In this clip with Gunner, Clayton uses some creative horsemanship to introduce a change of eye line and something a little different to this big 3 year old gelding. With any activity preparation matters. Gunner has been prepared for this exercise with previous ground work.
Prepare for everything so you’re ready for anything is one of Price Horsemanship’s favorite mottos. That requires thinking outside the box to come up with scenarios that mirror the pressures of real life situations.
Watch Gunner’s body language, specifically his mouth. You may also note the change and softening of his response the third time Clayton asks him to back up. Big change resulting from the standing work transferring to the kneeling work.
Gunner is 3 going 4 this year. He had come off a bucking horse ranch in Utah when Clayton was contacted to start him as a 2 year old. Gunner stands roughly 16.1.
🙉 Our crazy old dog Charlie makes a vocal cameo toward the end. Apparently we were sitting a little too near the treat jar in the recording studio (aka our kitchen) today.
