What a completely enjoyable vidoe! One of my favorite videos ever! I compose and work with scrap wood, but this maker is a very high quality craftsman. You can tell by the way he uses the chisel with such skill and confidence. I think the look on his face after the couple expresses frustration that his fine work is wated on them.
Merci beaucoup pour votre travail! ça a fait ma soirée.
God gave us trees and metals, but when Klaus Fahlbusch puts them together, I cry for the joy of how he makes the world beautiful!
Hes's not klaus Fahlbusch, hes Tilman Muthesius
Now.. I can understand what putting human's heart and soul into an instrument is....
Fantastic beyond belief!!!! amazing how light the construction.. I love when you flex the instrument at 2:05 amazing!!!! no corner blocks, and the top doesn't look like spruce!!
Consider, for an instance the richness of tone. The overall extension from high to low, this my friends.. this is an instrument not of the past but of the future. This is the pride of Europe, along with many others. I enjoy this video highly. If I may suggest making more of these? With the music of the instrument overlaying the manufacture?
LOL. The ending was silly.
Danke
great craftsmanship!
Bit of a surprise to see the neck not being carved until after it was attached to the body!
Beautiful!
Superb craftsmanship
MASTER!! GRAND GURÚ!!!
The (excerpt) baroque guitar piece at end is a Pavane composed by Gasper Sanz.
Merci.
Sorry, I will try in english : Very beautiful work. Surprising in that it does not incorporate "block corners" to build and inforce these. But apparently, they are not needed, on the contrary of "rules" of centuries of tradition. And the sound is remarquable. Thanks
beautiful video!
Sweet build
Very interesting video, thank you. I like viola da gamba very much.
What kind of wood is it ? Cedar ?
I´m with you it looks like Spanish cedar to me too. Cederla odorata.
Excellent.
I wish you'd included offering the bill and having it paid! The story is never complete until the bill's paid.
Thanks
Lutes have really functional-looking peg boxes whereas viole da gambe have curved ones with decorative carvings, yet both date to a similar period. I wonder why one was decorated and the other not.
there are sime instances, where the lute's pegbox is higly ornated (inlays, or wine like motives) but the tension of the strings and the way of playing decides on how the pegbox will look.
Hello I wonder what is the second piece? beautiful video!
it is an anonym 18th century transcription of A.Corelli violin sonata....
A transcription of Corelli's 11th Violin Sonata, movement 2
that scroll is cool
I would very much like to do this someday
What is the name of that beautiful backgroung music?
J'aimerais bien savoir !
Erratum,
Remplaçons épicea par épicerie !
Nice dog
Como eu faço para estudar com você?
Quero aprender a construir instrumentos musicais.
What was the purpose of those pieces of cloth on the gamba top at 3:00?
Abraham Wu I think it is to put the wood together while the glue dries.
Abraham Wu seems like glass fiber to reinforce the joints
They're historical. It's just cloth for structural reinforcement without weighing the instrument down.
Historical instruments are typically a lot lighter and have a lot less pressure on the strings because of it. Makes it sound warmer, but with a bit less projection.
Linen fabric. The hide glue dries to a crystalline hardness. This was also used on harpsichord soundboards in the backs of lutes
Why are the two people dressed up?
Time travel, or cos play.
thats the queen and her foot servant😅😆
Royalty on a buying spree. They came to inspect the latest Viol da Gamba and made the purchase.
I wonder if they paid the full price or did they quibble for discount.
@@janviljoen7001: I wondered if they had paid at all, or if, at best, they'd left an IOU.
@@resourcedragon lou I'm sure.

Danke sehr!
Does a gamba have a soundpost?
---
Hat eine Gambe einen Stimmstock?
Before 1600 seldom, after 1600 - yes!
Hello. Is the body in mahogany?
the sides surely are from oak because they're similar to cumaru, a South American wood, and both woods are Fagalesean plants
@@SYLVESTRIVS Cedrela odorata?
@@mikehenley3114 yes
I bet this took weeks to flim
I’m surprised that the top is not made from spruce

Soundpost on a viola da gamba? is that historical?
as far as we know soundposts are in use since second half of 16th century!
I find it unusual too..
gambe

Not funny, didn‘t laugh
what is the name of the lute music at the end?
