Thank you! Love your videos. This particular video was very helpful...an insiders look into your approach, which I found reassuring and encouraging. I am new to IEW and I have not officially taught my son how to write. I love IEW and so does he. After watching this video though, I realized that he would get more out of this if I guided him more. Thank you for sharing the details and how you chose to focus on structure and style and not make this into a spelling or mechanical lesson but focused on helping them learn to be confident writers.

Thank you!!! I have found that just getting kids writing is so powerful! Once they are confident in that area, then it's so easy to add in the grammar and spelling, and not nearly so overwhelming!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and tell me about your year!!!! That really means a lot to me, and I'm so happy that the videos I made helped you, because that is why I do it! I definitely go in spurts with my videos, and I have some ideas for videos hopefully in the next month or so!

Ok! So, before I even let this video play, I just want to thank you in advance. I have been on a hunt for a video like this. I can’t wait to hear what you have to share!

Thank you so much for this video series on IEW. I’ve always been so intimidated by IEW, just seemed like too much to understand and process for me and also for the student. Thank you for the in-depth video explaining how IEW works, as I believe you’ve helped to seal the deal for us in deciding to use it. I will be calling them for advice as I have 4th, 6-7th and 10th graders this coming year that I’d like to combine if possible.

It is a ton to wrap your mind around at first, but once you do, it all makes perfect sense! I've been extremely happy with how my daughter's writing has progressed using IEW, and couldn't be more impressed with the program. I found them very helpful on the phone, and I'm sure they can get you set up with something that you can use and modify for all your children! Now that I know the terminology, it will be easy for me to incorporate it as my little kids get bigger.

Wonderful! This video is several years old and we still do the same schedule many years later!

Thank you for these videos. Still listening but I’m wondering if you have had to purchase two levels. You talk about watching with your child which is what I’d prefer. But I have one kid who would fit with SSS 1B and one at 1A. Would I have to watch two videos and walk each kid through their stuff?

Hi Melissa! I personally don't think you would have to watch both levels at all. The skills they are teaching are going to be very, very similar. The level B will just move at a faster pace, and the text they are working with will be longer. I would probably watch the level B videos since they will be more in-depth, but that being said, if your younger child would prefer you to watch with them, you could definitely do that and learn what you need to there as well. The teacher guides in the SSS are very good, so you can always refer to that if your older child has a question.

Hi. Thank you. This was very informative. Wondering if you could tell me how long the lessons took you on a 4 day schedule. I just received the program in the mail...I’m exited!

So fun! Getting new curriculum is like Christmas! Do you mean how long did it take us to complete each lesson, or how long did it take us to complete the program?

How does grading work with this program?

There are checklists for each assignment that show what needs to be included, and you can total up a score based on that if you like. We use it more as a guide/reminder of what needs to be in each assignment as the lists build as you go through the program.
