My first boy band is the Backstreet Boys, I liked their music, my favorite Backstreet Boys Songs are "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)", "Larger Than Life", "I Want It That Way", And more. And this boy band biopic, came out on the same day, that Disney+ celebrated it's 5th Anniversary.
I loved TRL. It was a show that not only showcased the most popular music videos, but they would do interviews and live performances. I feel like music is so selective now, back then you just listened to everything no matter the genre.
it's always heartbreaking to watch this kind of documentary. Aside of reminding us - 2000s teens, how amazing those years were. Still.. it's pretty hard to see them not together again, and getting old, like we all do.. lol.. love you guys
I swear this better give equal time to New Edition considering NKOTB wouldn't exist without them. I will repeat. NKOTB would not exist without New Edition.
What are you talking about? They included New Edition and NKOTB, those are Gen X. New Edition especially is Gen X. They were the blue print for NKOTB which became the blue print for BSB and NSYNC.
Love NKOTB, NSYNC, and BSB are in this but really, really, really hyped for Hanson to be in this. Nobody gives Hanson the credit they deserve in the boy band history. The progression everyone forgets is New Edition>NKOT>Hanson then BSB and NSYNC. If it wasn't for Hanson the rest would not have been given the same opportunities. MTV hated NKOTB and at first they hated Hanson until they saw the female fan base for Hanson showing up outside their studio whenever the band would come. That's what warmed MTV up to boy bands. Sorry, this was my Ted Talk.
@rachelmills5774 1997 was the year the musical landscape changed. Gangsta rap ended after the murders of Tupac & Biggie & Grunge Rock faded. The Spice Girls debuted that year and were huge out the gate & they brought back teen Pop. They opened the floodgates for boybands to be big again, starting with Hanson.
@@GameLover-pz5zc As said a lot of people don't understand the impact Hanson actually had on this landscape. I don't think if Hanson hadn't done as well as they did MTV would have given the opportunities they gave to BSB or NSYNC.
I loved Hanson, and I was a grown woman when they came out. The Bay City Rollers are what started the phenomenon for me, and they were the top "boy band" of the 70s.
Yes perfectly said! I agree. But also Hanson is more of a band to me than boyband. They don’t dance, they play instruments and they write their own music. They absolutely do NOT get enough credit.
I'm a BSB Fan for life..an Hanson's as well I'm teared up watching this trailer...i can't wait to see it...for the younger Gen i know it may seem premature since Liam's passing but im sure he would of wanted it to be shown so that we know what it was like for them all... Sleep in Eternal Peace Liam 🤍🕊️
I had a Donnie Osmond doll. Have seen New Edition, NKOTB, BSB, 98 Degrees, and JT in concert multiple times. Saw Pop2000 with Chris K last year. And just last week I saw Seventeen in concert for the first time. ❤ these Boy Bands!
Larger than Life: Reign of the Boybands premieres on Paramount+ on Tuesday, November 12, in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and Brazil, and will also be available internationally in the U.K., Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
During the late 90's and early 2000's the boy band craze was completely out of control. Even today if the backstreet boys did a world tour right now, every single show would be completely sold out.
P+ is the king of the music documentary! They’ve got a massive list of top notch musical documentaries in their library. If anyone enjoys this type of stuff… then they’ve got you!!
Being a long time fan of NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and 98 Degrees I have seen a lot of their ups and downs Long before them we had The Monkees, The Beatles, The Beach Boys and Rolling Stones They had a lot of ups and downs too Bands have had same experiences and different experiences but we are all only human
Nothing will beat that 1997-2002 era of boybands: the pandemonium of BSB, Hanson, N'Sync, 98 degrees, 5ive, O-Town, BBMak & B2K was insane. Not even the eras of the Jonas Brothers or One Direction & the Wanted can beat that Y2K era.
With love, you clearly weren't involved in the One Direction era. They are arguably one of the most succesful boy bands of all time. Plus, every single member had success as solo artists as well.
Backstreet boys, NSYNC, seventeen, one direction, hanson brothers, b2k 98 degrees... Man I could go on and on... I loved living in the era of boy bands!!! I'm getting old now though... When's the next one coming out 😢 my kids are in line now so I can go with them and rock out lol 😂
In my opinion, out of all the pop boy bands they are listing here in this doc including One Direction and others I don't see listed like say 5ive or LFO, Backstreet Boys is by far the best of all of the 90s boy bands and beyond. Obviously *NSync was mad popular and eclipsed them for a little bit with No Strings Attached and Celebrity, but Backstreet has the better, richer harmonies and numerous classic songs. You can list *NSync's most classic songs on one hand. Add an extra finger for six if you wanted to. Also, I'd say *NSync are the best dancers of all of them for sure. But with only 3 albums to their name and a Christmas album compared to BSB's 9 albums and plus a Christmas album, along with numerous timeless hits, and a career and fandom that legit has not stopped since they started in the 90s, Backstreet Boys are the best boy band to have done it. If there were a original blueprint on working up a boy band, those guys are it. They have a true signature harmony sound that is all their own that rivals all of them. On BSB's best vocal day, no other pop boy band is beating them. Check out their early work or even hits halfway through their career. Even the hits without Kevin whenhe stepped out the band are strong. Singing makes the best boy band and while they aren't the best dancers, BSB was always good enough to check a box in that department. In their prime though, none of these other bands could ever outdo their vocal.
I was kind of shocked they are in this. Because while many do consider them a boy band they have said themselves they don't really consider Hanson a boy band.
To me Hanson is BAND. They play instruments, they don’t dance choreography…. I live for the BSB, I know all of them play instruments too, they compose as well but THAT’s what a boyband it. Singers who DANCE. Ps: I love Hanson A LOT. 💜
@crystalsnow1138 I really meant of boybands of the past 2 decades. Not from 50 years ago. I also meant in age aswell, of popular boybands do you know any who lost a member that were as young as 31 y o? Probably not.

My first boy band Backstreet Boys and my last boy band SEVENTEEN!! 🎉❤

I watched TRL a ton through my post-college days, but I still listen to a ton of music genres like I did when TRL was a thing.
When they showed music videos
did not expect Seventeen to be on the list
Honouring Liam Payne from One Direction, Tom Parker from The Wanted and Stephen Gately from Boyzone
And Devin & Rich from LFO
@cynthrocks what about Brian from LFO?

As long as the Backstreet Boys are there!!! 🖤💙🖤💙
Bsb and nsync (in that order) were, and still are, the best boyband music, by far.
I love how it has boy bands from every single era. There’s something for everybody here.
it should be on Netflix as well 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Great to see the legendary Michael Bivins sharing this insight and wisdom 🗣️
