- Hey furniture friends!! Today I'll take you along with me as I update this old vintage French Provincial dresser. This was the bottom of the hutch top makeover I did on my channel, and they both belonged to Kendals grandma so it’s pretty special! What a stunning finished piece! I love that you had a 'vision' for the colour and mixed your own. I also loved that despite the setbacks you kept going - great encouragement. I wanted to know about the side edges of the drawers - did you do them separately with a brush, or were they part of the spraying process?
Wow thanks so much! I always enjoy mixing colours, and it saves a lot of $ too ☺️ thanks so much I actually didn’t know if I was gonna be able to save the stain without sanding it all off but I’m glad we were able to figure it out! and also for the edges of the drawers, I brushed on the colour for the parts that the sprayer wouldn’t reach. Alternatively you could tape it off but I was lazy 😅 thanks for watching!!

I’ve seen so many flippers say they spray water on the wood first and they say it helps make the stain easier to work with
Yes! I’ve done that before and it helps, I like to use mineral spirits in a pinch to do the same thing because then the grain doesn’t get raised like it does with water ☺️ thanks for the suggestion!

When you spray paint with the drawers/doors closed, how do you keep them from sticking and then messing up the paint opening them?
Honestly I haven’t had a problem with drawers sticking! But usually when I spray with the drawers in, not much paint gets on the top and sides so maybe that’s why. I’ll go in with a small brush and roller to get those areas after the drawer faces have dried.
How long did it take for you to complete this dresser? Did you take a lot of breaks? It looks beautiful!
