We have huge amounts of land and our population is spread out. Chargers are rare to nonexistent once you get out of cities or off the highway network. Gas stations are everywhere. Electric cars are fine if you have a garage to plug in in every night. Millions of Americans have communal parking lots or street parking. Millions more need more capability than an EV can offer. EVs are commuter cars for rich people. The rest of us don't want EVs, we want the capability and convenience of gas and diesel. My gas truck can be refueled fully in less than five minutes in any town. It has more range than any EV. Towing or cold weather doesn't cut its range in half.

It is true that here in Europe distances are a lot shorter and gaz/electric stations everywhere. The Netherlands is so overpopulated that we long for cleaner air and less noise and therefor prefer electric cars. After your explanation, I can understand now where you come from.
