For $1200, you can get the equalizer for $500, a Bushnell RXU-200 for $200, a case of ammo for another $200 a shooting course for the rest. Spectre comp is still really good, but the equalizer really punches above its price class

People complain about the grip safety, but can never offer a objective reason it is bad... never had a failure, never had a single incident resulting from the grip safety.... similar for the Californezuela loaded chamber indicator on the Shield...
But either pistol reviewed in this video would be a Better than Average choice for an EDC! Thanks again!

I own a Shield EZ 380, and recently rented the Equalizer. I am not a very experienced shooter, but have been enjoying the user friendly 380.
Upon picking up the equalizer, which had just iron sights, and shooting the initial mag, I was shocked to have an excellent grouping mostly in the bullseye. The range master had suggested I dry fire a few times, and that probably helped. I had not realized I could enjoy a 9mm after having tried some heavy springed 9’s. My husband’s first mag also yielded a very tight grouping at bullseye. We are now seriously considering getting the Equalizer. Thanks for your comparison video!

Don't sleep on that SW Equalizer. It really is a fantastic gun. Excellent multi-role pistol. Shield Plus mag congruity makes it so nice. 10rd for carry, 13rd for vehicle, 15rd for bedside. I really like mine. Bought it thinking I'd sell/give it to my Dad/Stepmom...Liked it so much I'm just gonna keep it, even though i have more than enough 9mms lol. Takes a 407k/507k natively with no plate, fits a TLR7A perfectly. Shot back-to-back-to back with a Shield Plus and an M&P9c, it really fills the middle role nicely. Much softer than the Shield Plus (my main carry) Not far off from the 9c. My ONLY wish really is that I could get a ClipDraw/TechnaClip for it. I usually prefer those to kydex holsters for carry myself. NDZ Performance makes a great Grip Safety for the EZ that fits the EQualizer perfectly. Much better feel.

I specifically bought the equalizer BECAUSE it has the grip safety and I took it a step further and chose the one with the manual safety as I intend to try carrying it using an AIWB holster. Carrying in that position, I personally want the added safety measures to be there.
I think having a slide that is easy to rack is underrated and people assume it only benefits a specific demographic of shooters. So I don't think that the slide being easy to rack ONLY benefits women, older people or those that have weak wrists or arthritis etc. I believe having a slide that is easy to rack is beneficial for anyone that is in a self defense scenario as the adrenaline/panic that inevitably ensues during a situation like that you are more likely to be successful in pulling the slide back properly to clear a jam, chamber the next round etc. as you are trying defend yourself or others with it. The ease of racking the slide also makes that action quicker as well as makes it easier doing it one handed if you happen to have your non-shooting hand occupied doing something else.

I've had a p365x for a couple years now. I've added the WC grip module because I found the stock grip to be a tad too thin. With the WC grip module the gun fits my hand a lot better. It’s amazing to see the Equalizer even compete with the Spectre Comp. A gun that’s supposedly for old people and was derided by a lot of “experts” even being considered in the same league of a factory custom job is a win. On top of that the difference in cost is a huge benefit just like you mentioned. I have a P365 XL which I love as well as the Equalizer and it’s hard to pick one over the other. • @AABlann
    @AABlann 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

People need to understand the purpose of the grip safety. It allows a much safer reholstering for appendix (and everything else too). So many tacti-cool guys practicing one handed manipulations and chasing the same old striker style trigger and grip. We should have a level of comfort and ability with each hand and this EZ rack system take so much of the difficulty out of the way.
Great gun. The size is great; small where you want (i.e. grip height and thin) and longer barrel/slide which helps keep appendix comfortable and more shootable overall.

I think a lot of people don't connect the fact that the equalizer, being an internal hammer fired gun, affects the tigger pull. It almost does not have a reset in the common way people think about it. Definitely, not a reset like striker fired. It is a single action trigger and the "reset" is the same as the initial trigger pull.

She also loved the ease of operation as far as the magazine swap and slide rack! Equalizer definitely has my vote! Also, the price point was a massive bonus for me as well! $500 + $15(?) for a red dot sight (don't remember make/model...) But it's been great! Fit PRRFECTLY in the machined slide grove! I'm a stock P365XL and Shield 9mm EZ owner. So not exactly the same comparison. I like shooting the EZ 9mm. I really like loading its single stack magazines. I also owned a Shield Plus and I don't like loading those magazines unless I'm using an Uplula so I have no use for the Equalizer. The P365XL mags are not as easy to load as the EZ 9mm for sure, BUT the great night sites on the XL, great ergonomics, better trigger, no grip safety to deal with and for me anyway, less felt recoil make the P365XL much more enjoyable to shoot. I have shot the Equalizer at my range. I liked it but a stock Equalizer versus a stock basic model P365XL, the XL wins easily.

That and anybody could use the Smith, even weaker or old people.

You articulated my exact objection to the Equalizer - I do not like and do not feel comfortable with any 'grip safety'. My wife and her sister both have Shield .380 EZ's and while they are adequate guns, I have trouble concentrating when using a grip safety. I own a 3.1" Shield Plus Performance Ct. with the ported barrel and slide for almost a year now and a Shield 2.0 before that. The Plus is the perfect match for my hand size and the grip angle is perfect. It's also small enough to carry comfortably. I also carry a Ruger LCP Max when I need to do 'deep concealment'. The Max works fine for me, but not nearly as much 'fun' to shoot during range practice. (I do own a Wilson Combat Sig P320 carry but that's an unfair cost comparison to these firearms)
When I train with the Plus (upgraded Trijicon Tritium HD sights), I can easily place all my rounds in a 1-2 MOA group from 15-24 feet and from 27-36 feet I can consistently shoot 3 MOA groups. Using the Plus, I took a 'simulated' Texas Concealed Carry test at my range with a Trainer (E-27 target) and would have scored a perfect 250 points. I really do attribute most of that accuracy to the feel, quality, and accuracy of the Shield when using high quality ammo. (Federal Syntech Subsonic). Also shows minimal recoil with Subsonic ammo. Julie Golob trains with it and it is consistently accurate. The Plus Performance Ctr. is also very resonably priced compared to the Sig. I recommend it highly.

In a stressful situation or being injured during an altercation, my fear is not being able to get a good solid grip under duress.

As for the Equalizer, I used to think it would be a good recommendation for women or people with weak hands, but I keep seeing more people saying it's uncomfortable or even that it hurts their hand. It seems that the only people giving it favorable marks are able bodied individuals. This has resulted in me trying to chase down the Ruger Security 380, and recommending individuals with reduced hand strength look at hammer fired guns that are easier to rack, or a revolver (not a big fan of revolvers for unskilled shooteres who aren't likely to train a ton).

@@danielhady3021it’s the plunger design. The p365 does not use that plunger design, which is why it doesn’t randomly go off

I like both the way you think and you assessment's are very good. i am a out of the box kind of guy my EDC is a S&W M&P 6.7 . now i am quite new to the shooting and have a couple on things to overcome my grip strength is poor if i shoot my S&W SD9 2.0 it will make my hand hurt after 6 or 8 clips i can shoot the 5.7 all day without any problem . but your way of going over the guns gives me alot to consider any way great job have a good one

This is a pretty terrible comparison. To each is own, but I'd much rather have the specter comp all day.

17 years in spec ops and I have yet to see anyone in our group run smith anything. We can pick any system we want. General consensus is that smith is civi garbage like the Stanley tools of guns.

How many times are we gonna compare the same few handguns? I don't mean that in a disrespectful way but some new content would be welcome.

I just think that S&W make some of the ugliest guns and that has kept me from ever considering one. It's just my opinion and with so many great options out there I will never own an S&W
