The kid in the Iron Man mask who they showed twice is Peter Parker. If you haven't noticed watching the Iron Man movie pepper ends up defeating the main villain in every movie. Pepper killed Obadiah by overloading The Arc reactor in Tony's facility. He had Justin Hammer arrested. Justin Hammer with the main villain of this movie because Ivan vanko AKA whiplash would have been in jail if it wasn't for Justin Hammer not to mention Hammer provided Ivan with the tech to build his hammer drone army while also giving him access to the Mark II war machine armor. The element Tony recreated is a synthetic version of The cosmic cube just without the cosmic properties. The cosmic cube goes by a different name and it will be introduced in later installments.
The final fight where Iron Man and War Machine were just tearing things up is one of my favorite fights in all of the MCU. The shoulder mounted gattling gun going is just SO COOL. War Machine's been one of my faves ever since the MvC days back in the arcade.

The thing he made has nothing to do with the cosmic cube. It's more like a synthetic version of vibranium according to Marvel.
