It didn't look that far so I walked. I got lost, but even so it was lovely cos it took me near the canal right behind the zoo and I could see the hyenas. It was beautiful day and great walk.

This is to prevent the cup from sustaining damage from heat shock and prevents staining of the cup.
Though it is good practice to pre warm any cups and pot before brewing the tea to sustain heat for longer.
    I really like tea...

I don't think that T.E.A. abbreviation is right. The origin of the word 'tea' pretty well known. "The etymology of tea can be traced back to the various Chinese pronunciations of the word. Nearly all the words for tea worldwide, fall into three broad groups: te, cha and chai, which reflected the history of transmission of tea drinking culture and trade from China to countries around the world." - Wikipedia

As it happens, "tea" "chai" and "herbata" all originate from the same Chinese word. Where the word came over land it is usually like "tea" while where the word came over sea it's like "chai". This is because there were two forms of the Chinese word, one the coast in the south and one in the north. "Herbata" is essentially just "herb + tea".

Later, merchants brought tea back to Europe and tea got its English name. This why Tea is written the way it is today. It has nothing to do with Transporte de Ervas Aromaticas.

Swans are cool I guess, I don't drink tea (especially not without milk like they showed here), never had jellied eels or ridden a London cab. I don't see how having a stand in for an important person is exclusively British, and we aren't all gently gracing around.
Go North and you will find the UK is not just London. It has many beautiful treasures such as the common chav and people saying "Eeeeee" to express shock at someone's, or something's, bad actions.

Thanks for the upload. I live in Abingdon ,,which he mentions in this programme and the river Thames here' has lots of swans, but they are really vicious buggers!.I've been chased by them in the park , they hiss like a snake ,whilst flapping there huge powerful wings. The swans wings have been known to brake peoples arm. They actually can just turn on you, which is pretty scarey, although it does make me laugh when ya see a grown man running away from Swans. Omg I remember one time I was cannoing on Oxford and all these swans started swimming towards me ,I was so scared ,but luckily someone on the river bank started feeding them, I never paddled so fast in my life, lol .but they do look nice ....from far away 😃

The tea being an abbreviation of "transporte de ervas aromaticas" is a fun story, but the origin of the word is actually Chinese. Tea is written as 茶 in Chinese, but the pronunciation of the character varies. Interestingly, most languages of the world use one of two words, "cha" and "te". The former, being the northern Chinese pronunciation, was introduced to Asia through the silk road, and this word became standard along the route and is used today from India to the Middle East to Russia. The latter, being the southern Chinese pronunciation, became the standard in most of the West as it was introduced to Europe by Portuguese, Spanish and Dutch merchants. They landed in ports in southern China, and thus we call it "tea" instead of "chai" in the West.
