Hii Julie… love ur videos .. very informative…. Can u tell me which one of these I should use on a 20 inch round Mdf board mosaic art I created. It’s my first ever mosaic piece . Thanks in advance
So helpful - thank you, Julie! I'm laughing because I haven't added hangers to any of my work :0 I would think that it would make working on the piece difficult and awkward, but you make good sense.
Thanks Julie !...this is something i haven't given much thought to, yet just as important :) **REQUEST for another video ! I am sure it depends on what kind of design you make....but, do you cut and prep alot of tess before you begin your mosaic? ...OR, do you cut and fit tess as you go ? If I sketch out a design, and am using square vitreous mosaic tiles, i just don't wan't to fill the spaces with all square cut pieces. Where do I begin ? Thanks Julie !!! :)
Hi Mermaid Seahorse! Well, it depends.😂 If I'm following a design I usually cut as I go. If I'm tiling more random, I'll cut things down a bit and start tiling, then most likely cut tesserae down more as I'm fitting things in. For what you're describing, I would probably cut as I go. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Speaking as a curator of annual mosaic shows, always use D-rings and wire, attached properly, 3" to 4" down from the top, if you want your mosaic shown! Pull the wire fairly taut, as loose wires, or wires that appear above the top edge of the piece, make hanging a nightmare because I have to rewire them before I can hang them. I would never trust the nail or staple gun solutions, and can't hang pieces on sawhooks. If you attach a French cleat, you MUST let the curator know in advance! I have them on my hanging system, but hardly any galleries use them unless they regularly show extremely large and heavy pieces of art. Always read carefully what the gallery requires, or ask if you haven't been given printed material (they should always give you printed material!!)
I love French Cleats, I use them for the majority of my pieces. I believe when it comes to mosaics, don’t take chances. And I never use alligator hooks. They just never make me feel secure enough.

I use the sticky Velcro pieces eg Command. A little more expensive but they don't damage the wall.
Hi Lynne! What a great option!✨ Thanks for sharing. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥

Are any of these good for ply wood?
Hi Loo! Yes, they sure are! I demonstrated on wood in the video. Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!🔥
What gauge wire do you use?
Hi Cindy! It all depends on the weight of the mosaic. I usually overestimate just because.😂

@@JulieWeilbacher It's great to have mosaic advice! These hanging solutions are great for people who don't plan to show.

Hi Ms. KC! Agreed, french cleats are the best! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🌟
