Jamais deux sans trois ! Fatoumata Diawara retrouve la scène des Concerts Volants pour y interpréter en live des sons issus de l’album London Ko.
Fatoumata Diawara est originaire du Mali. Si c’est grâce au cinéma - en tant que comédienne dans le film La Génèse d’Oumar Sissoko - qu’elle se frotte pour la première fois aux projecteurs, c’est bien la musique qui lui permet de rayonner aujourd’hui dans le monde entier.
C’est en 2006 que Fatoumata Diawara se met à chanter professionnellement, en participant notamment à l’enregistrement d’un album de Dee Dee Bridgewater. Sa rencontre avec Oumou Sangaré la décide ensuite à se lancer dans une carrière solo. Depuis, l’artiste malienne reste fidèle à un univers musical puisant son inspiration dans la tradition du chant wassoulou, qu’elle modernise grâce à des ambiances blues et jazz.
Fatoumata Diawara continue de renouveler la tradition musicale de l’Afrique de l’Ouest avec un album baptisé London Ko. Dans ce projet, elle associe en effet sons synthétiques et rythmes maliens dans une volonté de télescoper hommage et innovation, musiques africaines et occidentales. Un fou mélange des genres qui emporte le public des Concerts Volants !
