@@FernStone Oh hey Fern. I’m glad you liked it. I like your reactions as well and joined the Patreon this week. Album request is full but I have some fun song ideas.
Also, lots of people will tell you to watch their “From the Basement” videos. You should. Seeing them perform this extremely complex music flawlessly live is crazy.
ok computer , a moon shaped pool , and kid a are the next albums you have to react to by them. In rainbows is my clear favorite though OK computer is considered one of the greatest albums of all time. Kid A and a moon shaped pool are right up there with it
For me, I did it chronologically, but I needed to relisten to their whole catalog like 3 times to fully appreciate each album. I would personally recommend listening to Kid A, Amnesiac, and The King of Limbs at the end of your Radiohead journey since they are hard to digest.
Their album Kid A is a pretty obvious one for you, especially if you’re looking for cultural impact or influence. Arguably the most important album of the last 25 years and even today thousands of albums have tried to get close to it. Also, you will be utterly crushed by “How to Disappear Completely” and “Motion Picture Soundtrack”. Transcendently sad and beautiful songs.
I think motion picture soundtrack is their most beautiful song... And they have a lot of beautiful songs. Their album Kid A is my favorite, followed by ok computer and in rainbows
This album is such a grower for me. It’s also pretty addicting. After listening to any song from this album, I feel the need to listen to it for like 5+ times. Such a timeless album. Also your top 3 bangers are also my top 3 lol, great taste !
Fantastic reaction - all I need in particularly affects a lot of people, but for me, there’s nothing sadder or more beautiful like the crescendo that Reckoner reaches when Thon plaintively compares death from life and our loved ones with “because we separate / like ripples on a blank shore “
this album is either the coolest fastest most amazing thing you’ve ever heard (15 step, body snatchers, jigsaw) or the most peaceful saddest thing you’ve ever heard, or it’s a little bit of both (weird fishes)
One of the best bands of all time, in my opinion. OK Computer had a huge impact on the industry. Listening now, it’s crazy to think it came out in 1997.
It's always nice to see someone else discovering my favorite band and listening to them for the first time. Great reactions and comments man, liked and subscribed!
Holy s**t you're so lucky you get to discover Radiohead for the 1st time!!! What would I give for the opportunity haha. They've been my absolute number 1 favorite band since I was 15 (35 now) and still maintain that top spot ❤ yeay do more!!
I think you should try OK Computer next. Released in 1997, it was the album where the 'Radiohead sound' really took hold, and the album that influenced so many artists in the 2000s. Then move onto the follow up Kid A, so you can experience the chronological evolution.
Mate you nailed it - beautiful but dark. Anyone who has ever been prone to melancholy will recognise the underlying foundations - but they get you to smile as well. Musically I challenge anyone to name an album with a better all round tracklist. And yeah the piano break in All I need, guitar explosion in Bodysnatchers and the whole of Videotape get me just as hard now as 15 years ago
Keep checking them out! Each album has a unique sound, and they're all still great! This is my favorite though. They always have a short interlude song like Faust Arp. Also, the album was almost called Reckoner lol
Check out the 2006 bonaroo version of Videotapes, its heavier and more up beat. And you can hear the beat syncopated more. Johnny Greenwood looks like he's just jamming his own song to theirs
Always nice to see more people reacting to Radiohead. It's such a joy! My favorite albums are A Moon Shaped Pool & In Rainbows! In Rainbows seems to be the fan-favorite album, while OK Computer & Kid A are their critically acclaimed cultural mega influences. The transition from OK Computer to Moon Shaped Pool really shows how they changed and grew as individuals as well. Creative masterminds at work, with incredible and important expression of human emotions and deep dark thoughts. Also yeah they're notorious for their conceptual albums that give you a great journey and have phenomenal endings Jigsaw Falling Into Place is currently my favorite song of all time! If you're curious, here's my personal top 5 songs and the albums theyre from: 1. Jigsaw Falling Into Place (In Rainbows) 2. All I Need (In Rainbows) 3. No Surprises (Ok Computer) 4. Lotus Flower (The King of Limbs) 5. Ful Stop (Moon Shaped Pool)
🥺 this album is everything. Loved your reaction ✨💕 Would LOVE to see you react to this album in their Live From The Basement Session. It’s magical. Should be no copyright either
love that you picked videotape, nude and all i need as your favorite songs off of this album, those are my favorite ones as well alongside with reckoner
Thoms lyrics are mostly quite vague, but still finds different ways to speak to you based on your own mood/mindset. Im not really a lyrics person so to me they are one of the best bands out there to convey certain emotions and really immerse you in the sounds.
"We're staying sad" 😂 Depressed Thom is the best songwriter. I can never get tired of In Rainbows. Im sure by now you know this is one of their top albums. They have never put out a bad album. Even Pablo Honey, which many disregard is a good solid album. I'm going to go watch your next RH reaction. BTW, they are the best band ever ❤
I love rock, i love Radiohead and i love In Rainbows so much. Much feelings... my first album was OK Computer, hits me so hard. I have a physical copy of Kid A.
They cram so much amazing stuff in 4-5 min they do not waste a note so precise. I always get a vibe like the Beatles if they formed in a higher tech era they are so creative but the lyrics are almost secondary even like the vocals are a 6th instrument and other than their first record all their albums are great hopefully you react to a lot more.
So glad you’re on to them. In Rainbows, OK Computer and Kid A are usually considered their best three. Those two typically get plaudits as being one of the best of all time. Love them but this has something that makes it my favourite. The Bends and Moon Shaped Pool are like the next tier. Great but I wouldn’t say at the other three’s level.
Dude, you've stumbled upon a pile of great albums if you're doing the entire discography (no Pablo Honey needed lol). Radiohead fanbase send you lotta love for this reaction, keep it up, i loved it! prettty obvious Thom's talking about death on 15 Step, literally like "one by one it comes to us all, it's as soft as your pillow", but also symbolically, especially in the form of execution for commiting a crime (like karma or self-punishment): the height of the gallows was 15 steps, and "then a sheer drop". maybe the consequences of your same repeated bad actions or decisions cause you to be punished (like a hanged man) and you end up wondering "How come I end up where I started?"
the artist Grandson (stylised in all lowercase) just released his new album called I Love You I'm Trying, and it's fucking phenomenal. His music is a mix of trap beats, Rock, EDM and just cold flow rap. the album addresses so much, Definitely take a listen man
My favorite band, and my tastes are everything (but country) - they have 9 albums, this is #7, they change up their style every time. The 3 'Big Ones' which appear on greatest lists all the time are, firstly what I and probably most consider their magnum opus if you will - 1997 "OK Computer" - more guitar driven but beginning to integrate all the new sounds emerging in the late 90s - it is a mind blowing album. "Kid A" is the most experimental and bold - a piece of art much as "Dark Side of the Moon" is, more than a std rock album - and "In Rainbows" to me is their best moment of pulling all of their sounds/skills/writing/production together into this near perfect just spot on musical master work. So those other 2 - yes, most definitely you should check them out. I get why people don't like Radiohead, many of there songs only hit on the 3rd or 30th listen, but they all eventually hit. So a band like that can be a challenge for many new listeners. You happened upon the one they did that is sooo good it is immediately just a bliss to the ears and soul. But as people are not fans, there are so many who are and a good reason they have such elite status - nobody does it like they do. Period. It was a very fun vid, thanks a lot man!
9 studio albums they have done and 7 of them are considered classics, they also have about 3 albums worth of b-sides, stand-alone singles and songs they just upload for free for their fans. For what its worth, at the moment my list would be ... #1 OK Computer, #2 Kid A, #3 In Rainbows, #4 A Moon Shaped Pool, #5 Hail To The Thief, #6 Amnesiac, #7 The Bends, #8 King of Limbs, #9 Pablo Honey. (the album with Creep on it, their debut album and their least popular)
@@bennshouts To the contrary, many would say In Rainbows is their best. A bit of a fan favourite, if you will. Ok Computer and Kid A were a lot more groundbreaking, but the emotional maturity and warmth of the songs on In Rainbows just keeps me and many others coming back. Anyway, it was nice seeing you resonate with such a stunning album, Ben. Keep up the good work.
Brilliant reaction as always! Fun fact (because I couldn't help myself) This is Conor Mason from Nothing but Thieves's favourite album of all time & influences a lot of their music. ☺

Kid A from them was chosen the Best album of the last 20 years and the Best of the actual Century. You should react to it, if you liked Björk you can listen it easier. The perfect combination between electronic and revolutionary music with rock. Kisses From México, You handsome.

@@UncleGwendolyn And rightly so. They all contribute to the music, songwriting credits are for the complete arrangement, usually listed on sheet music as "words & music".
Kid A from them was chosen the Best album of the last 20 years and the Best of the actual Century. You should react to it, if you liked Björk you can listen it easier. The perfect combination between electronic and revolutionary music with rock. Kisses From México, You handsome.
