I use the tree stake one with a wooden T Handle. Works great

Couldn’t you put a 2 inch piece of dollar store pool noodle under the bigger pool noodle to hold the large one in place? Might be simpler than a washer and cable tie.

I started using the hollow green tree stake but had difficulty getting it to really anchor my yak. It ended up snapping in two from having to really dig it in with great force. Ended up with the floating Yakgear pole and it has worked well. Hate to pay $50 for a simple pole but this is my main anchoring system. Thanks for another great video!

Yes, those being hollow inside makes for weakness.

I am going to buy some stock in a pool noodle company. They have 1001 uses, at least. Well done!

Your video is very timely. I made my stakeout pole today and was debating how to attach the pool noddle. I ended up buying a green tree stake because I couldn’t but a single fiberglass pole. None of the warehouse stores or nurseries in the Madison, Wisconsin area sells the fiberglass. I would have to buy a dozen or more because they only order them in bulk. Please let me know if you have any suggestions where I can buy a single fiberglass pole from a chain. Thanks again for the great video.

I'm stumped on the fiber. As I said in the video, I got mine from Leonard when they had free shipping. It would cost a fortune now. I just looked on Amazon and this was the closest I could find. Of course, I always wonder if you can trust the description... amzn.to/36IoE4A

@@KayakhacksFishing Thanks for the link. I did find these myself but I was trying for only one and one that was 3/4” diameter. I’ll keep looking. I’m going to be in Dubuque, Iowa on Friday so I will check with Lowe’s. I’ll let you know if I find a national retailer that carries one like yours. Thanks again for all of your help. I’m making some upgrades to my kayak right now based on your videos. You have a great channel. Keep them coming.

Tree stake won't hold our boat - current too strong and yak too much drag. I like the line idea better. Also thought about anchor trolley - clip it to the anchor trolley like you would the anchor to help control your boat direction

There is an issue with how to attach it to the trolley. I have made the mistake for years. I need to get that video done.

What about putting a layer of duck tape on the pole at each end of where the pool noodle will sit? Make the layers thick enough so that when you slide the noodle over the layers it will be snug enough to grip the pole

I’ll be putting heat shrink on this week, I’ve experienced the fiberglass in the hand one time to many!

Another alternative would be a wood closet rod, just sharpen one end.

Lowes and HD don't have those stakes these days. At least not in March

This is odd. Check this link. The description says fiberglass, metal, etc... but the pictures are all bamboo. www.lowes.com/search?searchTerm=orbit+tree+stake

I like that idea. I don't have an anchor trolly on my kayak. I have carried an anchor for a bit, but have never used it. I have been just drifting most of the time.

I use the YakGear 6' stakeout pole. Has worked great in the shallow water I've used it in. Could give a detailed description of my setup (onboard stowage/deployment/leash attachment w/floats/anchor trolley). A couple of videos at my never used YT channel at retnav1992.
