Brave Girls performed for the Korean army a lot, in 2021 a video of them doing the Rolling song with the army chanting the chorus went viral. That is why it suddenly popular 4 years later, saved them from disbandment. I remember you talking once about wondering how many people listen to a song vs how many streams/view it had. Melon has a unique listeners which is pretty much that, the channel has some charts on unique listeners that are a bit shorter if fancy reacting to those. Know for sure there is a top 75 SM, and a Top 50 YG.

The military is usually the best place to get the loudest fan chants. A large number of men, some still entering puberty seeing a group of beautiful women after months of hard training among other men can produce a very funny stage environment.

Btw brave girls-rollin went viral even though it was released years ago, they sadly missed the opportunity to win big awards cause of the criteria in release dates. But it’s so nice to see how their peak was after a decade of debuting in the industry.
Just want to mention that the name Brave Girls is that old, but the lineup that did Rollin isn’t.

I agree - I think this took the kpop groups mostly and ranked them after. It probably left out many songs. Edit - yeah they noticed in the reaction and noted when it was actually number 1. I hope like Efra said they can do a Top 10 overall

For your information:v, the video chart that you watch doesn't fully describe the top 10 most popular songs each year overall in Korea. which in the video only shows kpop idol group/sub unit songs, solo idols or etc. because of the fact that ballads from several soloists and even trot singers always dominate the most popular songs every year because they are the most loved by the public. In short, in 2021, there will be IU with Celebrity, BG Rollin, IU Lilac, Aespa Next Level & BTS Butter. even in 2013-until now the songs that attract attention and are popular every year are still songs with the ballad, ost, trot genre, and several kpop group/solo idol songs. & some example artist in korea always top in top song peryear like buskerbusker, akmu, iu, heize, zico, yoonmirae,beo,loco, & many mores i forget all name the artist.
They've already mentioned in the video that they probably can do another reaction but with overall top 10.

Brave girls Rollin' became so popular when a video copilation of their stages (+comments of their videos) in the military became viral. In the video you can see the sodiers screaming their lungs out to Rollin and it's amazing and hilarious. The group never really blew up when they debuted but they still kept visitng military bases and performing their songs.
The group was practically revivied by that video and it's charting quite well until now. Also they are participating in the show Queendom 2 if you want to check that out. One thing you gotta know about Spring Day: ever since it entered the charts (in early 2017) it never left the charts, it's still up there now too after 5 years! It's called "The Queen" for a reason!
I am an international fan but in 2019 my most listened songs were Four Seasons by Taeyeon and Gotta Go by Chungha, that was a good year for female soloist!

Sipring day is probably the most successful song ever released in Korea by anybody!!! It has the most streams, the most unique listeners and has never left the Melon charts since it's release in feb 2017. Ever yr during the spring season the song rises up the charts massively ,also whenever BTS has a comeback,the song rises up the charts too so now it a running joke that queen spring day doesn't allow any other BTS song to take the the throne.
Brave Girls had an EXID situation where an old release got resurfaced on the internet and BLEW UP and went extremely viral (hence their 2017 track being the #1 song in 2021)
Both instances resurrected and saved both groups from disbandment
You're not fully right, up&down blew up the same year it was released and at that time was their latest comeback.

From what I know, IU have an entry in Melon year end chart last year. She even have 3 songs. That is why she even joined Bigbang as the only artists who ever have a 3 songs in the year end chart.

That's because the video only counts kpop groups and soloist that comes from them. And since IU debuted as soloist and not in a group she is not in the video.

Hahaha. You were confused about Crayon Pop's Bar Bar Bar. That song went viral that year. It was massive. If you want to understand why, think of what happened with What does the fox say song. It has similar reasons why it got popular.
Brave Girls had a rough career. They debut in 2011, they had a lineup changes in 2015 after 2 years and a half of hiatus (they start as 5, continue as 7 with only 2 of the original member, and now they are 4). They were preparing to disband and leave the industry when they got popular in 2020 after a video of soldiers cheering for them when they perform at a military camp got viral. Now they are still popular and enjoying every chance they got to stay in the industry.
2009 was really the start of GG domination, mid 2010-2011 was T-ara's golden era then 2012, they became a lesson for the newer generation of idols and fans which until now we don't seem to learn.
I know in general girl group songs chart better in korea than boygroups but damn I didn't know they were dominating the charts like that
Melon is the most accurate popular indicator in Korea. TH-cam is a number of fans, but Melon expresses the popularity of actually listening to music in Korea
Thanks for checking this out - you can see how some of the artists that didn't turn up in the most viewed MVs are also here and you can get a better indication of which groups are also very popular domestically as well as internationally esp. Mamamoo specifically earlier years, Sistar, Apink, Winner, Block B etc don't all have many 200M+ view MVs but their songs top the charts . And yes I agree with Efra about doing Top 10 overall but I'm not sure if anyone has done that compilation :)
I highly recommend BEAST (now known as Highlight), especially their killing voice, Yoseob is one of the best 2nd vocalists

it was very heartbreaking, but little they know ,later after that they were about to get recognition that they have been waiting for.

New K-Pop fans wouldn't know this but T-ara were on track to being the biggest girl group in Korea. 7:44 Roly-Poly was a MASSIVE hit and the group was doing amazing, but they had a massive scandal which ruined their image. They still had comebacks but they fell behind the groups they were competing with: 2NE1, SNSD, etc... it's sad but just wanted to explain why they were so high
Our queen Spring Day never left the Melon Top 100 since its release back in Feb of 2017. It has been charting for a total of 5 years straight and is still on the chart to this day. It's the longest charting song in the charts history and have the highest number of unique listeners for any song in the chart ever. South Korea loves Spring Day.
Also BTS "Boy With Luv" is the 3rd longest charting song in the charts history and now Dynamite is following well.

Don't know if someone have commented on this, but T-ARA was super huge back in 2009 and the early 2010s. But a fake scandal in mid2012 brought by a former member of them halted their progression and even got them hated by the general public. Not until 2018 that the former member actually confessed of faking the story and several old colleagues of T-ARA came up and defended them. And the public slowly opened up towards the members once again whom are now working in various parts of the industry.
'Me gustas tu' was their second song,not debut,and the members of Gfriend were between 17 and 20 at the time.

For Spring Day, it was released (and I believe written for?) a terrible thing that happened in Korea where a number of young students drowned while on a boat. It was a national tragedy and so I think that song in particular was, and continues to be, very important for many older South Korean people who wouldn't usually listen to kpop music. I'm quite certain that's why it stayed in the "top 10 kpop songs in SK" list for so many years
I think one of the reasons Spring day got so incredibly big in south korea is because people have connected it to the sewol ferry tragedy. So it's quite an emotional song for koreans.
And the reason rollin went viral is because of how enthusiastically brave girls performed it for the military. People admired them for that.
