My bestfriend used to check out on me every month to make sure I save some money before spending. When we were living in same city, she used to make plans so we can hv fun without splurging. I am at better financial state today compare to 10 years ago. I am so grateful to hv her in my life.

I have a couple friends who are amazing at understanding why I'm in this frugal stage of life but the majority of the others have cut me out entirely because I'm not in a similar financial position as they are. I choose to focus on the good friends who have no issue with a picnic in the park or a day at the beach.

I don’t mean to sound arrogant. But I’m that friend who has more money and no debt other than the mortgage. I wear clothes from thrift shops and my purse and wallet are not designer items. Well I met this new friend or acquaintance who had more expensive taste but was living paycheck to paycheck. She always wanted to go out to eat and shop afterwards which wasn’t my thing. She would also bring me to her friends’ house who was just like her but I felt so out of place. I looked the poorest but had more in the bank than them and I just had to distance myself bc it was exhausting being with them. And their constant flexing on FB.

My friends have different income levels (above & below mine) and we love just hanging out at one another homes doing potlucks cause going outside cost too much 😂😂. It also helps that we can be honest with one another about if an activity is outside of what we are willing to pay for.

Solid tips! I love that you mentioned hosting being a great way to save money and yet still have fun. I love hosting but I never thought of hosting a movie night or a games night because we typically just host dinner (which does get expensive). Thank you for your great videos! 🙌🏾

When you have a generous friend who gifts you with things you can't afford. Do small things for them, like volunteering to babysit, take them a home cook meal for lunch.

Thank you for posting this video. I don't have my finances totally organized myself, but I consider myself fairly responsible. I have friends who will want to plan things, but I know their budget is tighter than mine because they tell me about their struggles. It's hard because I understand and want to hang out, but I also hope that they will soon figure things out in a way that is best for them.

I had a friend that went into debt to keep up with the Jones. She ended up becoming the most miserable and insecure person over the years and I finally had to cut her off. The weird thing was that it was me suggesting we do cheaper things and her wanting to do more expensive things.

This was a great video with great tips! Would love to see more content about this and how to think positively about money even when you may not have a lot of money, may not have a top paying career, or may not be able afford more than the essentials.

I need the reverse of this video when you’re the friend that makes more than your friends. I realize often times I have to portray myself as lower so that they don’t feel bad and even when i suggest ways they can elevate financially they’re not accepting of the advice.

Seriously , I've been in a situation where friends will say let's go eat here yatta yatta but they don't have the money for it ? Is it rude for me to ask if they are able to cover what they order prior to that ?

Actually, I'm the one with the money amongst my friends. Most of my friends are benefit bums. I need more classy mates

See I had to cut out the poor friends and family out of my life because they never have money to do the things I enjoy and am now able to have new experiences due to my increase in income...I don't hang around poor people..
