Sport Fury was a fine car. You could add many options to make it a dream.

That is actually a Sport Fury--if you notice the bubble-like back glass & the polished aluminum panel between the split chrome side trim; those are two tell-tale signs... Absolutely Beautiful vehicle!

I got my 64 for $500 in 1970. Black with Red interior bench seat and the massive Hurst Shifter that came with the Max Wedge and possibly the 383 and 361

Do you remember what 1964 Fury tail lights looked like? If you were driving something else, you got to see those Fury tail lights many times!

I had a 64 Fury...not Sport Fury. Red, black vinyl bench, factory 383, 330 horses, factory 4 speed, dual pipes, no power steering or power brakes, dog dish hubcaps. Magnificent car. Bought it after boot and combat training in 1968 on a 7 day leave. $1000.. a perfect car. Parked it in dads garage, flew to Florida for tech training and after 7 months of tech training I got another 6 or 7 day leave before I flew to Vietnam for 13 plus months. Then 30 days leave back home and back to Vietnam for 6 more months. I came back wound tight. Short temper and a hardened attitude. Pissed off, really. And 19 months of regular and combat pay saved up. I spent it under the hood plus more. I spent several thousand 1970 dollars on suspension and engine mods. Lunati cam and kit, Holley 3310, electric pump, weiand manifold, Hooker fenderwell headers, traction bars, stiff rear shocks, 3.91 gears, Hurst Competition plus shifter, Lakewood blowproof bellhousing,ET mags, big and little tires. I figured maybe 400 horses. Within days of my honorable discharge I lost my license...willful reckless driving. 10 days in jail too. That Fury hauled ass...never beat on the street or strip. I raced 426 wedge Mopars, GTO Judge, Stage 11 Buick, 428 Mach One, Barracuda....others. Beat all of them. I sold it after losing my license. One of the biggest mistakes of my life.....I couldn’t afford high risk insurance on a high performance car...$90 a month in 1970 dollars. Lots of money back then. Two brothers bought the car strictly to drag race. They trailered it to a small farm town a long way from my home town of Omaha. I’ll bet it’s sitting under a tarp in an outbuilding in that small town. I dream of finding it. I’m getting old but my attitude and health is young. My 1200cc V-max cycle..143 horses...keeps my heart going. HorsePower lust makes for a youthful attitude. Check your mirror before you hammer it. Trust me. Dave Heitman Sgt USMC 1967-1970 Semper Fidelis. If this rings a bell with anyone in Basset NE.......deheitman5@cox.net

You messed up losing your license or Insurance company would not have known it was High Performance. I know Mopar people now can tell which engine by Vin but back then the Insurance companies did not get the information until about 1970 when they pressured Automobile makers to make it easy to tell what engine and HP.

I thought you were going to say that you sold it after coming home for 30 days and before going back for another 6 months to the Viet Nam War. Those who went there, were never guaranteed that they were going to come home. The attitude is why keep a car that you may never return home to?

I had the exact steering wheel in my '64 Belvedere back in about 1969. I sold that car in 1970 for 300 bucks. What a bonehead I was. That was the best of the early 60's B body MOPARs in my opinion.

Hemi Head It took him forever just to get it of shop , it sounds like he is scared to death of it. I know what it is , there’s no owners manual

First, it's not his car. Second, he's probably scared to screw something up and have to pay for it on a salesman's salary. Last, I wouldn't want to see the sales guy driving a car hard that I might be interested in.
