Soul asylum and the Foo Fighters were his two favs. I just used to really dislike when it was mandatory that Dave’s band play with the musical guests. It worked for some groups of course, but for other it just made the stage too crowded.

Some of the Letterman performances where the bands had to play with the house band are dire but this clip is great.
