Finish dozer guy here. Operating since 1985. Started on an old JD 450...In my opinion after running the new stuff the Komatsu fulling integrated GPS Dozers are the best as far as operator friendliest and comfort for sun up to sun down days. They also seem to hold up on track and undercarriage wear. My first time on a new D-39 was on a house plat we built I couldn't believe how smooth it turned and held the desired turn rate as i cut for curb and gutter...I got to finish it all in those days no GPS...the ponds turned out sweet as it was the the best for slope work as well...Cat is good, but can't compare on balance when free hand work is needed...and it always is...
Thanks for watching and for commenting, we always love to hear feedback like this. Operating the D39 is truly a wonderful experience. Smooth, powerful, lightning-fast hydraulics and great on fuel. That said, the others all have their strengths too and are also great to operate.
I have to agree with you..I have done alot of heavy sloping & building rock dams with blast rock in mines "camp work".. Road construction etc to having to do finishing work as well..Operating Cat d4,d5,d6,d7,d8 & d9.. h,k,n,r,& t, etc etc..Deere 750k,850k..Dresser td 20 & 25b,c,e & g..Komatsu d61,d65,d68,d85 & d155..For me,I personally prefer Komatsu for all scopes of dirt work..I have my personal reasons for preferring Komatsu, too many to list..That being said,I don't complain anymore😂 with whichever seat I'm in..
Our apologies for missing this post, we generally try and respond as quickly as possible but somehow missed your comment. We definitely agree - Komatsu makes a fantastic machine but operating any of them nowadays is pretty darn nice! It's not like the old days where one or two were far superior. Now they all make very nice machines to operate. Thanks for watching and for commenting and stay safe out there!
Thanks for watching and for commenting. We agree those are amazing machines as well! Komatsu as well as all the others are making high-quality machines - the best we've had the privilege to operate. I am very thankful they have come as far as they have. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
My Uncle years ago had 2 komatsu dozers one was a huge tracked loader I believe it was a D155 S and a very large D355a push dozer I remember as a young boy sitting on his lap in the D 355 dozer going around his farm in NJ then when I was older I would operate it around the back end of his farm he would always tell me to stay away from the buildings 😂 😂 😂 he did own a D9H Cat dozer he always said the komatsu would out rip and out push the Cats
Just bought a d-39 and love it. And have over 20.000 hours running this size dozer. Have owned 3 case 850s and cat d4 also 3 different john deer. IAM 59 year's old and still self employed. Buying the Kamotsu is the best decision I made. Thanks for the video. T-K WA state
Thanks for watching and for your comments. We always love to hear feedback like this from our viewers. They all make great machines but from what we could see is available from all manufacturers, Komatsu offers the most at this point in time. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
Most machines from major manufacturers will do a pretty good job- for smaller operations, serviceability and support from a local dealer after the sale may be more important than who manufactured it. Definitely something to consider.
Thanks for watching and for commenting. Couldn’t agree more - all the modern manufacturers offer great products and do most things well. Some better in some areas but all very close. Dealer support and warranty would be priority for sure. At the end of the day go with what you like the best and who gives you the best service.
Nice vid. I retired in 2016. The best largest dozer ever built is a D11R 7pz series Cat. Hands down. After 20,000 hrs on a D11R, I think I'm qualified to say that..The d11t is junk imo. My experience on small dozers is all on older stuff. I liked the komatsu d41, d65 & p61. Very quiet. Comfy. Good dozers. I built alot of DEP ponds & roads with those komatsu. They would hold a steep bank a cat would roll on. D2,d4, d6 hydrostats, they get the job done, but the cat hydro stat is a pita. It either works or it dont. The d6 hydro stat GPS was ok. Not my favorite. My favorite small Cat is a D6R. Very reliable, powerful, & trouble free. My favorite personal small dozers for small fine grading was, and is, a 450 case. We have (2) 450 Bs. Old yes, but still very good. They're both Cummins power, so actually over powered & you dont want a newb on them. A newb could tear them up. They are also pretty easy to work on, when you rarely have to do a fix. They're built very well. I'm sure these new ones are probably really something fancy, but I never needed fancy on a dozer. I like my dozers with power & reliability. Cat R models & old cases have both. Thanks for the video. 😊😊
Thanks for watching and for commenting, we always love feedback from our viewers - especially when they take the time to tell us their experiences and preferences. I personally have never had the opportunity to operate a D11 but I bet they're quite the machine! The "R" series was a great version of Cat all the way around. Great power, great reliability and great comfort. From the 6 to the 10's which I have operated, enjoyed them all. We put John Deere 36" pads on a Case 350 one time and that little guy would almost walk on water! Incredible for soft ground. We're glad you enjoyed the video and happy you shared your comments. Have fun and stay safe out there!
Could you clarify the Komatsu Tech, do they use TopCon or have their own GPS system to measure stockpiled material. Have you compared the CAT Earthworks system when comparing different manufacturers equipment.
Thanks for watching & thanks for the great question. From what we can find researching, Komatsu's software is something they can program into Top Con or Trimble. Maybe one of our viewers could speak more regarding this? We certainly don't want to give out false information.
Thank you for watching and for commenting! We always appreciate our viewers feedback and support. We’re glad we can get the right information out to our viewers and help them. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
Thanks for watching and for commenting. The great thing about all the manufacturers making great machines is there’s generally something for everyone. The best part is we get to choose what we would buy for ourselves. Deere definitely makes a great machine and is always in the conversation. Thanks again for your comments and for watching. Stay safe out there!
Thank you for watching and for commenting. We always love to hear from our viewers! We enjoy making this content and sharing with all of you. Stay safe out there!
Thanks for watching and for commenting - we always appreciate feedback from our viewers. It’s definitely something we’d like to do a special series on for sure but we also want to share as much about all trades as we can. There’s so many great opportunities out there for younger (and older for that matter) people out there we want to give as much information as we can. Thanks again for watching and for your thoughts. Take care out there.
My 57 JD 420c has no software of any kind. lol The first two hoses to start leaking on my Komatsu PC 75uu-2 just got replaced, and its a late 90s machine. Komatsu for the win!
Thanks for watching and for commenting. Komatsu definitely makes a good machine! We're always happy to hear from our viewers and their choices/preferences. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
Good video with lots of info. I'll be purchasing a small dozer in a couple of months, along with a large dozer, backhoe, skid steer and some other equipment. This will be in Ecuador and a few hundred miles from any dealer. I'll probably negotiate the best price with one dealer rather than trying to get a piece of equipment from 2 or 3 dealers. Any advice? I've used Cat and Komatsu and years ago with JD. My preference, based on durability is Cat. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching and the great questions! I think the best advice we could give is who has the best dealer support near you? They all make pretty great machines anymore - some stronger than others in certain areas. The problem we all face is who will be able to fix or repair the best and most responsive around you. When you see other contractors with equipment near you, see if you can ask them what kind of service they get from the dealer being that far away. If you hear good things about one particular brand vs another, I would personally recommend going with who will offer you the best service. We hope that helps and if you have any other questions please feel free to reach out again. Good luck in your future endeavours! It’s always good to hear new people getting into it.
Thank you! Sometimes we feel we’re not doing the right things but viewers like you let us know we’re on the right path. Thanks for watching and for commenting - take care out there!
The only thing I find wrong with Kamatsu is that it seems to be a little week pushing a heavy load with the blade. They lack behind in power to the tracks but do everything else well.
Thanks for watching and for commenting, we always appreciate feedback from our viewers. With the larger Komatsu dozers we would have to agree with that. These small Komatsu dozers however (in our experience) seem to be more powerful than most. That being said might have just been lucky to operate ones that were set up that way from factory too. Thanks again for your feedback and take care out there.
Thanks for watching and for commenting. While we all have different experiences with different brands, those have been ours. That doesn’t negate the fact we did recommend the Komatsu as the number one choice. They make a fantastic machine! Take care out there and thanks again for commenting.
@@SoGoWoWo Dont get me wrong , I prefer the cat, but as someone who oversees 50-60 smaller dozers made up of all 3 of these brand, my numbers show John Deere with the worst reliability. Often related to metal fatigue or the wiring harness. New Cats its the track pins. Komatsu wiring ,sensors or def. of course ymmv
Really?! Well that is good to know. I haven’t had that many to work with but the ones I did were quite good. That said I never had one long term so that’s interesting. It’s always a pleasure hearing from our viewers because we learn interesting things like this. I too like the Cat, but I also like the Komatsu and John Deere. Dependability is definitely at the top though for both owners and operators so I’m quite certain other viewers will like to know these things as well. Thanks for the feedback - we very much appreciate it!
Computer screen up on the dash is absolutely the best place to have it. Looking down between your knees or at your feet to look at a screen all day long sucks. Besides you can’t read numbers or text as well and when they are put down below. The sunlight is on it a lot more when it’s down low and it gets washed out so bad you can’t see anything on the screen. Next time you drive your car try looking at your feet vs the windshield .
Thanks for watching and for commenting. We always appreciate feedback from our viewers. Every one of us has different preferences for sure. I personally like the screen in the dash - directly below the front window - much like the caterpillar or our vehicles. Maybe just used to that too. Thanks again for your feedback and stay safe out there!
Thanks for watching and for commenting we're always happy to hear our viewers preferences and experiences with each brand. Some have had great luck with certain brands and some not so much. They are all nicer machines to operate now than ever before but sometimes quality or longevity suffers too. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
Thanks for watching and for commenting. Those were great dozers and still are. All these brands make excellent machines. This was only our opinion, what we researched and found had the most bang for the buck sort of speak. Thanks again for your feedback and stay safe out there!
Thanks for watching and for commenting. We always love to hear feedback from our viewers. Komatsu definitely makes a great machine. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
I wouldt even consider anything other then a cat from an owner standpoint. John deere can keep there software and their rebranded garbage coming from mexico and asia. Komatsu might be a good machine but no manufacturer will keep your equipment working like cat does. By far the longest lasting and almost any part available tomorrow. I have a d5k2 and it is an amazing machine. Definitely more comfortable then any of the deeres ive been in
Thanks for watching and for commenting. We always love to hear our viewers feedback, thoughts and experiences. There's no doubt Cat makes a great machine and have dealerships in a lot of places. It's also nice to hear you've had good experiences with your dealership with parts and service - also a very important part in making decisions like this nowadays. Thanks again for watching and for sharing your thoughts and experiences - stay safe out there!
Is there some bloat in small dozers? I was expecting something somewhere around 8,000 to 12,000 lbs (something that can be towed behind a pickup). Has that class been taken over by the skid steer track loaders?
Thanks for watching and for the question. To answer in general - yes the skid steer track loaders have pretty much taken over that segment. Komatsu, Cat, John Deere etc all have smallest starting at around 17000 lbs mark now. We will hopefully be a comparison of the skid steer machines in the near future.
Also, this D3 isn't the old small D3. The old D3 has been relabeled a D1. The reviewed D3 in this video is closer to the previous model D5 before CAT renumbered their dozer line.
thanks for watching and for commenting. The TD's are great machines as well but they are just not as common in the North American market. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
Thanks for watching and for commenting. Cat makes beautiful machines no doubt. This is an overall comparison for everything involved in the purchase of a new machine as an owner. As an operator - they’re hard to beat. Thanks again for your input and stay safe out there!
@@SoGoWoWo Yes sir I completely understand your view points as an owner and I have run a Komatsu and find them to be very nice as well. I just find Cats comfort and ease of operation the tech onboard to be much better for the operator.
Cat really is in the top for operator comfort no doubt. It feels like they spend a bit more time worrying about operator comfort than some other brands for sure. From sitting angled in the larger dozers to tiller steering, the operator experiences less stress during a work shift. Thanks again for your input and we always love to hear feedback from our viewers.
Maybe it's my earbuds but the lead in music was way loud compared to speaking volume. Otherwise thank you. I am going to purchase a minotaur soon but am a Cat fan so torn. I would like to keep the fleet the same for parts commonality. Thank you.
Apologies for the music - sometimes it comes on strong on different devices. Yes - I’d love to do a review on the Minotaur! I think they’ll be a game changer in that class for sure! The case has come a long way and is a great choice as well. I don’t think you’d be unhappy with a Case dozer either if you went that way. The Cat’s of course are always nice machines too. There’s too many good choices anymore! Lol Good luck in your search and thanks for watching and commenting!
Our apologies for missing this comment - we always try and reply as soon as we can. Thanks for watching and for commenting. Also thanks for the info - I had a feeling they would function very well. I truly believe the Minotaur will be a game-changer in this class of machines. It's the best of both worlds and as long as it functions the way it should in each class, I can see other manufacturers heading this way for sure! Thanks again and again we apologize for missing this comment.
we paid pretty cheap price on a komatsu wa270 used with 1100 hours with bucket,forks,23 foot hla blade for $48,000 wichj was pretty cheap affordable loader @@SoGoWoWo
The older d4 high track from the late 80s and mid 90s the K are great machines looking at from a grading small rock on the sprocket for wear the high track not as much on the sprocket crushing the smaller stuff just as must wear as the big stuff rocks not bigger dozers. The 3/4 rock gets in-between the sprocket and the drive chain hard on both the high track the idel wheel being smooth pops it out most of the time in stead of the sprocket grabing and pulling it in still both work changing sprocket teeth a bit easier on the high track not breaking the track apart in the feild changing pads that's 4 bolts compared to breaking a track apart in the feild by yourself. Some say unfriendly to the environment but also the high track used for Forrest fires keeping the drive up high for temp and such
Thanks for watching and for commenting. Everyone has their favorites for sure and we certainly won't tell you what should be yours! Thanks again and stay safe out there!
Very true! We very much enjoy discussing heavy equipment as well. Those were great machines and the high drive has proven to be very advantageous in many areas. I personally spent many thousands of hours on a D6M with steering clutches (rather than the electric at the time steering clutches) and have fond memories of it. With the improved cooling and power - they were a welcome change to the 5H. Personally what I love about all these new machines is the speed of the hydraulics. They are just so fast!
thanks for watching and for commenting. We always appreciate hearing from our viewers and their preferences. JD makes a great machine no doubt! Thanks again and stay safe out there!
Thanks for watching and for commenting. Both those companies make great machines no doubt. We certainly won’t tell you what to buy, we just wanted everyone to know what’s available from each manufacturer. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Take care out there!
Thanks for watching and for commenting! We looked at the Dressers but they were a bit behind on technology. The machines themselves I have no doubt are great machines. We were just looking for the total package. Thanks again for your opinion and your thoughts - we always love to hear from our viewers! Take care out there.
For the time period in the79s,80s and early 90s the international/dresser had them all beat, especially Trans and steering. They were great! I now have a next gen cat d3 and recently had case 750m. I did review on both
Thanks for watching and commenting! That’s very cool - I have ran some old model Dressers and you’re right, they’re a great old machine. Which one do you prefer now?
@SoGoWoWo I currently own a new cat d3, I had a case 750m and komatsu d39 before it, all good machines, I bought cat because of the slope assist grade control komatsu did not offer and they were more expensive. Cat gave me best price over anyone else right up front. It also has alot of other features, too many to list, but a couple are 7 bottom rollers instead of 6, a massive final drive system, and stable blade control, you should look that up if your not familiar. To date it is my favorite dozer I've ever been on. I've owned it for about 18 mos.
That’s awesome - I’m glad to hear about the Cat. I e always been a fan of Cat but sometimes the smaller dozers weren’t the greatest so it’s good to hear they e brought their game up. And they’re competitively priced too so even better! Thanks again for your comments and information - enjoy your Cat!
Thanks for watching and for commenting. We by no means think Cat is bad - it was an overall comparison of all things available for the same price. Caterpillar makes a great machine and we love to hear from our viewers what their favourite is. Thanks again and take care out there.
Thanks for watching and for commenting, we always love to hear from our viewers. The D39 is a great machine no doubt and has many great features and positive attributes and with the added software it's an excellent value as well. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
Thanks for watching and for commenting. Also thanks for the enthusiasm! We agree, cat makes a great product as well. It’s good to see such passion in your comments. Thanks again and take care out there.
Always been a cat fan for their dozers and excavators. Not huge on their general contractor use equipment (skid steers and mini excavators etc.) they proved they were the best for the military and semi engines and they’re the only dozer I’ll use for my projects. I’ve ran cat on my farm and CNH, Deere, and Komotsu for work but I have my preference based on control layouts, engine patterns, low end power, and maintenance/repair expenses. I love CNH ag equipment but I’m not to impressed with their construction equipment lately. I’m looking into a nasty c18 build for the equipment hauler semi when the Cummins gives up
Thanks for watching and for sharing your sense of humour. We always enjoy when our viewers see life isn’t to be taken too seriously all the time. Thanks again and stay safe out there!

Thanks again for watching and take care out there.
I absolutely hate the small dozers from cat. Very uncomfortable. Don’t like there cab lay out. I would take any other small dozer over the cat. All the high track cat dozers area awesome
Thanks for watching and for commenting. We always love hearing from our viewers and what they prefer. The great thing about having so many manufacturers is being able to find the right fit for each individual. I definitely agree about the high drives being awesome. I also love many small dozers as well but some do not fit as well as others for sure.

While we always appreciate comments from our viewers all over the world - job placement is something we just don’t do. Thanks for watching and good luck out there!
NOT a good video, because editing with quick skips while showing your face, is very annoying. And you need to show less of you speaking, and way more of the equipment in motion.....

I dont agree with that at all. Push power and torque is what they do best,
Thanks for watching and for commenting.
1) Komatsu, 2) Cat, 3) Deere, 4) Case.
Thanks for watching and for commenting we're always happy to hear our viewers preferences and experiences with each brand. Some have had great luck with certain brands and some not so much. They are all nicer machines to operate now than ever before but sometimes quality or longevity suffers too. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
Goin back to the 1970-80's, the 450 case and JD's was fine dozers for their size..
Thanks for watching and for commenting. Those were great dozers and still are. All these brands make excellent machines. This was only our opinion, what we researched and found had the most bang for the buck sort of speak. Thanks again for your feedback and stay safe out there!
From my experience it is Komatsu
The reviewed D3 in this video is closer to the previous model D5 before CAT renumbered their dozer line.
cat d4 d3 just japan products i always liked ih td8 when they were made
thanks for watching and for commenting. The TD's are great machines as well but they are just not as common in the North American market. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
D 65e komatsu is what i have.old but runs like a champ
Thanks for watching and for commenting. Yes, those were good old dozers for sure. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
The Cat for the win especially the newer cats. They are much more comfortable and the information the operator sees I. The cab is much easier to see.
The Minotaur is outstanding. Just got mine delivered. Easier to run than what has been posted on YT.
Thanks again and again we apologize for missing this comment.
case and komatsu are the best
Thanks for watching and for commenting. They do make great machines both Case and Komatsu. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
we paid pretty cheap price on a komatsu wa270 used with 1100 hours with bucket,forks,23 foot hla blade for $48,000 wichj was pretty cheap affordable loader @@SoGoWoWo
@@SoGoWoWo just tractor talk like cars and trucks not all nerds are computers and 5rings
Thanks
Your very welcome! Thanks for watching and for commenting. Take care out there.
JD all the way
thanks for watching and for commenting. We always appreciate hearing from our viewers and their preferences. JD makes a great machine no doubt! Thanks again and stay safe out there!
John Deere cat are American made that's all I would buy they cost more but they will hold up longer. Have operated all sizes.
Thanks for watching and for commenting. Both those companies make great machines no doubt. We certainly won’t tell you what to buy, we just wanted everyone to know what’s available from each manufacturer.
Thanks again for watching and commenting. Take care out there!
Case is made in US
The best best small dozer I operated is dresser td7e too me better than cat d3 an john deere 450e but the dresser had a Cummings engine,,
Thanks for watching and for commenting!
My pick is cat
Thanks for watching and for commenting. We by no means think Cat is bad - it was an overall comparison of all things available for the same price. Caterpillar makes a great machine and we love to hear from our viewers what their favourite is.
Thanks again and take care out there.
Komatsu d39 way better I terms of fuel consumption, serviceability, productivity...just ask any experienced operators and they'll tell you
Thanks for watching and for commenting, we always love to hear from our viewers. The D39 is a great machine no doubt and has many great features and positive attributes and with the added software it's an excellent value as well. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
It's absolutely caterpillar and always will be caterpillar the others are good to but cat is king
Thanks for watching and for commenting. Also thanks for the enthusiasm! We agree, cat makes a great product as well.
It’s good to see such passion in your comments. Thanks again and take care out there.
Don't be narrow-minded like a monsoon is a lot better machine than a caterpillar hands down
Cat is amazing but over 20 years experience cat can't touch it. Love em but not a chance
I’m looking into a nasty c18 build for the equipment hauler semi when the Cummins gives up
Cat all the way. The real comparison would be to find some 10k+ hour machines and then you would lose 3 of the 4 competitors.
Na magnatrack rules blows them all away
Thanks for watching and for sharing your sense of humour. We always enjoy when our viewers see life isn’t to be taken too seriously all the time. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
Glad u liked that 😂
You lost me at John Deere breaking down less than the Komatsu and Cat.
Thanks for watching and for commenting. We always appreciate feedback from our viewers. We have all had different experiences with different brands and yours is probably completely different than ours. It’s really any of us can do is give advice based on our own experience. Thanks again for watching and take care out there.
too much of looking at you and none of the machine
Thanks for watching and for your comments. Stay safe out there.
Thanks for the warning, skimmed through and yeah ill pass.
Case is it,hands down,,cat sucks,JD 2nd,perikd,55yrs exper!!!!
Thanks for watching and for commenting. We always appreciate feedback and love to see passion from our viewers! Case does make a great machine as well no doubt. Keep safe out there!
at one time cat was good but now just made to sell

Komatsu best dozers and I would say Kobelco for best excavator.
Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting! We always love hearing from our viewers and their favorites. There are a lot of truly great machines out there now to choose from and Komatsu and Kobelco are definitely up there. Thanks again and take care out there.
No way Deer an Hitachi Ex are best, 18 years an still going!!! Nothing I Repeat nothin is as Good As Deer
@@carlyrutland1372 Thanks for commenting - we always appreciate comments and always love to see such passion from our viewers! We definitely agree John Deere & Hitachi make great equipment. Thanks again for watching & commenting. Take care out there.
Komatsu, eh? Hmm.
By comparing all the data including price, service, warranty & technology it’s just what we believe to be the best option. Everyone is certainly welcome to choose any brand they like. We hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching and commenting. We always like to hear from our viewers.
Case= can’t attempt serious excavation.

NOT a good video, because editing with quick skips while showing your face, is very annoying. And you need to show less of you speaking, and way more of the equipment in motion.....
