We are all so looking forward to seeing this movie in Trinidad in a few weeks' time! Trinidad and Tobago is the home of BWIA, the national airline Jennifer flew with as an 'Air Hostess' in the 1960s/70s. I'm busy getting this sent to the Inflight Crew members who worked with her back then-for there are quite a few- and many of our Miss World and Miss Universe Contestants will be invited to attend as well. Most of these ladies, like Jennifer, went on to make valuable contributions. While our theatres will be restricted by social distancing I'm sure the turnout will be successful-what a treat during these COVID times!
Your interview was lovely and your questions were great. I love Jennifer. She was able to strike a balance between being a beauty queen and a feminist. She received me in her home when she lived in Canada and was a warm and thoughtful host. She is always going to be a beautiful human being and a wonderful mother. ❤️
Lovely. I enjoyed this. However, while I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and appreciated the relevance to our times, I think a great opportunity was missed from the film-making perspective. Naturally, the focus centered on the event itself and the controversy. However, having read Jennifer's well written book (the second half is quite compelling), clearly a sequel is justified. That could focus on Jennifer and her accomplishments following the Miss World contest, to demonstrate that despite the challenge of skin colour, there is the bright light of success that can be achieved.
Great interview
