"Uptown babies don't cry. They have mummies and daddies, nannies and grannies. They don't know what hungry is like." - one of the creative works of Max Romeo
Always loved Max Romeo’s seminal War Ina Babylon album. Every track had something to say to me. Something meaningful to add to the background of black people’s struggle for justice. I recall in 2016 spending £30 to help finance one of his albums on Kickstarter. It was not very good in my opinion as the spark was gone.
One of my favourite artists I ever worked with. But the statement on day in rehearsal he affirmed MIKEY BOO RICHARDS as the only drummer he calls for his works.A LIVING LEGEND. RASPECT IN EVERY ASPECT!!! 🇯🇲🖤🇧🇴🥁🔥🔥🔥🆙🙏🏿
So marvelous, word bond yo...my Reggae jam sessions never complete without without Chasing the wicked devil off the earth...This era of Reggae music will always have a special place in my heart...Max Respect to Ras Romeo... and R.A.S channel, mad props to you for always sharing the knowledge...
I was booked to Dj at a beach dance last year and asked had I got any roots Reggae. When I put on war inna babylon the place went crazy, when I dropped chase the devil it waa all over. To think i only brought the album out for when I was testing the equipment. Pure fyahhh 🔥🔥🔥
@@ReggaeAppreciationSociety Jah Shaka has really represented some of the original foundation artists such as Gregory Issacs, Max Romeo, Icho Candy to name but afew. There is an unreleased tune by Max Romeo called "Rome", this was produced by Shaka in Jamaica backed by the Firehouse Crew. The tune Rome by Max Romeo is on TH-cam....killer tune
It is wild that even recently Max Romeo still has his voice and can perform very well. A lot artists his age don't have it anymore but he still sounds very similar to when he was young.
I wish we could go back in time, when a slightly spicey song was enough, to annoy the establishment. Nowadays over sexualised and over the top violence crap should have never been promoted. Besides the whole "War ina Babylon" Album, "Open The Iron Gate" is a banger, especially "Valley of Yehosephat", a true gem de one deh
This is a photo of late producer Sir Coxsone Dodd. A Pic of Max Romeo would've been more befitting. And I honestly think the critics were harsh on some of the post War ina Babylon albums.. Reconstruction was fantastic in my opinion and almost flawless while Holding out My Love To You was a real gem, boasting tracks like Voice of the Nazarene and Bell the Cat... Magnificent numbers, to name a few....
This video is 11 minutes and 13 seconds long. How could it tell the story of one of Jamaica’s most talented and legendary artists, Max Romeo? How much can we learn in 11 minutes and 13 seconds? This is more of an insult to the big man.

1:18 I would place "Heart Of The Congos" above the Heptones release in this group of 3.
9:07 interesting to see a commercial cigarette in is hand. Anyway, thanks for putting these profiles together.
Correction! Bunny Lee wrote "wet dream" and gave Max that big tune. Ensure you do a video on Mr. Lee and Tappa Zukie
To be honest I always saw max romeo as a winner.

Imagine if you would've play Dillinger's "CB200."
Another excellent video. The 2 Lps produced In the 1990s "captain of my ship" & "our rights" produced by the legendary Jah Shaka are killer LPs too.
Blessings mon thanks for the support 🙌. Fantastic albums. I didn't know they were produced by Jah Shaka

Perry aimed his "White Belly Rat" song at Maxie.
He saw him as ungrateful.
They patched up and rekindled their friendship later.

Thanks for the feedback on the thumbnail. Must be a glitch. Have reported to TH-cam. Hope it's fixed soon
Thank you
Thought you'd talk about the accident that involved him an mr Derrick morgan
Jay Z paid him a nice chunk of 💰for the Chase the Devil sample.
Yes I
Max Romeo, a true legend!!!
Marley took the bass riddim from War Inna Babylon song and used it for 3 Little Birds!!
Yes I ✌️ You nailed it. Bob wanted the song too
RASPECT IN ALL ASPECTS
Max never stared in any Broadway Show. Please Check your facts.
I remember you also had a role in the show☺️

That is Clement 'Coxsone' Dodd, founder of Studio One Records in Jamaica.
That is NOT Max Romeo!
Take the picture down!
We used the picture of Max Romeo but there seems to be a glitch with TH-cam
