It was easier for the women (If you don’t count the black girl groups: Supremes etc) until Janet showed up. She changed the code. All the other women continued it, and it crossed over to white artist (Britany etc). But now, new artist rarely dance and some of them can’t sing due to auto-tune. You find a lot more music companies going for “the look” instead of talent.
A lot of artist are today’s version of Mili Vanili, but with auto-tune instead stealing someone else’s vocals. Even Jennifer Lopez enhanced her vocals by using other people’s vocals for parts of her songs, but she did sing and dance. Now they auto-tune and lip sync for performances.
