This is incredible. I've been spending the last couple of days looking for a good video on guard passing but I haven't been satisfied with the results. This video could not have better timing! Thank you Bernardo and Gordon:)
@@korvmedmos979 it's disrespectful to a professor giving us world class content for free daily. If any of the disrespectful clowns tried that in person in any legit academy it would be dealt with accordingly.
Helo America, I just return from five years research stay at the South Pole and eager to get back to the mats. Who is this Gary Ryan? Does he have good things to teach? Thank you.
Great video with a lot information about Jiu Jitsu ! How many hours of hard training took to be developed this guard passing? A lot...anyway, thank you for both of them for teaching us !
Im more impressed with his way of teaching than the actual technique (which are insanely high level) he explains without a single wasted word or stutter. Eveything is progressive and leads well into thhe next sequence
This instructional is essentially about how to get to a good half guard passing position. The goat guard passers in no gi bjj pretty much all forced half guard and then passed from there. Including Gordon Ryan, Roger Gracie, Marcelo Garcia.
This is a systematic reactionary based strategy helping one capitalize on an opponents choice regardless if they choose A, B, or C. Really empowering. I'm curious to see how an opponent will eventually counter these options. Maybe Gordon has already figured that out.
It’s just WWE playbook. The guy gets eyeballs on him by building drama and creating clickbait headlines. I’m sure Gordon is just a chill dude/Jiu Jitsu nerd like most people.
What’s the point where he wants to pass from top half guard? Is it for points? Or to get to side control? When he’s camping the J point he could probably go side control there right? (Actually curious and trying to figure out the reason why he was to get to top half guard just to pass)
Gordon's basically unstoppable once he's chest to chest. So its not that he wants to pass half guard (z-guard, half butterfly, half guard on the hip)... its that once he's chest to chest in halfguard... its basically game over. From chest to chest with the opponent flat on their back, he will pass to mount nearly 100% of the time.
@@_danielmcg awesome, thanks for the explanation! So in order to get the most out of riding the J point & baiting the half guard, I have to improve my top half guard passing / flattening people out better etc?
@@BrykuIRL if you can torreando or “crash” from J camping into side control that’s a super viable strategy and one he covers in the passing 2.0 dvd set. I think Gordon prefers to finish or take the back from mount so passing directly saves him steps, especially if he has an arm isolated or double under hooks already
@@_danielmcg Aweesome would you recommend his dvd set? I trained bjj since 2017 (Only 3 stripe white belt since I was so inconsistent & only trained no gi) I'm trying to be more well rounded since I got for simular positions every time I roll (Back attack into the truck / Halfguard electric chair / side control attacks / back rnc / straight ankles) But realising that when I roll higher belts (Brown & black) The ones that compete always seem like they're controlling the pace of the roll, and since I'm more athletic / strong I seem to use less technique in some situations & more explosiveness / strength, and I'm trying to not rely on that and be able to flow between each sequence better & have more tools, sorry for the massive TED talk xD In short, was the dvd set benefit you & are there any more you would reommend? Gordan Ryan seems like hes so much further ahead of everyone at the moment
How come we get simple sttaightforward tekniques and strategy breakdowns from the best in the world but our coach makes up 5 or more fictitous movements before we get the the actual teqnique we were suppose to learn.
I really appreciate the info in this video, I just wish I could afford the actual course. It's $350. I have no doubt it's worth it, I'm just saying it's unaffordable for a lot of us.
So basically the Mendes style of passing. Pablo Lavaselli in the aoj channel has a video explaining part of it and it's pure gold. It's in spanish though.
Gets lapel choked by blue belts lol. He'd likely smash everyone even in the gi, the game has evolved an unbelievable amount since then and it's still progressing every year
When you see Gordon feinting boxing and wrestling you realise how special his jiu jitsu technique really is... proves he's not dripping in natural coordination
Every generation before us would kill for such great information and content, so grateful to be able to learn from the best, much appreciated!
$20 bucks a class at the original Gracie academy 😂

Best nogi guard passing video I have ever seen!
No athleticism, no flexibility, just angles and leverage. And at the same time using minimal amount of energy. Oss..

It is incredible how similar to John Danaher Gordon is when explaining something.

Great to see Ryan's solution-focused problem-solving methodology and the logic behind it.

Honestly Gordon just explained so much during the first 3 minutes, whatever he’s got to say next is really doesn’t matter for me no more
I am beginning my master degree on the topic of guard passing. I'll make this video the chief corner stone and main basis of the thesis.
Gordon always hitting that G spot with the tech!
Is that all that heavy breathing i hear?
I bought this instructional...fucking amazing. I was passing people I thought were unpassable in a few weeks
Thanks for the foundational information

I mean, that is what a system is. If you only can do the pass in one situation, it's not a system.
John says he has the best guard there is, if he has the best passing, it makes sense he has the best guard.

Title should say: Gordon feels Bernardo's J Point
Even better: Gordon gropes Nardo's J Spot
What is the title or name of this video ?
If Gordon gets bald he is Danaher.
I’m excited for that to happen honestly.
His accent is so distinct
What do you do if someone wrestles up really well?
Did Danaher coach the rest of the room specifically against Gordon’s game to keep pushing him to innovate?
Eventually, in every game something will always innovate and create a new meta
Probably. When someone starts dominating with a certain technique we'll run classes specifically to troubleshoot their game
It would be the intelligent thing to do. And danaher is relatively intelligent...
He was channeling Danaher big time 😋
