It is a bit of a judgement call if it is in the way then obviously it needs to come out especially as it's not that easy to stick all the wiring elsewhere. I left the five Genisys modules in my Sprinter purely as a Novelty but it is powered off via an isolater & does nothing at all when the vehicle is turned off and parked. Everything is wired separately except the Climate control power which is only usable when the engine is running and the step and door switches which are still monitored by Genisys for safety.
Lovely videos. Have purchased an ex-ambulance. Have many questions but one in general is driving me mad: supposed the rear internal lights, heater and the aircon are being supplied with power from the aux batteries. Is there a cut-off switch for the aux batteries or everything is being controlled by the Genisys system (control panels were removed). Trying to see if I should rewire it or if there is another easier way to start everything up. Thank you
Best to bypass anything needed regularly because Genisys is annoying and can be.power hungry so best isolated when the engine is not running. Hi Keith. Is this your new business new business?😉 you're treating it as if it were your own lol. There must be a good few thousands of pounds work so far! Did you give the owner a quote or are they paying day rate ?
I have worked on interesting vehicles for years let’s just say I took this on because I was curious to see if this was put together in a way that meant it did not need gutting!
Thanks for uploading these, just got a similar vehicle and it's good to get an idea for the proper processes :)
