  • Interesting configuration on the 2-88. Probably not to many open station ROPS tractors built. Probably the sharpest tractors White ever built.

    In the 60s, 70s, equipment dealers would have open houses in January - February. Hot dogs burgers coffee, etc, and reps from the tractor corporate would have discussions with questions and answers after showing these promotional videos. I really enjoyed these videos, Ethan. Thank you.

    I loved the whites I was in high school and worked at a white dealership putting equipment together and running whites in the field , my very first white in the field was a 4-150, I sure miss those days , but I do however have a 4-150 that I purchased a couple years ago that I take the the local antique machinery show every August, that's it's one long trip of the year , thanks for the video Ethan

    Man I appreciate these videos and content you put up. Makes me wish I had more time to film like I used to. But I’m farming with old equipment and busy with a full time job. But like I said. Keep it up buddy. Glad your doing this for the TH-cam community, and keeping the Oliver/white spirit alive.

    Love these promo vids. As a kid, a friend of ours had john deere videos from the 50s we watched a lot. Enjoyed every minute of them. Now dad and I have a collection going from john deere, International, to allis chalmers. Very cool to see the old equipment brand new and at work. This is my first time seeing the White's.

    Have a 2-110 and the advertising on fuel economy is spot on. Goes forever on a tank of fuel.

    The 2-110 seemed "cramped" in the 4wd configuration, then again, I think they all did back in the day. Love these video's.

    I get sad when I watch these, as a child of the 80s it's hard to keep the hope alive knowing the difference between now and then. I refuse to become a victim of administration's and society actions but things are pretty grim compared to then. It's what we make of it I spose.

    That is a pretty cool config on the 2-88! I always liked later (rarer to see) open stations. We have a Case IH 2096 at the farm I work for that's open station. I really like running that tractor. The ole J.I. Case designed powershift is a little funky, but it's a fun machine to run overall.

Makes me sad a bit though to think about how business was conducted back then compared to now- lots of small dealers are gone, not as many equipment brochures and advertisements handed out, and do manufacturers even make cool promotional videos like this anymore?

    It was a fun time. You didn't have to call a dealer every week to check the computer malfunctions.
    I laughed when the video said "fill 58 gal. fuel for all day work" with federal mandates on engines 58gal. wouldn't last 3 hrs. The 80s were a fun time to farm so were most of the 90s. Then big brother got involved were they had no business and as usual it turned to s^&+.

    I was in the Navy when White Tractors were being fielded. No experience with them, but from what i've read White did not do well with them even though many Oliver parts were in them. Never was a fan of idiot lights, believe in gauges, so would not have liked some of the White operators stations.

    • @darweb3417
      @darweb3417 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Oliver66FarmBoy My wording didn't reflect my thinking. It was while I was in the Navy that White start branding the Olivers with the White logo. I only knew about Olivers while on the farm, had no idea that White had purchased Oliver; thus never heard of a White. When I came home from the Navy my brother had the farm, so I did not go back to farming and was ignorant of White equipment.

    As nice as those tractors were its too bad they could not do a better job to execute sales and cover the customer base that MM and Oliver had. My Farm was always IH but we had many neighbors who ran the MM or oliver brands that went to Deere or Ford New Holland. Now in the current day they are trying to grab some share with the fendt line
