I remember prime empire being my comeback season after never finishing season 11 by the time it was in the ice chapter, so when I got into prime empire I loved it so much and considered it my favorite season. Nowadays it’s definitely a mid-tier season but not terrible, just incredibly bland and forgettable. Now it’s time to do Ninjago seasons that aged well.
aged badly the most is probably s2, cuz i thought that was peak media back then, but now it's barely around a top 10 season. the season that aged best imo is skybound. it was the worst season for me when it came out for me, now it's in my top 5.
Season 2 is mixed now. But my nostalgia for it keeps me coming back everytime. Season 1 tho is both nostalgic and has held up really well. Best team season ever I’d say
I'd argue Rebooted has aged better. The season has been critisized by Ninjago fans for quite a while, but there's just something nostalgic about these older seasons that makes them fun and charming to watch. Rebooted also had pretty good humor - I didn't find it too serious. I'd say the golden age of Ninjago was Seasons 3-6 (Rebooted to Skybound) - they had the perfect balance of humor, drama, and good stories. And the seasons tied in well to one another. The Oni Trilogy was another golden age, and the third great run consisted of Master of the Mountain and Seabound. Now, we're on to the fourth phase of awesome Ninjago seasons, specifically Dragons Rising. I've enjoyed it so much, and the writing is a huge step up from what we've seen.
One Trilogy had weaker writing. The story was dark and dramatic but some of the jokes didn’t Land. Jay especially. He went from being hyperactive witty wisecracker who overreacts to the generic childish joker.

Kai became very hot-headed, Jay became very silly and stupid, and Zane just became a walking computer whose only characteristic was talking using technical terms and not having any focus. Nya also became a lot more hot-headed. But the writing was decent, Lloyd and Cole became better, and Garmadon's resurrection was handled a lot better than I expected.
Honestly I still love Crystalized part 1 no matter how bad part 2 may be. Just makes me really sad knowing that it didn't have a satisfying conclusion when they had everything set out for them for it to be perfect

I honestly feel like Season 2 aged the worst. The animation is poor, the final battle is underwhelming, and Garmadon is a chump. Garmadon’s “redemption” is also way too fast. Not to mention the “Final Battle” is literally just Lloyd flying around with the Overlord, getting eaten, and then The Overlord dies for like ten seconds before he comes back in the very next episode. It’s honestly my second least favorite season, the only one I dislike more is Hands of Time.
Personally, I don’t think S2 and S3 aged poorly. I just rewatched the older Ninjago seasons not to long ago, and I gotta say I had a great time with it. The first half is some fun creative filler, while the second half with the stone army is just better and amazing. And I thought Rebooted was good, but definitely not the best season ever. S12 on the other hand, oh yeah. Prime Empire and Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu aged like milk. S11 was the Season that got me back into Ninjago after not watching it for over a year because of the Oni Trilogy. In January of 2021 I watched S11, S12, and S13 back to back, and when I first saw them, I thought they were all the best seasons of the show, of course that didn’t last to long.
The only one I would agree with would be Season 2 as rewatching it, the final battle story is pretty simple and fights are basic too (yes I am aware it’s old animation) also Crystalized was amazing, it’s the 11 minute format that ruins it At least they went back to 22 minutes in Dragons Rising
The thing that didn't age well is rebooted being considered a Zane season, back then I can see why people viewed rebooted as a Zane season but after we got skybound with it being a Jay story, sons of garmadon being a Lloyd story, master of the mountain being a cole story, seabound being a nya story, you realize that rebooted isn't really a Zane season, it's very much a team season I mean sure Zane played a major role in rebooted but so does Lloyd so does the love tringle between nya Jay and Cole, even kai got his own mission in the codename Arcturus episode, in rebooted Zane only got a girlfriend and had some moments between here and there, compare that to Jay in skybound wich is clearly a Jay story or sons of garmadon wich is clearly a Lloyd story or master of the mountain wich is clearly a cole story or seabound wich is clearly a nya story but can you really call rebooted a Zane story you really can't cause he is clearly not the focus of that season, it's not like we were following Zane's journey in rebooted so yeh rebooted isn't a Zane season cause Zane in rebooted had the same amount of focus as kai in tournament of elements and many people agree that tournament of elements isn't a kai season so same thing should be applied to rebooted it should also not be considered as a Zane season it's very much a team season
While it is a hot take there’s certainly a lot of truth to that. Classic Ninjago had more highs than Modern Ninjago. The writing, humor, worldbuilding, and story all were better. Kai and Jay got dumbed down, Zane is boring now, Lloyd is over saturated, Nya is annoying, Cole is still good but I miss his tougher no nonsense personality from the early seasons.
