TravelCenters of America and Petro Stopping Centers Hey TA you broke my his truck YOU BROKE IT, he trusted TA to fix his truck and TA costed him more money than the repairs. Was this resolved? If so how ?
TravelCenters of America and Petro Stopping Centers BTW it’s funny how he was screwed until he made a video about it and TA spoke up to hen they seen the number of subs and views he has !!!
They changed my oil one time and had to have me watch him torque the oil drain plug. But, I have a quick drain 3” from the drain bolt. Before I left, they had to take the plug out and replace the washer and refill it at their expense. 2 weeks ago I had some brake work done. The tech told me to release all my brakes so he could check for leaks, then said Togo sign my work sheet, it was done. While I was in the front office, I looked out the window, and my truck was rolling backwards down the driveway. It ended up jackknifing and crushing the headache rack. I am in the middle of dealing with them to replace it now.
Bryan I can't believe that a $10 dollar part and they trying to over charge you when I get back on the road I'm not stopping at no ta for nothing no fuel and no mechanic repair no tires thank you for sharing
Oh man I'm sorry you found out the hard way. Truck stops is the last place I'd go for mechanic work. What I do if something goes wrong I go online and search local mechanic shops and so far I've been well taken care of at the ones I've had to use. Truck stops are jus a waste of everything, time, money, not to mention the level of anger you leave with.
I know why the bill is so high,,, In the repair field, more or less parts are cheap but labor will kill ya. You said the kid had to drive to second closest dealership for the speed sensor bracket,,, Well that employee can't show lost time for driving to whatever city and get the part and bring it back,,, I'm betting they are asking for a labor rate for running to get the part plus mileage on the company truck. Yeah that can be billed ,,,,IF the tech didn't break the part if the first place from lack of training. Nether hear or there cause I see the TA contacted you,,, Happy to see the problem fixed (I hope)
Damn that sucks major balls, seems mechanics are the same all over the world. And we we don't even have truckstop repair shop's over here in Belgium. The company shop or the dealership are the only options we got. Stay warm and safe man
My truck only go's to Freightliner dealerships / shops only if it needs technical work done everything else I do only way for sure I know it's done and done right I wouldn't trust a truck stop to put air on my tires let alone take wrenches to my truck
I hate the TA. They towed my truck. I had parked for the weekend and I checked my spot and there was no identification on the spot saying it was a reserved spot. Came back 3 days and no truck. They had painted the word reserved on the spot but it had been so long that it was no longer visible. On top of that before leaving the truck I had a employee verify that I was parked in a free parking spot.
F ck TA, I'm over there incompetence. This is stems from the apprenticeship program being ditched. These are not tradesmen they are just Tech's being charged out as tradesmen. Shame on you TA, but its the norm now to put profits ahead of good honest service
You should've hung up on the manager when you said you're gonna call TA corporate office. Remember the manager was terrified of you calling corporate,I bet if you'd actually hung up that manager would've called back within a few minutes with a much lower bill!
when ever you get work done at ta they present you with work order which you sign....make sure you also get a estimate and sign it...this prevents any additional charges and keeps them resposible for keeping you in the loop of repairs...otherwise if this isnt done each shift or mechnanic will have a differant story just like you got...trust me i was a level 3 service advisor for t/a for 5 years and ive seen some crazy shit and outragous charges along with it
Hi, I'm looking into the idea of switching from doing tanker work to doing step deck. What is worrying me is that I haven't done any open deck work in a few decades. Do you think a guy with a new authority and old experience will be able to make it, doing the spot market?
I had a bolt over torqued by the boss shop. Cost me almost 3,000. They refused to take responsibility. Since you can prove bolt over torquing it’s just a loss. Shops suck.
$787-660... 127 dollars for a $8.90 bracket. Mark up of $118.10 that's more than triple. It's a plague and must be stopped! Thanks for your video and taking a stand.
I never understood how bad these places screw drivers and companies over until I worked in breakdown and had to decide if repair cost was authorizable or if they were tryin to scam us. It's sad really bc without trucks they wouldnt have a business
Your first mistake take your time.Never tell someone you got time.I feel for you brother.Great story.Peterbilt is the only place that works on my truck.I enjoy your channel brother.
TA broke the hub on my dads trailer, the bright mechanic thought that one of the lug nuts was loose so he decided to take it out and put a new one in, well he put a bigger one in and hit it with a hammer and cracked the entire hub, and guess what. They didn’t pay for it because they claimed that they didn’t crack the hub. So moral of the story, never get any work done at truck stops because this is a common thing.
TA Truck stops has always been shady. I would rather take my truck to a dealer and pay more than to have a 3rd rate mechanic work on one of my trucks. And I never have them do a oil change.
Get a service contract with some Nationwide road service And if it's too expensive for individuals get a bunch of owner-operators to go together as a group to join and create a contract
Lots of videos being made lately about truck stops abusing us owner ops as well as brokers paying ridiculously low and I think it’s great. Maybe it’s the beginning of something to get us back on the right track
I stop at TA shop in Raphine,Va. Next to whites travel Had my oil change, for some reason they did not tighten the oil plug. I stop at over 4 TA shops across north east. 1st one, they tighten the plug. 100 miles later still leaking 2nd one claim I needed a new oil pan, last person screwed up my plug by over tighten 3rd one just look at it, what can I do, its leaking 4th one claim I have oil leak from the engine block Hello, it's all dry upstairs . Had to show him in person. Where Mechanic?????? " let me try something real quick" Finally got the oil to stop leaking. The manger was not happy that I stop at over 4 shops . Of course the manager had to pay out . He was trying to talk me down to " never never never come back again sir" Cant help it if Joe in Virginia scerw up. You have to honor the Warranty.
I have been running my own repair shop over 20 years. And when something like that happens in my shop with my guys. I take care of the Bill in full. You will make more in the long run. And through a Free oil change in next time. Sorry that happened to you gives every repair shop a bad name have a blessed day Mr Brian
I know I'm going to get heat about this don't ever take your truck to a truck stop service center because it is a 300%up charge for all parts it's better if your able to get in to a dealer because in the long run they are cheaper than a service center . Yes i bet people out there are going to say i don't know what I am talking about but i have 12 trucks of my own and if i don't work on them at my shop they go to a dealer to get work on .p.s i hope you get all work out but they are going to try to make you pay for the 3 hours they had to run to pick up the part just beware of that
I definitely try and buy the parts prior if I’m using a service center but you’re right, I try to use the dealerships or I have a shop for big work. I prefer to do the work myself but my skills are limited.
WOW. Got bless you man. I hope those crooks will have some sense of hones business practice eventually. That was a very valuable review of TA service, thank you for uploading video like this, now I know how to talk to them and what to expect from TA. WOW.
Wow, excellent video and very informative. Amazing! I will say that Schneider Operating Centers have been very professional working on my truck. I have felt the pain on the road and its amazing how poor the conditions are out here and I wish there was a solution. Take care and good luck!
I Feel your pain and Frustration! Had a shiity mechanic not from the TA this time but Longhorn truck service last week in Bolton Mississippi ! Broke more than he Fixed an was down a total of 4 days 🤬
That manger needs some training. It’s fair for you to pay for replacing the speed sensor, but once they broke the bracket they lost their right to make a profit. At that point they just need to make it right and make sure the customer is happy.
The bracket braking is nothing new. Steel sensor in a aluminum bracket is a no go. Only way to get that sucker out with out braking the bracket is to pull the bracket and drill the old sensor out or pull the hub off and drill it that way.
Ohh for sure. The second the tech saw the corrosion the pry bar was the wrong tool.. some times you can get away with the prybar but it is rare. I was a tech for 12 years before I became a owner operator and I’ve seen it happen many a times. You got the short end of the stick on this one
Tell them your calling a lawyer it sounds like theyre very unorganized and will probably come around for ya. I worked at a GM dealer as parts manager for years and techs broke stuff all the time and we would pay for it every time customer is the life blood keep it clean. The worst part is when id sell parts to small shops its way discounted and theyd sell them for like double the list price so they usually triple or quadruple their cost on parts.
I appreciate you stopping in Char, if I have to go there I will but it’d cost more than I’d get back. It may be worth it to prove a point though. We’ll see, the pricing is crazy at places like these. I normally buy the parts and take them with me like I did with the sensors.
Dam 8 dollar item wow. How petty they are. One time I was watching a mechanic use a pry bar to adjust my clutch lol. I put a stop to that and demanded someone else who knew what they where doing lol one reason why I do most of my own stuff. Unfortunately you have to watch them. I always get my own ... ta wanted 125 dollars per shock for my front end and dealership wanted 62 dollars per shock. Well stay warm and be safe. Have a blessed day
They'll never get any more hourly business from me. I can tell you that. I been through the same thing with their cheesy technicians. Who dont even fix stuff right. Then over charge drivers. Yes TA you bastards overcharge and you know it.
My question to you is why didn't you just have J-pro hooked up to find out what Sensor was really bad? You can get the ECM plug for about $650 and use a laptop to pull the codes. Don't just throw parts at it lol
@@DrivenTrucking it should say what wheel is triggering the fault or what is causing the fault. Loves will normally hook up for free with J pro and give a print out.
I’m not sure why it didn’t work but the first time it said it was the valve so that was replaced, second time was the passenger front so that was replaced. The sensor was so badly corroded I thought to heck with it, I’m just going to prevent it from happening again. After I replace the front two, if it comes on again, it must be the wiring (which I also had checked at a different juncture). If it keeps happening after that, I’ll probably get rid of the truck because that’ll mean electrical issues and those are like chasing ghosts.
I gave up on TA a long time ago almost every time it seems like I have to fix it again. Im in Dallas TX needed a ujoint the front one. They changed it truck shook like hell crawled under had a look driveshaft was out of time! Went back showed them they said they would fix it real quick four hours later its done EXCEPT now it has a new carrier bearing no one told me that they changed the carrier bearing. So I figure whatever probably needed one so I paid extra for that. Drove about 500 or so miles the new carrier bearing came apart they said they would fix it they came out to the road call were I was stuck the guy was a idiot would not let him touch the truck. I got it towed to a local small truck repair shop they fixed it a new u joint and a new carrier bearing and they found the bolts were loose at the rear u joint as well! Took me 5 months to get my money back also BEWARE of their oil changes always make sure they use the right filters and that they are tight when they replace them twice in a row after my oil changes at TA my dam filters were loose spraying oil everywhere. Bought 8 new drive tires at TA once while loaded they looked low checked the pressure on them varied from 75 to 85 psi WTF! Now they are closing their restaurants all over the place and added a lot more paid parking from coast to coast not to mention their high prices on everything they have. The final straw was needed 4 7/16 nuts and bolts and washers for a mudflap on the trailer was expecting to pay more you know its a truck stop right? How does $46.32 grab ya! Told them to shove it took a uber to Lowes get it all and more for $2.46. Price gouging at its best yeah I spent extra money for the uber ride and felt dam good about it TA can go to hell.
A lawyer might be necssary, sometimes a threat of hiring a lawyer will get a quick resolution. Starting back in the 1960s and 70s truck stop shops were crooks. Pull toy here.
One time they broke my S cam trying to lift the axle to fix a flat tire... guess what, they let me out the door without telling me about my slack adjuster and S cam hanging. (Petro in Santa Nella) 152 and 33
What ever you do, don’t blow a steer tire. 4 hours to finally show up. Can’t jack the truck up, says he brought the wrong jack. Then changes his story......”your front axle is bent, that’s why I can’t jack it up”....”you’re going to need to be towed to a dealership, here’s the number to a tow company”......$900 tow (20 miles) dealership opens on Monday. Contact dealer explain the situation. They inspect the front end.... verdict....”YOU NEED A STEER TIRE”...what? Nothing is wrong with the truck other than the blown tire. Of course dealerships don’t do tires. In the end T/A covered the tow and their (lack of) service call. Took a week of hounding them.

What he did was pull out the wheel chocks after I walked away.
Thanks for sharing that experience. I enjoyed hearing all the details and how you handled everything.
Bryan I can't believe that a $10 dollar part and they trying to over charge you when I get back on the road I'm not stopping at no ta for nothing no fuel and no mechanic repair no tires thank you for sharing
When you start watching the video and the first shots are him driving in my hometown! Good old Knoxville!
I wouldn’t let TA fix shit on my truck.
Smith an Wesson makes anzi z 81 approved eye wear too 11 12 bux really nice
A bunch of crooks my goodness recouping 8 dallars they r insane
If you really want a great pair of sun/ safety glasses, I suggest oakley you can get replacement lenses for a good price.
It’s not only truck stops but truck dealers as well. This is a case of not having a relationship with a mechanic that you trust.
I use Wiley X's, not cheap, but they are blast rated and use to be available at Cabela's
45 degrees is not warm at all especially if u don't have a apu or bunk heater
Nice video! Love it!

I had similar issue with TA in California they broke my diesel fuel filter bracket and blame me the driver not the incompetent mechanic and management
Fuck TA. Sorry to hear this brother
Appreciate it, I’ll get it resolved. I hated doing this video but it needed to be done
Wow!!!!! I’ve would if flip-out.
I know why the bill is so high,,, In the repair field, more or less parts are cheap but labor will kill ya.

You stated your case very well to your viewers. Keep us posted.
Thank you John, will do 👍🏻
Damn that sucks major balls, seems mechanics are the same all over the world. And we we don't even have truckstop repair shop's over here in Belgium. The company shop or the dealership are the only options we got. Stay warm and safe man
Wow, yea it’s hard to find the good ones but when you do, don’t let them go! Thanks for watching Johny!
Knoxville TN. Next time your on Lovel rd or West Knox let me know I'll buy you a drink. 2 blocks from my house
Sounds good
I tell you what, I've seen tons of vehicles worked on by a shop or dealership even and 90% of the time the work is sloppy. It's truly amazing.
Im in truck school now at a technical college. thanks for the vids man. trying to get as much info about the industry before my feet hit the ground...
Easy fix TA just need to deduct the expenses from the mechanic check that messed up
Your nice about it not me I. Kick ass believe me
Im glad to see you stand up.. dont take no 💩
I know that’s right 👊🏻
My truck only go's to Freightliner dealerships / shops only if it needs technical work done everything else I do only way for sure I know it's done and done right I wouldn't trust a truck stop to put air on my tires let alone take wrenches to my truck
That's so cute, you called him a mechanic.
Lol
These truckstops don’t understand their customer base.
Agreed
That is why I work on my own truck.
Never repair your truck at SAPP, TA, PETRO
You should've hung up on the manager when you said you're gonna call TA corporate office. Remember the manager was terrified of you calling corporate,I bet if you'd actually hung up that manager would've called back within a few minutes with a much lower bill!
January was very good to me hope your goes well. Good luck with ta
That’s great Mike! It’s going much better than last year lol
Yea I'm sure you could win at least 5k in small claims court which is the limit in most states, for lost wages, js...
when ever you get work done at ta they present you with work order which you sign....make sure you also get a estimate and sign it...this prevents any additional charges and keeps them resposible for keeping you in the loop of repairs...otherwise if this isnt done each shift or mechnanic will have a differant story just like you got...trust me i was a level 3 service advisor for t/a for 5 years and ive seen some crazy shit and outragous charges along with it
Hi,
I'm looking into the idea of switching from doing tanker work to doing step deck. What is worrying me is that I haven't done any open deck work in a few decades. Do you think a guy with a new authority and old experience will be able to make it, doing the spot market?
Nice T660. Sorry this happened to you. We'll be watching. :D
Thank you so much, that’s greatly appreciated. I’ll have the resolution out this coming week
I had a bolt over torqued by the boss shop. Cost me almost 3,000. They refused to take responsibility. Since you can prove bolt over torquing it’s just a loss. Shops suck.
Dang it, sorry to hear that
I agree Brandon, thanks for stopping by 👍🏻
Sounds like TA stands for Take Advantage :)
Your first mistake take your time.Never tell someone you got time.I feel for you brother.Great story.Peterbilt is the only place that works on my truck.I enjoy your channel brother.
Yeah that's the real reason they won't allow ya in the shop. They don't want you to see them break your shit. That's the real liability reason.
Lmao
TA broke the hub on my dads trailer, the bright mechanic thought that one of the lug nuts was loose so he decided to take it out and put a new one in, well he put a bigger one in and hit it with a hammer and cracked the entire hub, and guess what. They didn’t pay for it because they claimed that they didn’t crack the hub. So moral of the story, never get any work done at truck stops because this is a common thing.
Wow, sorry to hear that.
Did they ever make things right?
Call the corporate office and Sue them
What ended up being the resolution to this?
Sometimes you dont have a choice when you break down and all you see is TA and nothing else for 100 a miles
Tis true
TA Truck stops has always been shady. I would rather take my truck to a dealer and pay more than to have a 3rd rate mechanic work on one of my trucks. And I never have them do a oil change.
The ABS part didn't cost them 8 dollars and some change , they probably get a discount so I'm guessing 6 bucks .
Sounds like LAWYER TIME!
Im with u on this 1
Get a service contract with some Nationwide road service
And if it's too expensive for individuals get a bunch of owner-operators to go together as a group to join and create a contract
These days hard to find the people with Integrity. They think short term gain is better than long term business... Never do business with TA.
Loves did the same exact thing to my truck. What a nightmare. Guy took a pry bar to it and broke it 🤷🏻♂️
I wrote on there Facebook page with a link of your video 👍👍👍
You the man 👍🏻👊🏻
abs sensor not a speed sensor
That’s what I was calling it until Kenworth corrected me
Lots of videos being made lately about truck stops abusing us owner ops as well as brokers paying ridiculously low and I think it’s great. Maybe it’s the beginning of something to get us back on the right track
I truly hope so
So sorry
looks like an abs sensor not speed sensor
They are one and the same
I stop at TA shop in Raphine,Va. Next to whites travel
Had my oil change, for some reason they did not tighten the oil plug. I stop at over 4 TA shops across north east.
1st one, they tighten the plug. 100 miles later still leaking

3rd one just look at it, what can I do, its leaking
4th one claim I have oil leak from the engine block Hello, it's all dry upstairs . Had to show him in person. Where Mechanic??????
" let me try something real quick"
Finally got the oil to stop leaking.
The manger was not happy that I stop at over 4 shops . Of course the manager had to pay out . He was trying to talk me down to " never never never come back again sir"
Cant help it if Joe in Virginia scerw up. You have to honor the Warranty.
Wow that’s a nightmare, Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hopefully something like that never happens again
I think everyone been there at some point before, u learn it and hope doesn't happen again, be safe brother
You’re probably right, you too brother
I have been running my own repair shop over 20 years. And when something like that happens in my shop with my guys. I take care of the Bill in full. You will make more in the long run. And through a Free oil change in next time. Sorry that happened to you gives every repair shop a bad name have a blessed day Mr Brian
Thank you so much for stopping in and sharing. I know there are great shops out there. Where is your shop located?
Lost a full day on getting a spare tire put on(8 hours) to get home at the Toledo, Ohio TA. My company had to pay late pay on the load
I know I'm going to get heat about this don't ever take your truck to a truck stop service center because it is a 300%up charge for all parts it's better if your able to get in to a dealer because in the long run they are cheaper than a service center . I feel you bro I’m broke down right now
Aww damn it man, sorry to hear that
Sorry you had to go through that driver I’ll watch out for TA’s...definitely informative for Owner Operators...be safe....way to keep your cool.
Thank you very much, stay safe as well
Sorry brother.....but stand your ground.
Amen to that brother
WOW. Got bless you man. I hope those crooks will have some sense of hones business practice eventually.
That was a very valuable review of TA service, thank you for uploading video like this, now I know how to talk to them and what to expect from TA.
WOW.
Thank you so much and I appreciate you watching
Be glad you didn't need a tow, that's where the real thieves are, stand your ground, piss on ta.
I know that’s right
Man I it's been a while but man I am sorry for you man stand your ground
No worries D, it will work itself out.
Wow, excellent video and very informative. Amazing! I will say that Schneider Operating Centers have been very professional working on my truck. I have felt the pain on the road and its amazing how poor the conditions are out here and I wish there was a solution. Take care and good luck!
Thank you so much, glad to hear Schneider is taking good care of you 👍🏻
Like the music!!!! Turn it up!

I Feel your pain and Frustration! Had a shiity mechanic not from the TA this time but Longhorn truck service last week in Bolton Mississippi ! Broke more than he Fixed an was down a total of 4 days 🤬
Dang it! It can be difficult to find good help unfortunately
Bro you need to start getting people name's so they can hold those people responsible.
That manger needs some training. It’s fair for you to pay for replacing the speed sensor, but once they broke the bracket they lost their right to make a profit. At that point they just need to make it right and make sure the customer is happy.
I agree and I’m a very reasonable person, I wasn’t expecting the whole bill or even half, just wanted it made right.
You at the TA in Toledo
It was in Battle Creek Michigan, I’m in Knoxville about to get loaded at the moment
Fcuking Yankees
Jason Helms 🤷🏻♂️ when they come south they're like everyone's so nice here. Well that should've told ya something about yall's selves 🤦🏻♂️
The bracket braking is nothing new. Steel sensor in a aluminum bracket is a no go. Only way to get that sucker out with out braking the bracket is to pull the bracket and drill the old sensor out or pull the hub off and drill it that way.

Yea it sucks, but it is what it is.
Flying j broke mine about two months ago and still haven't got a response back from them also
Sorry to hear that
Brian Phillips yea they broke my water pump housing taking the water pump off and it's still leaking to this day

I had a couple bad experiences at T/A, stripped out my wheel studs, of course they denied it

After this experience you’ll need to change your name from “driven trucking” to “driven mad” . Good luck hope TA does the right thing👍
I know that’s right Cary 😂😂👍🏻 so do I.
They'll never get any more hourly business from me. I can tell you that. I been through the same thing with their cheesy technicians. Who dont even fix stuff right. Then over charge drivers. Yes TA you bastards overcharge and you know it.
Same here, only if it’s absolutely the last option
My question to you is why didn't you just have J-pro hooked up to find out what Sensor was really bad? You can get the ECM plug for about $650 and use a laptop to pull the codes. Don't just throw parts at it lol
Because it’s been hooked up twice and both times didn’t correct the issue
Yea it’s a shame. Thanks pull toy 👍🏻
Your not getting any lawyer for that small amount of damages to take the case
Flatbed and I almost always use all of my 70-hour clock.
Wouldn't let T. A. Drive my wheelbarrow let alone work on my truck
My glasses I get from the VA are polycarbonate and transitions and antiglare .... 👍🏻
Nice
👍😎👍
I hate TA. It sounds like he was trying to charge you for the 3 hours of drive time to get the part. Good luck brother
Thanks brother, I’m not gonna let this one slide.
Take horrible should be investigated by the feds
They just keep giving dont they
Sure do don’t they
Should not have taken a video to have TA to contact you, your bill should have been ZERO !!!!
Truck stops shops are a joke first rule of trucking they had a hard time replacing a belt on my reefer 6 months ago
Wow, lol yea no kidding
Hey your in my ktown I live just east of there lol good old papermill rd ALWAYS wrecks every morning there
One time they broke my S cam trying to lift the axle to fix a flat tire... guess what, they let me out the door without telling me about my slack adjuster and S cam hanging. (Petro in Santa Nella) 152 and 33
YIKES
Great
I can hear you this time
What ever you do, don’t blow a steer tire.
Yikes, that’s awful
