we had 4 back in the 80s , but we had manual slips with 3 handles and didnt have two set of links on the blocks that swung out , we had to push the elevators over the the pipe or use a pick up line and let the stabber hook up the elevators after the joint was made up , all the tong hand ( me ) had to do was run the tongs , but I always helped pull slips anyway
You Young Bucks don't even know how good you have it, going to chain and making different connections what you do with mechanical stuff from China. Really don't make you a roughneck, coming from an old school roughneck from 1986 can tell you you guys got it sweet. I seen the change even from drug testing, where 90% of the oilfield people originated from the old school disappeared, you kids wouldn't understand what real hard work is. Do what you got to do but respect the Elders of the oilfield.!
Jesus christ y'all are slow yesterday I put down 47 joints in one hour of 6" 17,000 long stream within 12 hours with just a pusher and I am a hand on a H&P rig for Marathon... West Texas isn't built like us South Texans..

We ran 36 inch casing off shore Nova Scotia with 9.25 inch Id pipe down past 17000 feet. This seems small by comparison.

All depends on the rig company and the skill of the driller and tong operator I'm close by and we can run 20,000 in 16 or less
