There is no way to checkmate one of them (neither Magnus nor Aronian). So what Magnus did was just to do a Threefold move. That's how hard to beat each Grand Master when it comes to endgame. But if Magnus is playing against an Amateur, surely, Magnus can win there within 50 seconds.
Materially they were equal but at the end we saw a draw at the most.

Can someone tell me why the chronometer going down with few secs and after a move jump off above the last stop? Carlsen with only 14 secs on the clock, made a move and right after that, gain secs, getting 23 secs? Also his contender, same thing? Why is that happens? never saw this before. PS: Just for anyone that wants to observe what am talking, pen atention on Carlsen when he starts to move under a minute frame time.
IMO that leads to a check by the queen on f7 and from there he loses his control of the match with the rooks defending each other and no longer supported by that pawn
Three exclamation marks? No - It happens quite often. I must remember to think it's wildly exciting next time it happens to me :-). I see where you're coming from. But you're not competing in that big a market. It's click bait you'll recognise in time that you don't need. Thanks for making the effort.
I have a question. Why do the clocks add seconds on? I have seen this repeatedly while watching videos. I would understand it as a bonus if you completed so many moves in so many seconds, but this doesn’t seem to be the case. Isn’t the idea of speed chess to force moves quickly or run out of time and lose?
I see this comment was a year ago. There's this thing you can add to the time control called increment which adds a specific amount of time each move but sometimes there is no increment.
I keep hearing this, but the game isn't over. I always see chess players just get up and leave the game, admitting defeat, and there'll still be 20 pieces on the board and time on the clock. Why don't they try to at least win? How do they know Magnus won't make a mistake? Doesn't make sense to me.
Made of Legos Well, in this game Magnus had the black pieces, and normally the black guy just fight for a draw, for there exists a big advantage on the white side: the iniciative (this makes the winning for black ones very difficult). Therefore drawing was a pretty good result for Magnus. And the other guy had probably just accepted the draw because he was afraid of losting the game (this is understandable since he was playing against Magnus Carlsen) You are right about other games that end too early. The explanation lies in the emotional point: man, when you lost a Queen or do a ridiculous movement, you lost all the hope of winning and all the willing of playing the game.
When are players allowed to call a "Draw"? Or is it just a unspoken rule among chess players? Can I move my pond 1 space up and declare a "draw"? Or does it have to be accepted by the other opponent? It seems to me, players can just call a "draw" when they're scared of losing. ALSO, how is it decided who is white or black? (sorry, I don't know any of the rules)
Made of Legos I'm a starter too. There are some occasions that are considered a draw (this is part of the chess rules). Some of them are: when there is a certain number of repeated movements (I forgot the exact quantity of them now, but it seems to me that are three movements), when the lasting king of any side can not move (It happens when all the squares that he could go to are being attacked and the square that he is in the moment isn't), or when both sides just have the king as their only piece lasting. Players can ask a draw at any time, but it has to be an agreement between them. I don't know how the colors are decided too
I have only seen a few on you-tube, but I have never seen a magnum game where the game ended with the king going down. Every ending has been a disappointment to me.
I know there is incremental time in some games, but Carlson was getting almost 10 second incremental time adds when he moved fast. Why is this? See around 11:30.
Recently I have been watching chess videos as I got interest in it. In some games I see a wire connected to the board. I have no idea about it and what its purpose. Can anyone explain please??

You are so right. I'm sure if I tried to commentate in Russian, native Russian viewers would have the same reaction to my weird accent.
Literally all the comments are about how they like his voice. You're like the third highly rated comment to say the same thing...

very late here but some chess games have something called an increment, where when you play a move, you gain a set amount of time
The commentator should star in a bond movie 🎥. Great knowledge on chess though and great guidance throughout the game.

Why not carlsen forward the pawn? Then check the king and queen using rook supported by pawn?
after pushing the pawn the kng would've captured the rook
IMO that leads to a check by the queen on f7 and from there he loses his control of the match with the rooks defending each other and no longer supported by that pawn

Why is it a perpetual check draw? Why not a light move like Kf7 and remove the rook on d4 out of the pin.

Can someone plz explain to me how this was a draw? I'm a novice chess player, but couldn't Magnus move his king up a space and keep the game going?
Made of Legos
Yes, he could but he didn't want. He'd have lost if he'd continued to play, so he prefered to draw the game.
