesy, and a bit cringe. But to each their own. Especially because/also he uses trap beats and 808s in the music and that's just dumb I mean it's supposed to be punk dude don't use rap style instrumentals in a rock song, pick a genre
If you like modern punk listen to neck deep, the story so far, real friends, and movements.

MGK has always loved both rock and hip-hop since the beginning of his career, the "switch" has nothing to do with the em beef and he didn't even switch, he never stopped rapping and his next album is gonna be rap. he never got the opportunity to try out this type of sound in his career and when he did, he went full out with it. if you feel like the punk music he does his generic that's fine, you don't have to like it but just bc it's generic doesn't mean it's bad. there's a thing called versatility, he's not the only artist doing more than one genre but people only take an issue with him doing more than one genre. why put artists in a box? if they can pull off both genres, let them do both. i really don't get why it's so hard for some people to understand that. or maybe they do understand but since it's cool to hate on MGK to get internet points they choose to act oblivious just to hate on him some more. if you don't like it it's fine, but clearly a lot of people do. one thing we're not gonna do is sit here and act like he's not a good live performer though, definitely one of the best live performers whether you like his music or not.

I saw him live at Luxembourg a week ago (the show where he did sid and nancy and 27) there was 300 people maybe 400 it was an incredible experience, after seeing live in Paris in last September in a big venue. This man is an incredible performer. His shows are always insane
I love seeing bands in smaller venues it's more personal. Especially when it's GA all standing. You can move about.

@@LizVictory Definitely. It's great knowing that wherever you choose to go in some venues that you won't be far from the band. I would love to see them play in a smaller space. The arena tickets are outrageous. I did just pay almost $400 to see Paramore and be as close as I could though. Which I swore my entire life I'd never pay more than $100 to see a band lol. I've loved them for 15 years though, and damn they are worth every penny spent to see live. Hayley Williams is a phenomenal performer and vocalist. I'll catch MGK soon though hopefully.

It looks like artists try to regain the money they lost because of covid etc. And I hope you'll see MGK in a small venue too, his rap album will please less his new fans so i'm sure someshows will be smaller haha
@@LizVictory Yea it's definitely a lot. Even bands I use to see before covid in venues for $25, are now $90! Ticket Master, everyone, all companies they're trying to make back what they lost. Musicians and their crew definitely took a Huge hit due to covid. Yea Paramore have been around 20 years, but their fan base is crazy. The arenas for their concerts are packed. The crowd sings almost as loud as she does. They really are a incredible band, and she gives a incredible performance. It's worth it (for me anyway) just to hear her live. She got better with age somehow. I'm definitely gonna catch a MGK show though. I would just love to hear more rap. Not just the 2 or 3 songs he does from Hotel Diablo. His discography is huge, and his music was so original. He was making music ahead of his time, and I still haven't heard a rapper make a sound like that. You don't hear songs that sound like Raise the Flag, Wanna Ball, Alpha Omega etc. People hate on that man so much for nothing. Because of a years old beef with Eminem. That's pure infantile behavior right there. By people who can't think for themselves.
