Lead singer Sharon Den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt formed the band in 1996, same year Nightwish started. But ,unlike Tarja, Sharon doesn't have extensive training. She is mostly self taught. Within Temptation is based in symphonic metal, but they move around and explore other styles more than the others. Usually, when this is played live, they have Tarja's prerecorded part on playback while they are playing. Tarja has performed with them a few times, including Masters of Rock 2019. My favorite WT song is Ice Queen.
This is a great band. You need to check out the MV for Angels .. it’s a great video and Sharon flexes her vocals good in that one. Or another good one is The Promise (live version ). Basically any song you pick by them will be good.
The next step after NW, Epica and WT should be Arjen Lucassen. He has different projects and is one of the best composers in the World. No more spoilers 🤪. 1st Ayreon "The day the World breaks down", 2nd Star One "Lost children of the universe" or "Fate of man". And I am waiting for Epica again 😂. Maybe "Beyond the Matrix" live from Paris. The best WT song for me is "Mother Earth".
AHHH THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I'm so glad you loved it!!! Within Temptation is my *favorite*. Sharon has my favorite voice ever, and she's rather special among the well-known symphonic metal singers for actually NOT being classically trained. Her voice is very natural and very clear. And she's actually singing rather calmly here--just WAIT until you hear the high notes and belts this woman can do! She does indeed sing that operatic part with Tarja. It's kind of drowned out in this studio mix, but a great live performance to hear it is the M'era Luna one! You also get to see her and Tarja's wonderful chemistry. Some background about the song: Within Temptation is kind of known for doing collabs with a lot of singers, and also for having songs with very socially-conscious messages. Like this one is very much about environmentalism. They wrote the song and thought it needed something extra and that Tarja would be a wonderful addition to it. The funny thing is, after all these YEARS of being the top names in the genre, Tarja and Sharon had still never actually met, only knew about each other. They sent the demo to her manager and once she agreed, they had like one Skype call and then never actually met in person until the day they shot the music video. And they've been best friends ever since. You can just feel the adoration they have for each other whenever they perform live, and it's really wonderful. All of these women in symphonic metal seem so dedicated to supporting and being friends with each other, no matter how much fans and media like to compare them. It's impossible to choose just one song to recommend next, especially because WT has gone through so many evolutions and Sharon's voice has grown SO much. They're a group that's always looking for the next challenge and always wants the music to reflect who they are and what they're feeling now, so their discography is wonderfully versatile. Tarja too, her skill and range continue to improve with every year and she writes, composes, and largely produces all of her own music. That said, I leave you a whole list of songs to take you through the different eras of these artists: *Within Temptation*: The Promise - live at Black Symphony concert Somewhere - live at Black Symphony concert, duet with Anneke van Giersbergen The Truth Beneath the Rose - live at Black Symphony concert Faster - music video Let Us Burn - live at Elements concert The Whole World is Watching - music video, featuring Dave Pirner from Soul Asylum Raise Your Banner - music video, featuring Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach Entertain You - music video The Purge - music video Shed My Skin - music video from their live VR concert, featuring Annisokay They also have a brand new single coming out next Friday called Don't Pray For Me (music video dropping July 13th) and it should be *epic* *Tarja*: Nemo - End of Era concert with Nightwish Ever Dream - End of Era concert with Nightwish She Is My Sin - From Wishes to Eternity with Nightwish Victim of Ritual - live at Woodstock Supremacy (Muse cover) - live at Milan Diva - I think the best live version is "first time live," but there are also some good lyric videos. The one titled "Diva (with lyrics)" in particular really hits home that this song was a response to all the shit Nightwish put her through that resulted in a defamation case. Until My Last Breath - Act II live in London Sleeping Sun - originally a Nightwish song and there's a good performance from End of Era, but also a recent and very wonderfully unique FOLK cover that she performed with Steve N Seagulls Also, Sharon has some incredible covers and solo work she's done. To hear her powerful voice, there's no better introduction than Just What I Need Tonight from the show Liefde voor Muziek (essentially the Belgian version of Beste Zangers; it's their tradition to invite some Dutch artists every year, and Sharon was one of them). She also has a solo indie pop album called My Indigo that draws a lot of influence from artists like Florence and the Machine, Fleetwood Mac, and Kate Bush. (Also, Tarja is pronounced "Tariya" :)
As for why Tarja left Nightwish…that’s a loaded question 😅 A lot of people get VERY heated about which “side” they’re on, but in the end like 99% of the argument is “he said, she said.” I think the only really important things to remember is that 1) it was over 15 years ago and all parties involved seem over it and happier for the split, and 2) everyone was quite young and I think most of it is less a case of maliciousness and more just them not knowing how to handle the conflict and ending up making some bad choices. Essentially, Tarja told the band that she was going to leave to pursue a solo career after their next album, which would have been completed within two-three years. But instead of letting that play out, the band chose to dismiss her at the end of the End of an Era concert (hence the name) with an open letter that they also posted to the Nightwish website. That's why in performances from that concert you might notice the energy is "off" or some of the band members getting emotional-particularly Tuomas during the start of Ever Dream. The whole band knew that it was Tarja's last show, except for her. The letter claimed that Tarja was kind of a diva-never showing up to practices, preferring to fly with her husband rather than in a bus with the band, wanting tours to have fewer stops in larger venues, and at one point in the heat of an argument threatening that she could leave them with only a day’s notice if she wanted to. They also put a lot of the blame on Tarja’s Argentinian husband (the Argentinian part is important, because there were allegations of some racism towards him), who was the band’s manager when they met. They claimed that he changed Tarja and made her start caring only about money and fame. From Tarja’s side we get a bit of a different picture: the boys didn’t want to talk whenever she asked if something was wrong, she didn’t want to travel with the band because they were always getting drunk and she was uncomfortable, she wanted fewer performances so she’d have time to rest her voice between them, and the boys would plan concerts without telling her until they were on the road so she couldn’t back out. Stuff like that. There were also rather serious rumors, even stated by Tarja’s husband, that Tuomas was in love with her and continued to pursue her even after she was married. Soooo yeah, it was a mess. The whole firing with the letter thing was shitty to do, and on the one hand it was a good way to make sure the band came out of the split with the most publicity and the better image. On the other hand, Tuomas has said they simply did it because she was flying back home to Argentina the next day and if they hadn’t dismissed her then it would have dragged on for several more months until they saw her again. Which like…I understand that, and I understand not knowing how to deliver news like this in person. It doesn’t make it less shitty but like I said, everyone was young. The other important part of the story is what happened after the split, though. The End of an Era dvd and band biography seem meant to back up the band’s claims of Tarja being a diva and both parties ended up signing a non-defamation agreement to prevent future badmouthing like that. Tuomas wrote the Dark Passion Play album which features several songs about the conflict-The Poet and the Pendulum about his resulting depression from it as well as Master Passion Greed about Tarja’s husband and Bye Bye Beautiful about Tarja herself. He’s actually acknowledged that Master Passion Greed came from a place of deep anger and he’d never perform it live, and I’ve heard Floor refuses to perform Bye Bye Beautiful live too out of respect for Tarja. As for Tarja, everything I’ve seen of her shows her to be a very gracious, kind-hearted, and down-to-earth person. Annette, Tarja’s replacement, also had a lot of rumors about mistreatment surrounding her tenure, and upon her leaving said that she “understood Tarja now” or something like that. Which makes the claims that she was just this huge diva kind of hard to believe. But I don’t know. We’ll never know for sure. There simply isn’t any objective party that could tell us. The closest we get is Marko, who joined the band during the Century Child album and so wasn’t as emotionally invested in the conflict, and pretty much all I know about his point of view is that there WAS conflict and he was the one who advised Tuomas that Tarja had to be fired, because they couldn’t continue on with all this friction. Which brings us full circle back to: everyone seems happier now. Tuomas is married, still writing amazing music for Nightwish, and has Floor who can adapt to nearly anything he asks of her voice. Floor and Tarja are friends and Floor asked Tarja’s blessing before joining Nightwish, which she gave without any qualms. Tarja has a successful solo career where she’s able to write, compose, and produce her own songs and has worked hard to expand her vocal abilities. And they are all probably very sick of being asked about 15 year-old drama, which does STILL happen occasionally with interviewers.
Thank you for the comment and explaining the relationship between these two. I'd never think this was the first time they met! But I love that they are so close now. Thank you for the recommendations as well! Let's go down another rabbit hole!!
WT are a fantastic band. Sharon does indeed have a beautiful voice. Angels, Memories, Ice Queen, The Howling among many great songs of theirs to check out.
You need to check out "The Truth Beneath The Rose" live from their Black Symphony concert. There's a lot of songs from that concert worth checking out as they have a full orchestra backing them.
Yeah Sharon from Within Temptation is MORE than capable of hitting higher notes. What makes her different is, that while Floor from Nightwish and Simone from Epica have powerful and impressive voices, and Tarja has a perfect operatic voice, Sharon has a powerful BUT ANGELIC smooth voice. She can sound like a fairy that can put you to sleep. A great song for you to follow this up is "The Promise" live Rock Werchter (2002).
Good Within Temptation songs to listen - Stand my ground -Ice Queen - Somewhere (with Anneke v Giersbergen) - What have you done - Titanium - Let us burn basicly all their songs....
Thank you for checking out Within Temptation. They don't get the love they deserve. I recommend the songs Jillian, Angels, What Have You Done, Our Solemn Hour, The Truth Beneath The Rose, The Heart Of Everything, A Dangerous Mind, Covered By Roses, In The Middle Of The Night, A Demon's Fate, and one of their newer songs Supernova.
Within Temptation are an awesome band. I'm a huge Nightwish fan but the beauty of this Symphonic metal genre is the crossover and friendliness between band members and also the fans. Mutual respect is always evident be it on social media or at gigs. I watched the recent Nightwish Hellfest gig and there were several people in the front row with Epica tee-shirts singing their lungs out. Floor, Tarja, Simone and Sharon are usually liking and commenting on each other's socials, performing together or even interviewing each other. Our genre has some of the best singers and musicians in the world today and there is room for all of them. Certainly in my CD rack.
I always say the same thing! I think it’s so admirable how all of these female singers are so supportive and friendly towards one another despite fans and media trying to create competition. They really do just want to have fun together, and the collabs we get out of it are always amazing!
Tarja and Sharon were the queens of symphonic metal.💙💙💙 Check out Epica and Leaves Eyes! I went through a phase of female, symphonic metal, 15 years ago. Within Temptation are awesome, live!
@@GOTGames Leaves Eyes new singer, Elina Siirala, is Tuomas' cousin! Metal IS family! Their older songs, with Liv Kristine, are very worth checking out too!
Sharon has a lot of power in her voice too, but she can sing in several different ways and Within Temptation are always changing as well. They can sound completely different from bands like Nightwish and Épica, depending on which song you pick. You should check out their latest single, “Shed My Skin”… Powerful, meaningful and heavy song. They’re a very down-to-earth band, you can contact them and they’re very open to reaction videos
Within Temptation has had a number of amazing collaborations like this one on their Hydra album. Other featured artists on the same album: Howard Jones (formerly of Killswitch Engage), Xzibit and Dave Pirner(Soul Asylum). My fav track from their Resist album is Raise Your Banner.
Within Temptation is such an amazing band! In Perfect Harmony is my absolute favourite but Angels and Our Farewell are amazing too. I’m so glad you’ve decided to jump down this rabbit hole after reacting to Nightwish so much :D
So glad you like WT, one of my favorite bands. Sharon is an angel, both on stage as well as backstage (but then again, most metal bands are so very kind to their fans and as a photographer you get to meet them often as well, love the laidback and easy atmosphere with the metal bands). So many wonderful songs by WT, gonna recommend one, try: Within Temptation and Metropole Orchestra with Anneke van Giersbergen - Somewhere
sharon and tarja sounds so good together. thanx to great reaction and have wonderful weekend. last time i see live this song and band, band play video screen tarja part.
Hi G.O.T yet another huge talent and rabbit hole to go down. SHARON has a voice like no other powerful yet angelic. As you've probably guessed there's a huge choice of songs. My favourite & on my playlist is "AND WE RUN " a collaboration with EXIBIT. Now I don't like rap music just not my cup of tea BUT WOW a true BANGER. They said RAP AND SYMPHONIC METAL won't work oh how wrong they were. GREAT REACTION AS ALWAYS
Song is beautiful and a banger no doubt about it, Sharon Den Adel used to be my first queen (shhh don't tell anyone I don't want SuMetal get jealous 😅) I know this band almost by the same time I met Nightwish with Tarja before leaving and they got so many good songs worth to watch such "Angels, Memories, Stand My Ground, Sinead, Faster, Dangerous, And We Run, Ice Queen, Mother Earth, Raise The Banner, Supernova" and many more. My favorites are "Covered by Roses" and "Holy Ground" but those don't have official MV and all the live version I heard don't have a really good sound, probably there are. There is a live version of this with Tarja on the stage and is awesome with minimal changes. You haven't heard nothing yet, wait to hear Sharon angelic vocals and more symphonic metal songs with her beautiful voice. Thanks for sharing this.🤘
Within Temptation is my all-time favourite band. Sharon den Adel has such a pure and pleasant voice to listen to and her range is quite broad, even though she never go fully operatic, she uses whistletones or high headnotes. She also got a quite powerful belt and a flexible voice. The song material is very good with Within Temptation, and if you ever want another fantastic live duet check out Black Symphony version of the song called Somewhere. Looking forward to seeing more Within Temptation from you
finally there they are, the great band Within Temptation thank you for this wonderful response. fun fact Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt (that bald man) are married and have 2 sons and daughter together
This is from their sixth studio album 'Hydra'. As well as Tarja, they did duets with ex-Killswitch Engage singer Howard Jones (Dangerous), Soul Asylum's Dave Pirner (Whole World is Watching) and rap artist Xzibit (And We Run). Lead singer, Sharon Den Adel, has a degree in Fashion Design and designs and makes her stage costumes.
Nice reaction guy, this was the first collaboration between Tarja and WT, and the beginning of a cutie relationship between Sharon and Tarja. If you want to watch and listen to another side from them and the full potential of the singer Sharon, you should listen the songs '``The promise (Black Symphony)'' or ''The Truth beneath The Rose (Black Symphony)'', two of my favorite songs from WT.
They've done this live (with Tarja) at least three times, and I think the few times they've done it without her in person they had an audio/video of her play during her bits. The live versions are good but not great, there's always something off with the sound mixing, at least in the recording. That said, the Hellfest performance is a great watch because Tarja and Sharon have so much fun on stage together and Tarja goes ham during the operatic bridge. For proof of Tarja's phenomenal stage presence, check out 'Stargazers' live from Buenos Aires 2011. It's during Tarja's solo career but it's originally a Nightwish song. It's an amazing performance that should be required viewing for everyone. ALSO you should listen to Tarja's version of 'Ever Dream,' since I saw you liked that song with Floor. Either the live version from Lowlands 2005 or End of an Era. Also, if you like Tarja's opera skills, I recommend the band Ex Libris. Their singer Dianne, while different in her sound, has a very similar style and is one of the best besides Tarja herself. Favorite song is 'The Miscarriage,' which is about Anne Boleyn. Gorgeous track. AND ANOTHER THING, you still gotta check out the second Nightwish singer, Anette. Try 'Rest Calm,' 'The Crow, the Owl, and the Dove,' or 'Turn Loose the Mermaids.' For more Within Temptation, some of my personal favorites are: 'Aquarius,' 'Never-Ending Story,' 'Memories,' 'Stand My Ground,' and 'What Have You Done?' And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Like Nightwish, Within Temptation have been around for ages so you have a lot of material to make your way through!
There's is/ was a festival in Belgium called MFVF "metal female voices festival". entirely dedicated to all female or female fronted metal bands. I went one year and it was awesome. it spans all genres of metal, heavy metal, symphonic, prog rock. the year I went was Epica, Tarja, Doro, amongst many others. fantastic weekend
Within temptation is a great studio album but they’re AMAZING live. I suggest checking out anything from Black Symphony concert, “the promise” is great and then, there’s another live version from last year and you can hear progress in Sharon’s voice. Sharon hits very high notes, she’s known for airy, high notes and she can belt as well. There’s live version w it Tarja and they’re both hitting those notes together.
OMG you really did this... whitin temptation is my favourite nonkpop band. i love them so much and sharon and tarja are real godesses ... their voices are incredible. i love them since ice queen. You need to here Sharon live... Sharon den adel and anneke van giersbergen Somewhere... its amazing, you will get goosebumps
When Within Temptation performs this song live, they just simply bring out Tarja! Also, I would recommend Ice Queen, the song that meant Within Temptation's breakthrough in the Netherlands. Also, if you like Nightwish, I can definitely recommend a project called Ayreon, begin with the song The Day that the World Breaks Down
Nightwish is my favorite band and Floor is my favorite female vocalist. Within Temptation is #2 and Sharon is my #2 favorite vocalist. This band has a ton of great songs. Outstanding live. Check out "And We Run" featuring Xzibit. "Dangerous" Featuring Howard Jones.
Within Temptation - The Promise live Rock Werchter (2002) is an early WT live perfomance with younger Sharon "hitting notes" pretty much, also Memories and Angels both are great WT music videos. Later they moved from symphonic metal to gothic rock/metal.

Catchy as hell! Faster is an another banger from WT
Here's a nice list of Within Temptation songs for you to check out: 🔸Shed My Skin (feat. Annisokay), 🔸A Demon's Fate, 🔸Angels, 🔸What Have You Done (feat. Keith Caputo), 🔸Memories, 🔸And We Run (feat. Xzibit), 🔸Sinéad, 🔸Our Solemn Hour, 🔸Ice Queen, 🔸Faster, 🔸Dangerous (feat. Howard Jones), 🔸Raise Your Banner, 🔸The Purge, 🔸Somewhere (feat. Anneke van Giersbergen) .
"Running up that Hill" by Kate Bush made a phenomenal reappearance in the top-charts after almost 40 years due to the Netflix series "Stranger Things". The song is currently a big hype. Within Temptation did a great cover of that song. Perhaps a great time to check this cover out.
The next within temptation you can pick anything from the fence is the fantastic greatest concert D dvd ever in my opinion, BLACK SYMPHONY, AND If you want a song with power either pick the Full orchestral intro plus the 1st track or maybe picking "the howling", Or "our solemn hour"
Love that you get so emotional. I am just as you when music is really good.. Just keep on being you ! Please also check out BattleBeast. There you will find ure next valkyrie ..Noora with an exceptional modern Ann Wilson from Heart, metal voice.. And a band with very many both new and old gut kicking songs ! All the best from Stockholm Sweden John
Never been a lover of Tarja’s vocal style but she sounds great on this track. Sharon always sounds great and I love her voice. Others by WT to check out are ‘faster’ and ‘sinead’
WT Suggestions: Angels Official Video The Promise live 2002 Rock Werchter or 2008 Black Symphony The Purge Official Video The Truth Beneath the Rose 2008 Black Symphony Somewhere 2008 Black Symphony Edge of The World 2014 Amsterdam Mother Earth Official Video Ice Queen 2014 Elements
If you want a high-note taste of Sharon do the Somewhere Live-Duet with Annette van Giersbergen live with the Metropolitan Orchestra. Hands down one of the best live ballad performances I know.
No. 3 of the best Symphonic Metal Bands and with Sharon you have met the next fantastic vocalist. Another rabbit hole 😂. I am still hoping you will give EPICA another reaction. "Sancta Terra" with Floor was nice, but doesn't show their epicness at all. You also should check out Arjen Lucassen and two of his projects Ayreon and Star One. Ayreon for ex. "The day the World breaks down", Star One " Lost children of the universe". Trust me. 😊
Great reaction! Now you need to try another female fronted band, Beyond the black! Jennifer Haben formed the band. She writes a lot of the music, she can play around 6 different instruments, too. Try "Lost in forever" as a starter song, amazing!
You should check out their song "Iron", doesn't have as much vocal gymnastics & doesn't get as many reactions but it will always hold pride of place in my workout mix. It will get you going and make you want to go pickup heavy things. My favorite live version is their full performance video from Woodstock Poland. If you start at 28:41 you'll go right to Iron (or start at 24:41 and run the awesome double play of "And We Run" then "Iron").
“Angels” by Within Temptation is A MUST! “What have you done”, “I don’t wanna”, “faster”, “lost”, “The Promise”, “shot in the dark”. Too many to list here.
Hello again ! May I suggest you this band... You'll be probably be shock :) HEILUNG : - Anoana - You'll be probably be shock - their last title, released few days ago... I listen to this song, everyday, since ! - In Maidjan - live alcatraz ! :) greetings from Avignon - France
Literally everything from Within Temptation is perfect, and if you like this and Nightwish, I'd like to add Beyond The Black and Ad Infinitum for similar bands.
Some great Within Temption songs that also have really great videos imho : 1. Frozen (have heared that 100th of times, the video is however really dark but great) 2. Angels (also quite dark story) 3. And we run ft. XZibt (only song i really like where a rapper is involved) Then for Tarja and her stage performance, the whole "From Wishes to Eternity" concert is really great but i would especially say check out first : 🎼 Nightwish - Swanheart - From Wishes To Eternity 🎶 Remastered HD 🎶 Sorry, i no longer post links, TH-cam seems to hate that and just randomly delete posts with links, even from other TH-cam videos now, so you have to search yourself.
So here are my recommendations for Within Temptation, the basically ever-green song of this band you have to know is Ice Queen (live) either the Black X-Mas 2016 or Metropol Orchestra one. For the more recent songs i would point out Shed My Skin and The Reckoning. As for more Tarja: There is a song called Demos In You featuring Alissa White-Gluz (The Agonist / Arch Enemy). One special personal request: Van Canto maybe as a double feature for Nightwish's Wishmaster. I guarantee you Van Canto is unique in what they do and most likely you will fight between being impressed, confused and laughing your ass off if you hear them for the first time.
Great band with another incredible singer. Check out the live version of "Pale" to hear how good she really is th-cam.com/video/ljmI8xvBjZI/w-d-xo.html
hello, you are probably ready to listen to the first lady (in my heart) the one and unique Anneke Van Giersbergen first : a duet with within Temptation : somewhere (you'll be introduce to Anneke :p !) THE GATHERING , her former band, the songs live from their 25th live at Doornroosje : Waking Hours or Travel And few surprises Ayreon : Valley of the queen with November Doom : What could have been Greetings from Avignon
Well as you seem to like the Dutch metal ladies and bands (and I don't blame you one little bit) you may be interested in a small collab a 'few' of them did to support a fundraiser for the Red Cross i.c. sexual violence in conflict areas (full description is in the link to the video if you like to know more) This song never got the Love it deserved (because it is labeled metal), and I promiss, the problem are not the artists. It is the radiostation that did the fundraiser. Now to get you a bit exited here's a list of participants in the song. I need to drop another comment. Now.....until 14months I didn't know these BANDS existed like NIGHTWISH,SABATON,WITHIN TEMPTATION and more. I was an idiot and a bit of a snob to be honest because these BANDS are a bit SPECIAL. IMO there musicianship/vocals are second to none. WHY is this music not on main stream RADIO and across the world. If it wasn't for yourself or others in the reaction world I would not have known about these BANDS.
WT is my favorite band these days, and this song and vid is just one of 50 or more reasons why. That said, I do have a question/observation: Everything post apocalyptic, from Mad Max (pick one), to ...well this video, it seems we are inundated with 'steampunk' tech, at least in appearance. Is this a happy coincidence or a deliberate design concept?
Lake of tears is good as is Mustache. Not sure if they are both Swedish bands but definitely from the north either Scandinavian or northern European bands. Mustache sounds a lot like Black Sabbath but a different type of singer Down in black is a good starter for them as well. Lake of tears Black Brick Road would be a good starting point for them. Both considered black metal dark metal.
Lead singer Sharon Den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt formed the band in 1996, same year Nightwish started. But ,unlike Tarja, Sharon doesn't have extensive training. She is mostly self taught. My favorite WT song is Ice Queen.
Thank you so much for introducing me to the band with your comment, think I'll have to check out that live performance and that song next! 💯💯
I'm gonna have to correct you there, Sharon definitely does the operatic part of Paradise herself when Tarja is not available :)
I'll go with Angels, but early WT has no track to apologize for.
Martijn from Delain is Robert's brother and played keyboards with the first WT! Metal IS family!
@@GOTGames I'll second Chris on Ice Queen and it's like two songs. The metal version or the acoustic version.
This is a great band. You need to check out the MV for Angels .. it’s a great video and Sharon flexes her vocals good in that one. Or another good one is The Promise (live version ). Basically any song you pick by them will be good.
Ah thank you! Happy to check that out 💯🤘
@@GOTGames yes please do
“ the promise “ with the metropole Orchester
Wow this was so damn awesome!!
Tarja too, her skill and range continue to improve with every year and she writes, composes, and largely produces all of her own music. That said, I leave you a whole list of songs to take you through the different eras of these artists:
*Within Temptation*:
The Promise - live at Black Symphony concert
Somewhere - live at Black Symphony concert, duet with Anneke van Giersbergen
The Truth Beneath the Rose - live at Black Symphony concert
Faster - music video
Let Us Burn - live at Elements concert
The Whole World is Watching - music video, featuring Dave Pirner from Soul Asylum
Raise Your Banner - music video, featuring Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach
Entertain You - music video
The Purge - music video
Shed My Skin - music video from their live VR concert, featuring Annisokay
They also have a brand new single coming out next Friday called Don't Pray For Me (music video dropping July 13th) and it should be *epic*
*Tarja*:
Nemo - End of Era concert with Nightwish
Ever Dream - End of Era concert with Nightwish
She Is My Sin - From Wishes to Eternity with Nightwish
Victim of Ritual - live at Woodstock
Supremacy (Muse cover) - live at Milan
Diva - I think the best live version is "first time live," but there are also some good lyric videos. The one titled "Diva (with lyrics)" in particular really hits home that this song was a response to all the shit Nightwish put her through that resulted in a defamation case.
Until My Last Breath - Act II live in London
Sleeping Sun - originally a Nightwish song and there's a good performance from End of Era, but also a recent and very wonderfully unique FOLK cover that she performed with Steve N Seagulls
Also, Sharon has some incredible covers and solo work she's done.
Sharon has an amazing voice, an absolute Queen! Her voice blends so well with Tarja. My fav WT song is Angels, Sharon sounds just like the song name
They are a great band and Tarja with Sharon is such a great combo :)
💯💯💯
WT are a fantastic band. Sharon does indeed have a beautiful voice. Angels, Memories, Ice Queen, The Howling among many great songs of theirs to check out.
Can't wait to hear more 💯🤘
You need to check out "The Truth Beneath The Rose" live from their Black Symphony concert. There's a lot of songs from that concert worth checking out as they have a full orchestra backing them.
the entire Black Symphony concert is worth watching, it's so good! i can never get tired of listening to it
Happy to 💯
@@GOTGames black symphony within temptation live concert its awesome ¡¡¡¡
I absolutely love this song with Tarja, I also love the one live version too.
Totally agree with this, the fairy song i get that vibes is "Neverending story" with only her voice and piano behind and minimal arrangements. ❤️
Yesss more Within Temptation, and more Tarja!!! 💓💓 We love to see it!
💯💯💯🤘🤘🤘
Good Within Temptation songs to listen
- Stand my ground
-Ice Queen
- Somewhere (with Anneke v Giersbergen)
- What have you done
- Titanium
- Let us burn
basicly all their songs....
Maybe also "and we run" feat Xzibit or The Reckoning
😂 all it is!
My favourite album is still Mother Earth, but What Have You Done and Stand My Ground are my 2 favourite songs by WT.
Yessssssss🤟
Angels, Ice Queen & Mother Earth by Within Temptation are relly iconic but really anything by them is awesome !!!
beautiful songs for sure
Looking forward to checking out more 🤘💯💯
Within Temptation have a fantastic back catalogue - check out anything from Black Symphony for a great live performance
💯💯💯💯
Tarja and Sharon were the queens of symphonic metal.💙💙💙
Check out Epica and Leaves Eyes!
I went through a phase of female, symphonic metal, 15 years ago.
Within Temptation are awesome, live!
Yup, they were. Now it's Floor who has that spot. Hahahahahahaha
Oh definitely! And I bet they are Insane live!! 💯🤘
You should check out Tarja's solo career. Until My Last Breath, Never Enough or Dead Promises. Also more Epica - Consign to Oblivion please 😁
i'm gonna join everyone recommending their Black Symphony concert cause, really, it's perfect and Sharon sounds amazing live
sharon and tarja sounds so good together. thanx to great reaction and have wonderful weekend. last time i see live this song and band, band play video screen tarja part.
Awesome band!!! Amazing solo!!!
Great reaction, much love ❤🤟
❤️❤️❤️
Song is beautiful and a banger no doubt about it, Sharon Den Adel used to be my first queen (shhh don't tell anyone I don't want SuMetal get jealous 😅)
I know this band almost by the same time I met Nightwish with Tarja before leaving and they got so many good songs worth to watch such "Angels, Memories, Stand My Ground, Sinead, Faster, Dangerous, And We Run, Ice Queen, Mother Earth, Raise The Banner, Supernova" and many more.
Oh really??? Ah I love that! ❤️🤘
It's been a year already, it would be nice if you did Within Temptation again
TARJA❤❤❤❤❤❤
Try 'Rest Calm,' 'The Crow, the Owl, and the Dove,' or 'Turn Loose the Mermaids.'
For more Within Temptation, some of my personal favorites are: 'Aquarius,' 'Never-Ending Story,' 'Memories,' 'Stand My Ground,' and 'What Have You Done?' And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Sounds like a festival for BabyMetal to go there one day 😉🤘
Within temptation is a great studio album but they’re AMAZING live.
Greetings from Finland and thanks for your reaction 😁🎅
Subscribed 🤘 looking forward for more WT Reactions!!!
When Within Temptation performs this song live, they just simply bring out Tarja!
Also, I would recommend Ice Queen, the song that meant Within Temptation's breakthrough in the Netherlands.
Also, if you like Nightwish, I can definitely recommend a project called Ayreon, begin with the song The Day that the World Breaks Down
Check out Tarjas solo career. She has a great band with her. Check her Act 1 and 2 live concerts. Awesome !!
There are a few live versions of this when they are performing it together. For me the best version is live in Hellfest.
"The Purge" and "Shed my skin" are two of the newer songs by Within Temptation, which happen to be among my favourites in their catalogue.
Great reaction again
I'd love to see you do a reaction to the "Black Symphony" concert with Within Temptation
Greetings from Sweden
Within Temptation is awesome! "Mother earth" is one of their first songs and very much symphonic metal! A newer one to check out could be "The purge"
HIGHLY recommend Within Temptation - The Purge
Nightwish is my favorite band and Floor is my favorite female vocalist. Within Temptation is #2 and Sharon is my #2 favorite vocalist. This band has a ton of great songs. Outstanding live. Check out "And We Run" featuring Xzibit. "Dangerous" Featuring Howard Jones.
THANKS for some SHARJA !!!!!!
Check out the Hellfest performance , they really let TARJA cut loose and had much fun 🥰🥰💖💖
Best songs of WT imo : Stand my ground, Memories, Angels, Somewhere.
Will check them out! Thank you for the recommendations!
Faster is an another banger from WT
awesome! anything from the Black Symphony concert is great:-)
I saw them live years ago supporting Iron Maiden at Twickenham. I was captivated by them then, they are amazing
One the best Genre of Metal!! Symphonic Metal!
Wait till you hear Sharon's duet with Xzibit from the Pimp My Ride show ;) Ok, it sounds crazy, but it's actually incredible! =)
Omg Withn Temptatiom is my favorite band of all time!
More NIGHTWISH WITH TARJA PLS

"Running up that Hill" by Kate Bush made a phenomenal reappearance in the top-charts after almost 40 years due to the Netflix series "Stranger Things". The song is currently a big hype. Within Temptation did a great cover of that song. Perhaps a great time to check this cover out.
The next within temptation you can pick anything from the fence is the fantastic greatest concert D dvd ever in my opinion, BLACK SYMPHONY, AND If you want a song with power either pick the Full orchestral intro plus the 1st track or maybe picking "the howling", Or "our solemn hour"
Chris Stapleton. Tennessee whiskey, Say Something. So many Chris Stapleton songs you would love.
Floor Jansen, Simone Simons, Sharon Den Adel, & Anneke van Giersbergen, the four Dutch metal queens.
Should that not be five. What about Charlotte Wessels
WT Suggestions:
Angels Official Video
The Promise live 2002 Rock Werchter or 2008 Black Symphony
The Purge Official Video
The Truth Beneath the Rose 2008 Black Symphony
Somewhere 2008 Black Symphony
Edge of The World 2014 Amsterdam
Mother Earth Official Video
Ice Queen 2014 Elements
Trust me. 😊
Ahhhhh.. We didn't have to wait too long for you to get to the great Sharon and her new friend
i love this song
Love your reactions! You should check out Memories by Within Temptation…..
Memories and Angels made me fell in love with Sharon ❤️
What a great song! Another new band, I must be living under a rock. Really liked this! Great reaction as always!#Wafflegang ❤️
So I love it too.
Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation... Perfect triangle!
“Angels” by Within Temptation is A MUST! “What have you done”, “I don’t wanna”, “faster”, “lost”, “The Promise”, “shot in the dark”. Too many to list here.
Hello again !
May I suggest you this band... You'll be probably be shock :)
HEILUNG :
- Anoana - You'll be probably be shock - their last title, released few days ago... I listen to this song, everyday, since !
- In Maidjan - live alcatraz !
:)
greetings from Avignon - France
As an Aussie, who nearly gate-crashed the filming of the original Mad Max, I love the Mad Max feel to this video.... Tarja and Sharon? "Nuff said!
Literally everything from Within Temptation is perfect, and if you like this and Nightwish, I'd like to add Beyond The Black and Ad Infinitum for similar bands.
Some great Within Temption songs that also have really great videos imho :
1. Frozen (have heared that 100th of times, the video is however really dark but great)
2. Angels (also quite dark story)
3. And we run ft. XZibt (only song i really like where a rapper is involved)
Then for Tarja and her stage performance, the whole "From Wishes to Eternity" concert is really great but i would especially say check out first :
🎼 Nightwish - Swanheart - From Wishes To Eternity 🎶 Remastered HD 🎶
Sorry, i no longer post links, TH-cam seems to hate that and just randomly delete posts with links, even from other TH-cam videos now, so you have to search yourself.
This is a top notch video
💯
Finally you found them you can also check out beyond me that's floor and Sharon together
Sharon den Adel sings opera on their songs too... ;)
One special personal request:
Van Canto maybe as a double feature for Nightwish's Wishmaster. I guarantee you Van Canto is unique in what they do and most likely you will fight between being impressed, confused and laughing your ass off if you hear them for the first time.
Check Nightwish with Tarja as well :)
Please don't ignore TARJA'S vast brilliant diverse solo career 9 studio 5 live albums and much more !!!!
💖💖🥰🥰
Great band with another incredible singer. Check out the live version of "Pale" to hear how good she really is

Happy to 🤘
wow, no one ever does that one:-)
hello,
you are probably ready to listen to the first lady (in my heart) the one and unique Anneke Van Giersbergen
first : a duet with within Temptation : somewhere (you'll be introduce to Anneke :p !)
THE GATHERING , her former band, the songs live from their 25th live at Doornroosje : Waking Hours or Travel
And few surprises
Ayreon : Valley of the queen
with November Doom : What could have been
Greetings from Avignon
i second that. all of them :D
Happy to! Let's go 🤘
Love it,❤️🙏🥂🌷
Now you must do The Promise from WT's Black Symphony show. 🤘
Well as you seem to like the Dutch metal ladies and bands (and I don't blame you one little bit) you may be interested in a small collab a 'few' of them did to support a fundraiser for the Red Cross i.c. sexual violence in conflict areas (full description is in the link to the video if you like to know more)
This song never got the Love it deserved (because it is labeled metal), and I promiss, the problem are not the artists. It is the radiostation that did the fundraiser.
Now to get you a bit exited here's a list of participants in the song.

Pretty much anything from WT Black Symphony live what be great for you to react to
💯💯💯💯❤️
I need to drop another comment.
Now.....until 14months I didn't know these BANDS existed like NIGHTWISH,SABATON,WITHIN TEMPTATION and more. I was an idiot and a bit of a snob to be honest because these BANDS are a bit SPECIAL. IMO there musicianship/vocals are second to none. WHY is this music not on main stream RADIO and across the world. If it wasn't for yourself or others in the reaction world I would not have known about these BANDS.
Next you need to check out Vandroya. Or maybe Beyond the Black. They both rock.
The best version of a live version is Masters of Rock 2019.
Sharon and Famke (Jean) do share some similar features, must be the Dutch blood xD.
If you want to hear Sharon's voice at its best, check out Angels by Within Temptation, it will blow you away
Totally check out Tarjas cover of Supremacy by Muse!!
Incluindo Supremacy Tarja turunen woodstock live. Muito bom.
