So true and the truth hurts, This man is telling the truth in all honesty you don't need a knife with all the bells and whistles in the end it just needs to cut. spent 20 years in the Army and what did I use my high end knife for cutting 550 cord and opening MRE's dang I should have just bought a Mora knife.
I've been using Dexter Russell/Green River knives for years. Excellent for game processing and light camp duty. Excellent design for Bark River to adopt.
Back in the '80's CVA made a "patch knife" kit. It was pretty much the same as the 5 inch here. As kids my brother and I would get some kind of CVA kit for Christmas every year. Good times.
Such a simple yet functional and classic design. Thanks for the Green River hunter/butcher. blade history and repros. YES ... got tired of watching 5yr old+ KSF videos (good to see you).
I like the 8" . Your knives are very similar to the Hudson Bay camp knives, traded all over Canada and northeast USA. Brought in by the British. As is your knife the do all. Slicing meat and onions to fighting. As is yours, a handy tough knife. It's nice to see quality knives being built and used.
I honestly think that Bark River is Americas number one knife company. Great designs from many designers, great steels used, steady production (no five year wait times), fantastic value, great customer support and social media presence, etc.
What are the prices for these? Are they affordable enough to buy a few and have one in the kitchen, one in the hunting box, one in the shed, etc.? If they're high end, is there any plans to use a lesser cost serviceable steel, like 1095 ? Looks good. That pattern hasn't been around for so many years for no reason. It worked back then and still works great now. Glad to see they're not the usual 2-3 inch knives like so many sell. Professional meat cutters don't use itty bitty knives. Thanks for the video
I saw the 5" at Knivesshipfree, and they start at $204, go up depending on handle material. All of them are CPM 3V. I have one, from a number of years ago, in 52100, with ironwood handle. It's been a great knife.
*It looks like a cross between Kephart and Tanto (or Old Hickory)🙂Unfortunately, in Germany, blades longer than 12 cm are strictly restricted by law 😞*
Or you cod not support a company known for stealing ideas.. And just buy an Old Hickory butcher knife ... And he literally admitted it ... Sincerely from someone who recommended the modifications on the Bravo a decade ago and lo and behold, after being told I don't know what I'm talking about by Mike him self! They produced the very knife I recommended... Bark river /Mike hasn't had an idea in decades...
GREAT to see you on film again, Mike!!

Its why i have a mora and a cold steel finn hawk. Just good cheap blades meant to cut most things.
Mike is the man!! Love that DLT is filming this!!! Keep em coming!
Beautiful knives. Look exactly like small versions of the mountain bolo I roll with. 🇺🇸✊
I have a larger version of the second knife. It was a friend's grandfather's ww2 kitchen knife. He was a navy chef. It is stamped with a swiss logo
Great video. I'd love to see these sorts of videos become the norm again!

Yes ! Will gettimg a couple of these Moutain man 8s
LOL well I know what knife I’m gonna be getting my hands on doing review video!!!!!!!
Great to see these videos again
So basically a classic kitchen knife
This is my knife! I love it!!
I have to admit; this entire series (five knives?) is very attractive for me!
That is one good looking no nonsense knife.
Mountain man theory/history is fascinating. I agree about blade thickness, thin knives work the best.
These are my most favorite style of knives and always have been, They
Are like the ontario steel, Old Hickery

They still make them like that in Sheffield, I know because I have recently ordered a blade for which I will make my own handle and sheath.
Tell it Mike !!!!!!!!!!
ALL THE WAY ‼️ Mike 🇺🇸
You should do the Heters Bull Cook Knife which is just under 4 inches.

Whats the other 3 traditional mountain man knives mentioned(you said there was 5 total)

I’m sure when the mountain man could get a knife with a finger guard he was pretty stoked.
Very cool! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
I definitely found them in my grandma's drawer. Nor for 200 dollars though! Frick
What is the thickness of the blade in mm ?
2.5 mm and he said some as low as 2mm. Mora has Allround models in this sizes.
Mine is a chinese boning knife I paid two dollars.
Yep, that's the knife that won the West.
I prefer a thicker blade, most I have come across the blade is to thin, makes the knife whimpy
Ooh, people still buy Crack River knives! I hope there are no scary chopsticks around…
Man, I hope they cost at least five hundred dollars ✌🏻
Make their fish knife and im in.
I bought a 1095 Green River / Dexter Fish Knife about a year ago. Less than $30. Thing is amazing.
That 8” knife is too big for me. I like the 5” better but like and even small blade more.
need more elk or bone to be made?!?!

If!!! You go on the all meat diet , all cancer diabetes and lung problems will leave .. my gift to you. I'm at greenhill bt rd nt. Tenn. Your welcome.
It is a butchers knife!!!
Nothing new under the sun...
